Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill has today announced a hands off warning for two of his most talented youngsters who were on fire yesterday (not literally) during their 6-0 drubbing of Derby yesterday.
Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill has warned Premier League rivals off star England pair Ashley Young and Gabby Agbonlahor who have been chased by Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea.
“I’m not surprised clubs are interested – it’s logical. But we want to get Villa back where we should be, so that means keeping our good players,” said O’Neill. (various)
Rafa has been keen to add more British names to his squad ahead of a potential UEFA ruling concerning quotas of homegrown players in Premier League squads. I guess it makes sense to plan ahead should this regulation come into effect. Both Young and Agbonlahor have been courted by many teams and the Villa Park side will be keen to hold of attention from the big boys but as long as O’Neill moves the midlands side up the table they will have less reason to flee.
