Has Hleb played his final match for Arsenal?
by stresster on April 23rd, 2008The ice-cream loving winger was caught allegedly slying off for talks with Inter earlier this year, just before the Arsenal were due to play Milan in the Champions League. Although captain William Gallas has called on the likes of Hleb, Fabregas and Flamini to commit to the club for next season, it’s clear that the Belarussian is going to have other offers on the table after a fantastic season for the Gunners.
Sky Sports report that Hleb is banned for the next three matches after losing his rag with Reading captain Graeme Murty last weekend and striking the defender, much to the chagrin of the Royals. Will the player now start plotting his Emirates exit?
Referee Peter Walton did not include the incident in his initial match report as he did not see it, but having video evidence he admitted he would have red-carded the Arsenal midfielder.
As such the FA charged Hleb - and he has now admitted the charge rather than appealing.
Hleb’s season is now over as he misses Arsenal’s three remaining matches against Derby, Everton and Sunderland.

I think it will be his last game for us.
If as reported he can buy Arsenal out of his contract, and Milan have offered to double his salary i reckon he will go.
Whilst he has been great this season, I am sure there are better players out there for us.
I think we all know that Arsenal will not be held to randsom by any player, as Wenger strives to keep harmony in the squad.

I actually thought he was better than this and that Arsenal meant something to him, but I’m still a bit of a naive dreamer when it comes to supporting my club..If he doesn’t appreciate Arsenal enough and can’t see what playing in that side has done for him, then he proves himself purely mercenary and can fuck off. On the other hand if he does appreciate what he has achieved and can see the bigger footballing picture for himself and Arsenal, then he’s more than welcome to stay in my book. He’s got to commit to Arsenal or not quickly though and not piss them around. Now’s the time to speak out about your intentions Hleb. Money aside, Italian football offers no guarantee of professional success.

Peronally i dont rate as highly as some of my fellow gooners. yes he has fantastic technical abilty and his dribbling is sublime, however how many goals has he scored this season? How many assists? He is not a wide player and as well all know we have more than enough decent central midfield players. Wenger needs some width and a winger will be much more welcome in my book than giving Hleb a payrise. On a slightly different note, this whole buying yourself out of a contract is the biggest pile of wank ive heard of in a long time! god help us in the future when a decent Arsenal player wants to do the same!

I’m 50/50 on Hlebs overall contribution. If he wants to go - let him go. The flamster will be the bigger loss in terms of overall contribution. But if they can’t be loyal to the club then go and be damned, we’re better of bringing the youth through.
