With rumours surrounding just how much longer injury-prone Ledley King will manage to keep himself fit – and with questions raised about the lack of ability but not determination shown by Michael Dawson – I guess it’s no surprise that Juande Ramos is making some defensive plans.

Ben-Haim can of course play as a full-back but he looks pretty assured in the centre (with the exception of that roasting he got at the hand of Fernando Torres at the start of the season). The Israeli is a solid if not spectacular player but one who could prove very useful to Tottenham, not least because he should be available for around £5m, which in today’s market would be considered a bargain.
