Providing Dimitar Berbatov sticks around, you would imagine that he and Robbie Keane will continue to bosh in the goals for Tottenham next season. However, the main concern for manager Juande Ramos is the state of the Spurs defence and it appears that new signings are imminent. In addition to the stories linking Chelsea defender Tal Ben-Haim to White Hart Lane, the Daily Telegraph reports that Daniel Diaz (no relation to Cameron) is close to also signing on the dotted line.
“I am comfortable at Getafe, but you always want to improve as a player so I hope I will be given the chance,” Diaz is reported as saying. “I know that Tottenham have asked for me and there are other foreign clubs interested but this depends on many things, so I will not get carried away.”
Given what Ramos achieved at Sevilla (two successive UEFA Cup wins), along with the increasing prestige (and millions) of the Premier League, it’s no surprise to find Spanish players wanting a piece of the action at Tottenham. Will the Spurs manager follow in the footsteps of Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez and recruit a number of players from the Primera Liga?
