A £10m Berbatov replacement that Tottenham should avoid at all costs!
by Mr Comfort on April 29th, 2008This is a really dumb move that is surely mere speculation!
Tottenham are reviving their interest in Juventus striker Vincenzo Iaquinta as a potential replacement for Dimitar Berbatov.
Spurs made a move for Iaquinta last year while he was still with Udinese. Iaquinta has admitted frustration at the lack of first team action he’s seen this season and is ready to ask for a move. (various)
Yes Iaquinta has scored a few goals in Serie A, however he isn’t even a regular starter at Juventus and surely any player touted as good enough to replace Dimitar should at least be able to command a first team spot. His record at international level hardly inspires confidence either, 23 caps and 1 goal (albeit many sub appearances) even Andy Cole was more prolific at international level. At 28 the lanky forward is really not worth considering as a Spurs signing. What do Tottenham fans make of the re-emergence of this Italian on the rumour radar?

i’m surprised ramos still picks berba. It’s so obvious he’s off at the first chance. Give someone a go who wants to play for spurs.

That he’s behind Del Piero and Trezeget on the Juve pecking order doesn’t mean he’s a bad footballer. If we bought e.g. a Ajax first team player doesn’t mean he’s a better player than a top club bench warmer. The Ajax player would probably kill to sit on that bench.
Get real!
