Spurs £10m striker heading to West Ham as replacement for Newcastle bound star: Maybe?
by Mr Comfort on April 29th, 2008It appears that recent speculation linking Kevin Keegan with any footballer known to man could have a knock on effect at White Hart Lane.
Newcastle United boss Kevin Keegan is chasing West Ham striker Dean Ashton. (The Sun)
SPURS record signing Darren Bent has urged manager Juande Ramos to make him a regular started next season. The £16.5million signing from Charlton, is one of the many names linked with the exit door at White Hart Lane this summer. West Ham and Newcastle are considered the most likely suitors for £10m rated Bent should he indeed leave in the summer (various)
So this could be very confusing. Dean Ashton does appear to be have a big fan in Keegan but then the Magpies boss also wants Bent, so could it turn into a three way junction? Clearly if Ashton goes then Bent could end up with his old Charlton boss at Upton Park? My head is spinning! Who do West Ham fans want to see spearheading their attack Deano or Bent? Do Spurs fans think that the former Charlton man has a future at White Hart Lane? And do the Geordies think another striker is even needed given the likes of Owen, Martins and Viduka at St James’ Park?

I am not sure that this represents a good deal for West Ham. We should not sell Ashton to Newcastle (not sure why he would want to go there anyway!). As for Bent, i am not sure about him either.
David Kirby - April 29th, 2008 at 6:00 pm
So if Kaboul is swapped for Parker and is then traded for Duff who could return to Chelsea on loan letting thus Drogmba go to Wigan mt grandmother could partner Wes Brown–they are well matched.
Pete T - April 29th, 2008 at 6:15 pm
So, Wes Brown is sleeping with your Gran, David? Nasty!!!!!
craig chisholm - April 29th, 2008 at 6:39 pm
aston would be better than bent as he is basically crap. i would imagine that ashton would enjoy playing for a better supported club like newcastle.
valle - April 29th, 2008 at 7:02 pm
i agree with Craig, but i think Newcastle will buy Berba the toon fan, letting spurs buy Howey from Derby who can then buy Ashton
Dee - April 29th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
Berby to Toon..haha. What a deluded bunch. Why dont you bid for Modric. I am sure hell fancy the toon. btw, I hope Derby win a game this season. It will be shame to leave the prem without a win. oops I forgot , they have a win already!!
joe - April 29th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
bent do us all a favour and stay at spurs, we don,t want you at westham give me deano anyday. we will have berbatov instead ha ha .
JD - April 30th, 2008 at 5:03 am

NEWCASTLE YOU ONCE BROUGHT IN A PLAYER FOR £17,000,000 WHO EVERYONE THOUGHT YOU WERE MENTAL BUT HE TURNED OUT PRETTY DECENT ” SHEARE R ” GREAT BUSINESS , THINK BIG AGAIN AND BUY OUR DECENT PLAYER ” BENT ” PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RayparlourforPresident - April 30th, 2008 at 7:19 am
Ashton is shite, Darren bent is Shite - sounds fair
ramos who - April 30th, 2008 at 7:56 am
dee newcastle pulled out of the modric deal as they were asking to much but your fool comolli would pay anything just like he did for bent..
ramos wheres a who - April 30th, 2008 at 7:59 am
i can see spurs doing a leeds spending big to break into the top 4,which will never happen
Ghammer - April 30th, 2008 at 8:05 am
You are having a laugh. Ashton has been injured all year but over the last 2 months he has shown he is quality. Anyone who is fair and has watched him for the past 2 months will see he is the best english front target man, clever, great touch and scores. he would never go to the poor team from scotland. he hates the north, they are shite, lower in the league than both WHM and Spuds and they are all poor. As for bent, bend him right back round to stay at the spuds who spent £16.5m on him he he he he. Mugs
Alex - April 30th, 2008 at 8:43 am
Ashton to newcastle ,he would form a great partnership with owen good for newcastle and england. Then newcastle could dump viduka, west ham would be able to get him to add to the rest of the newcastle rejects they have.
joe - April 30th, 2008 at 9:21 am
If NUFC had a bid accepted for Ashton he would be off like a shot. The chance to play in front of 52000 and alongside Owen would be too much. Also, we pay decent wages.
Both Toon an WHU will finish above Spuds next season - and probably this season too! West Ham have had the worst injuries in the Prem, and Toon had a Fat Sam disaster. What is Spuds excuse? You are not the team that you think you are. As we proved with a 4 - 1 hammering recently. If you think the Toon are shit, then where does that place your team you fools?
Anonymous - April 30th, 2008 at 9:22 am
i mite be wrong about this ghammer but think spurs only paid around 10.000000 for him rising to 16.000000 depending on games played this season,so if he stays he mite play more and only cost us 10.000000 not bad for a young english proven centre fwd,all in all shroud to keep on the touch lines for a season me thinks ????
hitman - April 30th, 2008 at 9:34 am
ashton would be a good signing for the toon,it could boost his england chances aswel..
macca - April 30th, 2008 at 10:02 am
Joe, in response to your comments it puts Spurs in Europe for the 3rd year running and Carling Cup winners.
What was the last thing your team won?
Brendan - April 30th, 2008 at 10:27 am
Seeing as Tottenham have been on holiday since being knocked out of the Uefa Cup (how far did the mighty Toon or WHAM get in this competition? Oh sorry) and still managed to absolutely thrash the hammers 4-0, are you not a little bit concerned that when we can be bothered next season that we are going to be even better.
In all honesty we played decent stuff in between November and February - everything else was pretty much pants. However still walked away with a trophy, something Newcastle fans would chop all their limbs off for, except their right arms, they need these to twirl their recently removed shirts around their heads on match days.
rich - April 30th, 2008 at 10:29 am
Macca, ever seen Spurs play at the San Siro? How about seeing them beat Barca? Yeah, Newcastle have had a couple of poor seasons but they’ve proven they’re better than Tottenham over the years, not least under KK and sir Bobby. I think Toon fans would prefer that they’ve played in the CL this millenium than winning a cup that no big team takes seriously. Would love to see Newcastle get back there, though it’ll take a few years.
Me? I’m an AFC Wimbledon supporter, so don’t start on me being a ‘delirious’ Geordie…
Carlos - April 30th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
Rich your a fool. So no top teams take the carling cup serious. Try telling Chelsea that. If you look at the team we beat in the final, it is the same team that is in the semi-final of the champions league, Mug.
Anyway lets stop fighting like a bunch of girls. We have all had a crap season, but we are in europe next season.
michael - April 30th, 2008 at 2:32 pm
Rich you bitchhole a few good seasons in the CL under kk and robson and that makes you the better team NOOOOOOO! Winning cups makes u more successful. If you look up at trophies won , spurs lead easily you mug. Your last trophie was 39 years ago . he he he he he
Anonymous - April 30th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
Toon havent won anything since 1955, except the second division in 92/93.
I dont see the big deal with getting in the champs league without winning things! Surely trophies at the end of the day mean something. Champions league is just money making, the title suggests that its a comp of champions, since when have liverpool ever won the champs league.
Champs league should only involve league champoins, the UEFA cup teams placed 2-5 and bring back the cup winners cup for the winners of the FA and league cups.
At least then the champions league would have an appropiot name.
Luis Enrique, 7m, what a waste of money
Robbie Keane far more valuable to spurs, Berbatov goes missing a lot and is lazy, sell him for 30mil+ and bring in Villa for 16mil id say
Anonymous - April 30th, 2008 at 2:44 pm
that last comment meant to be since when have liverpool ever won the premier league!
michael - April 30th, 2008 at 2:53 pm
just 4 the record newcastle won the fairs cup in the 60,s still a fuckin long time though.
hammer stu - April 30th, 2008 at 4:17 pm
Same old codswallop from spurs fans. Brendan above used the phrase: “when we can be bothered”. How many times have i heard that from spurs fans. Here’s a selection:
“spurs are a big club”, “top 4 this season in place of arsenal”, “when we can be bothered”, “biggest london fan base”, “it was lasagna”, “wenger poisoned us” …..
Same old stuff trotted out every single season from spurs fans. Failure is always apeased with the “when we can be bothered” bit. Absolutely laughable really.
Yeah, you’re in europe again next year by virtue of Avram Grants superiority complex - so what? It will come to nothing again…
Lets face it boys, spurs are a mid-table team that’s capable of a decent cup run. Not much different from the rest of us. Why are you so deluded about your status??
Saw you spent you berba money already on modric - you must be gutted he wants to move to a real big club.
jer - April 30th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
fucking dopes, yer saying yer better then every one because ye won the Carling Cup, so portsmouth are better then spurs because they’ll win the FA cup
J_HAMMER - April 30th, 2008 at 4:56 pm
BENT won’t be playing for us for two reasons:
1) Curbs isn’t someone to mess around and clearly wont even consider trying to sign someone who messed him about a year ago. in fact curbs will be laughing at the mistake made by bent at joining the spuds.
2) He ain’t worth a starting place at a team below us in the league. (TALK ABOUT TRYING TO PUSH FORWARD)
MEL - April 30th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
YOU TOONS ARE A LOT OF CRAB, HOW CAN YOU COMPARE NEWCASTLE WITH SPURS, WHEN YOU DONT’T EVEN REMEMBER YOUR TEAM WINNING ANY SILVERWARE.THIS IS THE THIRD YEAR RUNNING IN EUROPE FOR SPURS AND THE REASON WE LOST AGAINST NEWCASTLE BECAUSE RAMUS EXPERIMENTING WITH THE TEAM FORMATION.UNLESS YOU WIN SOME KIND OF A TROPHY YOU SHOULD SHUT THE FUCK UP.
Lee - May 1st, 2008 at 2:07 pm
Hey, When you can spell, you maybe able to put your views forward until then keep your chin up NUFC 3-1 Spurs (h), Spurs 1 - 4 NUFC (a)
TOOOOOOOOON!
A_goon - May 1st, 2008 at 4:17 pm
this is the only transfer rumour regarding newcastle that i can believe so far. there have been speculation that newcastle r gonna sign henry and huntelaar. wat is it gonna take 4 newcastle 2 finally admit that players like henry and huntelaar r way out of their league.
PaulHammer - May 2nd, 2008 at 2:23 pm
Completely agree with Hammer Stu - As a hammer I (surprisingly) don’t dislike Spurs as much a other WH fans but I do find it embarassing to read comments by deluded Spurs fans talking about how well they’ll do ‘when they can be bothered’ or if the manager ‘wasn’t experimenting with the team’. And it’s not just the odd fan here or there, a lot of them/you actually believe that crap!
At least the majority of WH and Toon fans accept when their teams have played shit or had a crap season with a bit of humility and without all the lame excuses about how unlucky they’ve been or how much better they’ll do next season (again!).
Well done to Spurs for winning the Carling Cup, I would have loved WH to have won it but it certainly doesn’t make you any better (or worse) than WH or the Toon. Results from the 38 league games will show that in a couple of weeks time.
toon for top 4 - May 27th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
nufc will not be able to buy huntelaar because the will offer 18 mil then man u will double it and chelsea will triple it they have no chance we could not even sign edgar davids never mind all thse quality players like henry swp if the 2 did move to nufc ok it will be starrting 11 ever game but it is to much a step down.
toon for top 4 - May 27th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
th hammers for god sake wake up higest position 10th readings first season where higher this season transfer budget for the hammers 3.2 million stadium hold about 3 people and u get it free in a happy meal
