Arsenal to edge out Spurs in chase for £20m star: Can Ramos clinch another Modric style coup?
by Mr Comfort on April 30th, 2008The race for Real Madrid star Robinho is heating up with the frontrunners coming from north London.
Real Madrid superstar Robinho may be making his way to the Premier League next season, with Arsenal and Tottenham leading the chase for his signature
If the temperamental Robinho becomes further unsettled, the La Liga club may cut their losses and listen to offers in the region of £20 million.
Spurs chief Damien Comolli is a well publicised admirer of Robinho and if he does become available then Tottenham are expected to make a move. (East London and West Essex Guardian)
It appears the promise of Champions League football is apparently a motivating factor for the Brazilian so for the time being at least a move to Spurs seems unlikely. However after the signing of Luka Modric maybe Juande Ramos has the kind of proven track record to give the White Hart Lane side more of an edge in any potential bidding war. Do fans of either club like the idea of the 24 year old signing up?

Of course! Any team would like to have robinho play for it. go gunners!
seanyboy - April 30th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
spuds and champs league dont make me larf
Dooky - April 30th, 2008 at 6:15 pm
if spurs get robinho i’d laugh my arse off at the gooners if they tried to sign him too (who would then probs say something like we “never wanted him anyway” [much like toon fans atm] ) but realistically i cant see it happening… so whos the next rumour??
Paul A - April 30th, 2008 at 6:20 pm
Hey Seanyboy getting Nervous are we
1. 5-1 Trashing by us this year + we should have hammered you at the emerates
2. We won a trophy you won nothing - and dont give me crap cup stuff, its a trophy and try telling the 3 thousands gooners that watch you getting hammered
3. Modric joined us not you - gutted i bet you were
4. Next season i cant wait to play you again
Anonymous - April 30th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
he would be better at arsenal anyway
mjj7 - April 30th, 2008 at 6:38 pm
Spuds could sign 10 Modric, in fact spuds have always spent bigger than the gonners in the tranfer market and look where they are? Where they belong (DROP ZONE)
Ps: you can keep 4th place, where bigger than that lol
El Tel - April 30th, 2008 at 6:44 pm
Here we go the Spud muppets bigging themselves up. Finished 4th this year did you twat. Close to relegation more like. If you want to call THAT a trophy then well done to you guys, after all it was the one you really played for at the beginning of this season wasn’t it. Can we call the Emirates cup a trophy then? Should have hammered us at our place eh, well you didn’t. Dream on as usual you are no nearer winning the league as you have been since 1962. All talk as usual.
gettingthereslowly - April 30th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
its only in the last 9 years that arsenal have learnt how to play the game.

scorpion - April 30th, 2008 at 6:55 pm
I see the pre teens have chosen to answer this one. On a more adult level I can opine that I do not want this guy. He is not “injured” he has been partying his ass off in Spain and not paying attention to the football world around him. Let him go to the Gooners. Him and Wenker should get along just fine.
ar5ena1 - April 30th, 2008 at 6:59 pm
5-1….
steve - April 30th, 2008 at 7:08 pm
SPUDS, YOUR 34 POINTS BEHIND THE ARSENAL. THATS OVER 11 WINS WHICH IS MORE THAN YOU HAVE HAD ALL YEAR!!!!!!!!!! 4TH PLACE? KEEP DREAMING
scorpion - April 30th, 2008 at 7:24 pm
Steve, Steve, Steve. Quit being so bitter. You are numbers ahead of us blah blah blah. 2 facts that you will love to be reminded of. 5-1. One trophy. Get over it; you accomplished squat this year except being also rans in every competition you entered. We, however, have a trophy in the cabinet and no history lesson from you will change that.
Redtop - April 30th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
Scorpion, fair play you did win a trophy & thats always an achievement for a midtable club, now admittedly none of the big teams take it seriously, although they usually still get to the final even then, but spurs done well.
How much money was spent last summer & in January for spurs to win such a prestigious trophy?? Between 42-50 million.
For spurs the CC is their level so it has to noted as an achievement.
1961 - April 30th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
Well done on beating Arsenal for the frst time in 9 years. 5-1. A few facts:
1. Give or take a few others, Chelsea, Newcastle, Everton, Villa, City, The Yids, Blackburn, West Ham and Boro actually enter the CC with their 1st team from the Premiership. Most teams in The Championship don’t bother. Spurs, as their history proves, target cups as it is much easier route to success, though less notable. Sometimes you only have to play two or three teams at the top level to win a cup. In the CC you don’t even have to do that anymore.
2. Arsenal’s first team is Almunia, Sagna, Clichy, Gallas, Rosicky, Hleb, Fabregas, Flamini, v Persie, Adebayor.
3. Three started against Spurs. You tend to gloss over that in your stampede for brownie points. Lets see how you go against the first team who you haven’t beaten at Arsenal since 1985 (1993 was pre-Cup final reserves) or WHL since 1999. You know it.
4. Since last May Spurs have sp*nked £70m on players. Arsenal are in profit. They are 34 points behind Arsenal and had the double done on their first team.
5. You will never catch Arsenal when you can only get 35,000 into your garden shed of a ground and Wenger is in charge of Arsenal. You know it.
Puffin - April 30th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
How can you be happy with the Lidl Cup and the bottom half of the table? Surely Arsenal have had the better season - 3rd in the league (guaranteed champions league football). To be honest, its not even worth arguing.
Liverpool are trophyless after tonight, please don’t tell me the Spuds have had a better season then them too? No. Every team above Spuds have had a better season.
Keep reminding Arsenal fans about your cup. We are really envious of that cup.
Yorkie - April 30th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
The carling cup isn’t a great trophey, given but…FACT - Arsenal haven’t won anything for 3 years, you have been to 1 champions league final, bottled it, you have got to the carling cup final, arrogantly played your reserves and lost to chelsea, something we didn’t do. 1-1 against us in the semi at the death star and battered at the lane. Last year in the FA cup you lost to blackburn in the QF this year you got played off the park by Man U. only played 80 minutes against liverpool at anfield in the CL this year and finished third in the league you happy with that? after the 3-1 win at the lane in august i was told yeah we gonna win the league, not to be aye? wheres henry when you need him?.
I would swap the carling cup for champions league football who wouldn’t? but as the lanky streak of P!ss said quote ‘arsenal this season have played the best football of any team i have had, but bought the the most disapointment…’ long may it continue
paul a - April 30th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
haha paul no matter wat u say about u beat us 5-1 blah blah blah the fact that u guys claimed to be in the top four and finished like what 10 places away from it has me laughing even more than ur humiliating loss to newcastle… was it 6-1 o wait 5-1 hahaha enuff said… wow hope u guys have fun not losing the next few games!!! atleast we competed for the league not like u wankers. hahaha if u wanna beat ur reserves(i mean 2nd team) again 5-1 and let us do the double on you in the league than i dont mind infact i wud do it every year!! especially embarassing u fucks at shit hart late (3-1)

steve has got a point guys. i hate Arsenal but they are still better than us and we know that. We did win more than them this year and i am very proud of that and only the most deluded gooners will tell u its a “crappy cup” because even tho Wenger fielded a weakned side, he had the choice to change it and didnt because he shows no respect to the competition. It is still a BIG CUP to win in England and they all know it but only admit it when they win it themselves - but i think most of them have forgotten what thats like, winning trophies! I am not a cocky spurs fan by any means. I can admit that Arsenal are better than us and will finish above us again next year and will most likely sneak the double over us again because they always do, but the gap is closing wether they like to admit it or not. Yes, we have had a shit season and yes, we are exactly where we deserve to be and i cant even say we wont do this again next year but what i do know is, we are capable - very capable and when we turn it on, we are as good as anyone as all 4 of the Top 4 have found out this year. Liverpool 1 - 1 Spurs, Spurs 1 - 1 United, Spurs 5 - 1 Arsenal, Chelsea 1 - 2 Spurs - CC final. i am resigned to losing berbatov now, but the signing of Luka Modric has severely softened the blow, as will the addition of another top striker to replace Berba. Don’t get too cocky Arsenal fans, it is starting to slip under Wenger and a lot of you realise it but are in denial. 6 years ago, if u were 5 points clear, you never would have lost the lead and would have gone on to win the title - and i thought u were going to this year, but if Wenger doesnt stop pretending he can win everything with kids, you are never going to get better until all ur 20 year olds are 28!
Clarkey - April 30th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
When Spurs can finish above Arsenal in the league for three seasons running then we will take you boys seriously. The table dosen’t lie, you are mid table team no better than Everton or Aston Villa.
Last point , what was your record against the top four teams this year how many ponis didn you take off them ????

With Ramos in charge and a miserly Wenger, I see the pendulum swinging the way of Spurs!
In the 5-1 thrashing, the following players played -
Sagna, Clichy, Gallas, Hleb, Fabregas, Flamini, Adebayor, Gilberto, Toure…
Arsenal wanted that trophy badly and were ambushed by the tactical Ramos! The scoreline was a flattery as a less wasteful Spur would have scored 3 more goals.
With the sighning of Modric and other TOP signings expected, a SPURS double next season is for the taking….
Wenger WILL NEVER -
1) Buy an established player
2) Spend more than £12m on any player
3) buy more than 3 players a season
Arsenal will be the same as this season. Wenger always looks for a “good” deal and was only lucky with Sagna this season. Next season, he might get one more player and buy 2 crap players….
Arsenal will need all the luck to stay in the top 6 next season with Wenger in charge.
Spurs had a weak management problem which has been resolved with Ramos’s arrival. With over £40m war chest, he will plug holes in the defence and goalkeeping areas where Arsenal have exploited as in most matches Arsenal have won, SPURS have been the better side but for sloppy give away goals from nothing.
There is a good reason for optimism from the Spurs FANS! Gooners can only hope on lady luck!
Sofa King - May 1st, 2008 at 12:10 am
Guys guys… why can’t we all just get along?
Arsenal fans can’t you be happy Spurs won a trophy; and it’s still mathematically possible that Arsenal could win the league.
North London is the home of attractive attacking football - let’s put our differences aside - or better yet take the piss out of someone else together…
Co-ownership anyone?
greekos - May 1st, 2008 at 1:15 am
hey sofa king!! ur mad the gooners and the spurs will never unite EVER!!! the difference this year is that spurs have won something and the scum havent. arsenal play nice football but until they win something they wont understand how. spurs finally have that under their belt and will move on. wenger is under pressure from the local rival which hasnt been for a long time and he is feeling the pressure because i dont know anyone who has had the tacical nous that ramos has. If ramos had the personnel that he wanted we would be in the CL and challenging the PL. GIve it 2 seasons under Ramos and we will we be a different proposition. Arsenals recent history far outstrips spurs’ but when wenger decides that he has had enough who will replace him?? no one!! thats who! doesnt matter who you wankers appoint youll be fucked up for at least five years! thats football up one minute down the next your up as spurs fans we appreciate sucess as gooners you expect sucess which is why you really wish youd won a cup this year the PL is beyond you as is the CL. Pat yourselves on the back this year because Ramos isnt of the normal Tottenham manager ilk. he wants sucess like billy nick and wont stop till he gets it. I hope you gooners can understand what ive said and that spurs fans will give Ramos more time than we gave jol.

1961 - May 1st, 2008 at 5:57 am
Excuse’s Excuse’s
Okay Arsenal started with first team players of sagna, gallas, hleb and gilberto Fact
After 15 mins Fabregas came on, he played 75mins! At this time it was ONLY 1-0. Arsenal then had 5 first team players on the pitch. Thats almost half the team. Fact
Arsenal had eduardo, flamini, adebayor on the bench all first team players Fact
The remainder of the arsenal team out, hoyte, denilson(replaced by fabregas on 15mins) diaby, walcott, bendtner, traore have all had first team experience playing against good teams in all competitions. They have made first team appearance’s wether it be as a sub or starter, therefore are first team. They got to a cup final, knocking out very good teams along the way and got to the semi’s this year. That gives them experience and its clear they have talent. It shows how good they are, an with the exception of traore and walcott the team that started are 20 or over. They are first team standard players and would get into most prem teams. They were more than capable of beating spurs and other teams as they did last season in the same competition, all be it after extra time. The majority of these players, are 20,21,22. Hardly ‘Kids’! These are all hard FACTS.
Had Arsenal played only there ‘kids’ they would of had ages of 17,19etc. They didnt, as there was a mix of all ages on the pitch but all having a decent if not brilliant amount of experience. Fact
Spurs were also not full strength, had we of been full strength we would of probably played assou/or bale over lee, bale over malbranque, robbo over cerny, zokora over tanio. Thats a possible four players that could of made us stronger FACT
When Arsenal played Spurs at the Emirates in the League the teams were as follows:
Arsenal: Almunia, Sagna, Toure, Galla, Clitchy, Eboue, Fabregas, Flamini, Rosicky, Hleb, Adebayor
Thats almost a full strength team, bar Van Persie. 1 missing Fact
Tottenham:Robbo, Chimbo, Kaboul, Lee, Lennon, Boatang, O’Hara, Tanio, Malbranque, Keane, Berbatov
Spurs were missing King, Dawson, Assou, Bale, Zokora, Jenas. 6 Players Fact
King for Kaboul, Dawson for Boatang, Assou for Lee, Bale for Malbranque, Jenas for O’Hara, Zokora for Tanio
Spurs had the majourity of posession in the first an second half’s, outplayed arsenal for large parts of the game, and had Keane not missed a penalty would of probably gone on to win. However, Sub Bendtner came on to score the winning goal in a game that Spurs bossed and really should of taken there chances in. FACT
Here’s what the report said
‘Arsenal were far from at their exhilarating best at the Emirates Stadium but just did enough to dig out a result. Spurs had the majourity of posession but didnt use it to there advantage. A Dimitar Berbatov goal in the second half cancelled out Adebayors against the run of play strike. Tottenham looked the better of the two teams for large parts of the match as Ramos’ team stopped Arsenal getting into any pattern. It could have been so much better for Spurs had Keane not had his penalty saved by Manuel Almunia after Kolo Toure had fouled Berbatov. But it wasn’t to be as Bendtner, on as a sub, evaded his marker Tom Huddlestone at a corner, to score a thumping header of a winner past Paul Robinson with his first touch in the 74th minute. Spurs can count themselves unlucky, Arsenal fortunate for Wengers inspired sub.’
So basically a full strenth arsenal team, although they won beat a severly understrength spurs team that outplayed them for most parts of the game, had we of put out a FULL strength team, the way we played we could of won. FACT
Spurs although severly understrength, with Jamie O’hara making his 1st ever spurs first team appearance, stopped arsenal from playing there game, had the majourity of posession, an bossed large parts of game, an had Keane scored his penalty spurs probably would of got the win there performance deserved. An Arsenal, they were poor, why because Spurs stopped them getting into any rhythm, Arsenal were so poor my mate who is a hardcore gooner said he really expected Spurs to beat them. FACT.
And one of those so called Arsenal ‘kids’ (Bendtner) WHO started against spurs on Tuesday night (cc semi night) came off the bench an scored the winner in that match! FACT
So Spurs were already looking likely to beat Arsenal sooner or later as there performance showed they now knew how to stop Arsenal’s game. FACT.
Then in the first leg at Emirates, again, it was mainly Spurs, Arsenal got a lucky deflected goal, an spurs didnt take there chances. At the Lane, Wenger played a STRONGER team, but Spurs took there chances, not all of them mind, Arsenal can count themselves lucky, Malbranque, Defoe and Keane all had very good chances to score and Berbatov hit the post. Had all of them gone in it could of ended up more. FACT
And finally after 60mins, yes with half an hour to go!! Spurs took off Berbatov and Keane for Defoe an Boatang and at the same time Wenger put on Adebayor and Eduardo for Traore and Walcott. So now Arsenal had 7 as you gooners call First choice players to Spurs 5 first Choice, and then on 74mins Spurs took off Lennon for Huddlestone Leaving Spurs with 4 First choice players on. So if you want to get petty about First choice at the end of the game Arsenal had MORE first teamers on than Spurs. Funny That!
And Guess what its ALL complete FACT! So before you go on about we beat ‘kids’ please consider all of the above. Because quite clearly they were not your ‘kids’ they were ALL First team squad players good enough to beat Spurs. They may not have been your first choice but then you know what, neither was all of the Spurs team first choice! An if you want to get more picky, arsenal beat spurs reserves at emirates in the league 2-1, spurs reserves totally outplayed arsenals full team. Yet in the cc your so called reserves got thrashed 5-1 by a spurs team missing half there first team..funny ay!
Kind Regards.

Yeah thats true! Drogba was always going to influence the outcome of the game, and i’m glad he did it with two exellent finishes rather than doing his swan lake act.
However, back to the original point, I bet I hear much less about last night’s result than I will about the 5-1. Its like Keanu Reeves trying to claim he’s the greatest actor in the world… Fine, the Matrix is one decent film but other than that your a complete expressionless moron…

am a ugandan and i surely didnot know the intensity of the spurs-arsenal rivarly not until i read those replies.
am a gunner 4 life but i would surely admit that spurs has come slightly better under ramos, their are also a joy to watch.i have watched the arsenal-spurs games for over a decade now and must admit that spurs in most cases been unlucky to lose or even to draw.its the fantastic record against spurs that keeps arsenal mentally better off and to me it will remain the only reason why arsenal would keep on top of spurs most times.
despite the millions invested by spurs, they have really failed to improve thier track record a reason many believed that spurs will finish on top of the gunners this season.but never.
i must admit that my team is really sinking and strongly believed that had we kept thierry,,pires, viera, sol alongside the current side, arsenal would be champions having had that five point advantage at a crucial stage.utd has kept the likes of gigs, scholes, silvetre, brown even at their age or not reguraly commanding 1st team football.see scoles against barca, that experience wd have worked at anfield,ot,stamford and we would be in moscow for a double.

spurs hav spent stupid amounts over seasons for what, a trophy that no1 cares about.
wenger may dissapoint every pre season by not signing the players that the papers say we are.but the players he does sign usually deliver, fabregas and henry were bought when not many really took intrest and they turned out to be briliant.
i choose watching arsenal being in the title race and playin in the champs league over 1 useless cup and mid table mediocricy any day

I feel the bitterness from you guys, don’t be bitter because Spurs won something so you think there is a chance to abuse there supporters. I think you’ll find they don’t care because history will show they won something, beating the 1st team of the champions league finalist. Not bad for a shi* footy team who are delusional? Remember Spurs fans are true fans who stick by the club through many years of shi*iness , where as certain premier league fans change club based on glory or worse, only sing when there winning. Don’t they lads!!

So if Chelsea win the champions league, will that establish the big 3 in the premier league as Man U, L’pool and Chelsea as the only sides to win the Champs league (European Cup not included). No longer a big 4.

As a Spurs I have to admit that Ar5ena1 over the past few seasons have played the better football but as a number of my fellow Yids have pointed out they have no end product. They feel the need to walk the ball into the net (that is if Bentner doesnt feel the need to clear it) and until that changes you’ll be the same hopefuls for years to come. You should realise that shooting from outside the box is acceptable and dont have to wait to walk it in after 85mins. Generally speaking i am more than happy with whats going on at the Lane. I admit that the CC is not the CL but its a great start and with Ramos incharge it and the team will only move forward with people like Woody, Keano, King, Lennon, Dawson, Janas, Bale, Hutton, Robbo, Gunthar, O’Hara, the Hud (you get the idea brittish players) where as people like Hleb, Adebayor, Rosicky, Flamini will all soon dive sorry i mean jump ship.
COYS !!
Oh and i’m happy Chelski won lat nite. I’d much rather watch United beating them than Liverpool in Romans back yard

No not disgruntled, disappointed maybe. It was a good game, any ambiguity over the dissallowed goal and the (debatable) foul on hyypia cancelled eachother out, so can’t have any complaints really. Chelsea showed more clinicality on their own turf and that was enough to see you through.
I’m not going to try and hide my disappointment that the Champions League final is to be contested by two clubs I class a bitter rivals, but I can accept the defeat.
On the 21st, at least one of you is going to walk away feeling much worse than the Liverpool players did last night. I’m just trying to work out who I want to see crying the most… Ronaldo or Drogba… It’s a toughie!

ian, with a small i…..So tell me as a matter of interest why would someone like you choose to support a team miles away from where you live?..Is it because you have no regional identity?..or maybe that you want to appear more interesting?..tell me does it work for you?…or were they the first team you saw on TV when you were smaller than you are now?..

Spurs winning the carling cup, thrashing arsenil on the way, and beating Chelsea (who, as we know can be claimed as one of the top 5 teams in Europe they are in the CL final after all, and may well win the PL) in the final… . . yep… during a season of rebuilding…new manager etc…. that makes us yids happy.. lovely jubbly.. not perfect, not a CL qualification, but positive.. super stuff
For arsenal fans not winning anything for 3 years… losing precious boy Henry….. just too much for you guys to take… and that spanking new stadium just isnt making any difference is it… getting stuffed by spurs 5-1… ah the humiliation… pure misery and bitterness
Love it..

FFS Spurs, well done, you won the mickey mouse cup. Got played off the park against PSV and Newcastle (now that is unforgivable, almost like getting beaten by Derby) and what makes you think you’re better than Gunners? You will NEVER be taken seriously, you waste millions every season (Darren Bent 16 million? Same price we got for Henry to Barca, bollocks). Well done for getting Modric but he is unproven so we will see how he develops. Arsenal are a better team, we will always challenge in all FOUR competitions and we always have more to play for every season. Make sure Berbatov send u lot postcards in the summer!
Anonymous - May 1st, 2008 at 11:58 am
when arsenals questionable “reserve team” beat blackburn in the carling cup they apparently beat them with kids and were mouthing off how great they were and how they were gonna win the cup
but when the “reserve team” played spurs with more first team players in the squad and lost it then turned into Mickey Mouse cup and didnt matter cos we were only playing there reserve team ………………..
This was the same Spurs squad that got thumped 3-1 by arsenal at WHL with 8 players for arsenal that played in carling cup semi final.
Let them face facts Tottenham outplayed them and caught them every time on the counter, best way to play against arsenal, just like man u in the fa cup.
and earlier when a manc said arsenal are bottlers, we were talking in past 3 seasons, previously u had decent international players and leaders like Veira, overmars, petit, henry, tony adams, seaman - you dont have players like them anymore thats why u cant win the league
Anonymous - May 1st, 2008 at 12:00 pm
we may waste money but still won more than u have in past 3 years ……………………………………………….u MUG

Sorry is this the same Totten@am who are behind West Ham in the league, boasting about a great season? Well done spuds! Fact remains with 2 games to go mathematically we can still win the league, a comment no spuds fan can make with 38 to go. Mugs
arnold - May 1st, 2008 at 2:49 pm
nobody wants 2 know bout ur ugandan bullshit. the point is why wud robinho choose arsenal instead of spurs or vice versa. i’ve had lots of people say that robinho wud go 2 spurs coz spurs have won a trophy and arsenal haven’t. 1st of all don’t u think robinho wud choose a club which plays champs league football rather than a club which only wins local cup competitions?
u know why spurs put so much effort into winning the carling cup? coz after their terrible start 2 the season that was their only ticket to european football. arsenal doesn’t need 2 win a cup competition 2 get into europe. their place is already secured. besides the carling cup only gets u into uefa cup and not champs league.
ever since signing modric spurs fans and their manager have been ambitious. they think they can take every good player out there 2 the lane. remember that modric came 4rm a club which like spurs never gets involved in the champs league and so that’s why he left. i guess some spurs scouts convinced him that spurs “will break the top 4 nxt season at the expense of arsenal.” hasn’t this statement been said a lot of times already? well the top 4 has been broken once b4 but it was everton who did it and not spurs and it was at the expense of liverpool not arsenal. i think everton are so underrated by everyone yet they keep on proving critics wrong. well i think claiming everton 2 break the top 4 wud be more realistic. besides they r the closest club 2 the top 4 this season.
i admit that arsenal play the best football in the premiership but it doesn’t produce results. 2 be honest i wud prefer playing crap and winning trophies like chelsea. but i think spurs situation is much worse. they spent so much last summer yet the only thing they won was the carling cup and they r destined 2 finish at the bottom half of the table. yet we spent significantly less and we reached the champs league quarter final and a third place finish is guranteed.
so spurs fans don’t get too excited just coz u signed modric who is not even the best midfielder in the world. it wud take some time b4 he reaches even close 2 fabregas, gerrard or cristiano ronaldo

Quite a lot of next year is our year for finishing above arsenal posts on here i see. Wasnt this years St Totteringhams day a record is was celebrated so early ?

Its nice to see the arses talking of big things when they havent won anything for the past 3 years….
and soon enough Hleb and Flamini will be gone as well… U better start finding replacments…
waddle - May 1st, 2008 at 4:46 pm
Don’t want Robinho, last year he said he was to good for a club like Spurs and that we weren’t big enough… sounds like a prick, he’ll fit right in with those spoilt ego’s at the emershits. And as for this facade of Arse playing pureists football, its not part of your culture it came with the current manager and will leave with him. Spurs have always played the right way and understand the true meaning of rather lose 4-3 than win 1-0. When the scummers don’t win every week the merchants will soon clear off, as will the players, and pretty football suddenly won’t be enough.
James - May 1st, 2008 at 4:49 pm
I like how the Spuds keep yapping off their intellectually polluted pieces of shit minds about winning something and beating us 5-1 5-1 5-1 5-1 5-1 5-1 5-1 5-1! Yes congratulations! You’ve finally done it! Why don’t you go out and act like your pathetic players who go out and get drunk and pick fights with people who tell them they’re STILL SHIT!!! You ask us where our title and champs. league has gone. Yes we have bottled it,but I have a question……….where did your money and big mouths get you in the league??? SO FUCK OFF!

Arse-in-all FANS are fools. ur not true supporters, walking out of the stadium wen ur team gets battered. It’s been four whole years since you won anything, your half way to the nine. Your claim to fame this season is beating a team past its sell by date. Take robinho, him and gallas can sit on the pitch together and have a tea party. Yids 4 Life bitches.
Gunner4life&beyond - May 1st, 2008 at 5:39 pm
Wow, I’ve not seen a set of fans get so excited about the carling cup. It did guarantee Uefa cup football, so I see why you’re so happy. Without it, well….
Both teams have more than enough reason to be disappointed but if anyone really thinks Spurs will finish ahead of Arsenal next season, please, let me have some of whatever you’re on.
Next season, Spurs: Uefa cup football, maybe another Carling cup and finish above 10th. Arsenal: Champions league football and finish above 4th, maybe Carling cup, maybe F.A. cup.
Enjoy the season.
P.S. Even though they weren’t the best, Arsene Wenger paid over 10 million for Reyes and Wiltord, anyone who thinks he won’t spend millions on a player needs to face facts and stop being so damn ignorant.
Everything fades into the past and becomes history, let’s hope you won’t be looking back in 10 years time with your memories of that one cup success and 5-1, 5-1, 5-1.
A_goon - May 1st, 2008 at 5:43 pm
if my memory serves me right, these r the same comments spurs fans were making at the begining of last season saying that they were gonna break into the top 4 at the expense of arsenal. well, that hasn’t really happened has it? i agree with arnold that everton has shown more than anybody that it can break into the top 4. and it did exactly that when it finished ahead of liverpool. yet they r so underrated.
just because u bought modric it doesn’t mean u’ll enter the top 4 next season. he ’s not the real deal. i can think of alot of midfielders who r better. like fabregas ronaldo, gerrard, lampard, ribery. i won’t continue mentioning coz i’m not gonna finish.
reality check. it takes a lot of good players to enter the top 4. well unless that one player can win a game single handedly like henry, kaka, ronaldo, drogba or torres
u chumps - May 1st, 2008 at 5:43 pm
everyone on here are such a bunch of clueless wankers…
Whats more, since fuckign when have spurs been linked with this boy ? NEVER! stfu making up shit about a player who wouldnt even cut it at EPL. he is best at italian or spanish footy
simon wenger - May 1st, 2008 at 5:44 pm
why would any class player go to the spuds. Berby knows hes made a howler and is off. why would a good footballer want to play in just the Eufa and carling cup? Class players go to Manure not City, Liverpool not Everton, Barcelona not Espanol, Madrid not Athletico GET IT
Never Red - May 1st, 2008 at 5:48 pm
Gooners make me laugh. Your unlucky number is definately 5, you lost 5-1 and you let a 5 point lead crumble. Your not champions league calibur. You’ve been exposed as the fancy pants’ of football time and time again this season. Your football isn’t as good as Man U’s and your team has no character. You Are Shit!!! O and next season you’ll make it FIVE years trophyless lol
simon wenger - May 1st, 2008 at 5:50 pm
Never Red. most people leave reseve matches early. your useless mob have been leaving early for the last 18 premiership matches since you managed a win against your superiors. Top 4 this year we were told, just out the bottom 4 more like. your a small club in Edmonton
Canuck Yid - May 1st, 2008 at 6:33 pm
What made the 5-1 victory so sweet, is that it exposed the Gooner team for what it really was. Imagine, one player head-butting a teammate and the manager pretending it never happened! Imagine a team led by nutters like Gallas and Adebayor expecting to lift some silverware! Talk about dreaming.

Tras (gooner) - May 2nd, 2008 at 1:57 pm
Well. well, well! The girls from white hart lane really have got their hands up their skirts! Enjoy your CC victory! Its about the best thing thats happened to your club in a LOOONG time. (see what £50 million can buy?) You are simply not good enough for the Champs league, your mediocre run in the UEFA cup proves that!
We make the champs league CONSISTENTLY every year and I would take that over CC VERY year.
Your squad and manager where supposed to swing the balance of power in North London this season but you have actually gotten WORSE under RAMOS!
Your scouting system is so awful that all they seem to do is read the press to see who Wenger is “allegedly” looking at and then try to buy them. (witness modric and now Villa, who says he WANTS to play for Arsenal)
If you spent as much time on your own team instead of worrying what we are doing, you MIGHT make it into the top half of the table.
Chavski and man yoo? Good luck in the final. If its as “compelling” as the FA CUP final, we all better ingest a lot of caffeine to stay awake!
Anonymous - May 2nd, 2008 at 2:45 pm
Well said Tras, these sp*rs clowns really ain’t got a clue, they will never make champions league so they have to hang on ofr whta they’re good for, semi table finish every season. See how much 50 million can get them? Fair play they have won a trophy and we haven’t had silverware for ages but like any Gunner will tell you, it will come in due time(Prem, Champs League). Yeah we play the best football, yeah we don’t always take our chances, yeah we buckled under pressure this season but we entertain. We and Man U are the reason the prem is what it is today, and we don’t need silly money to do it.
A_goon - May 2nd, 2008 at 4:00 pm
spurs fans speak of their CC victory as if they won the champs league. but who can blame them, they hadn’t won a thing in years. when will they make their long awaited champs league debut? only God knows. as for as, we’ve even reached the final. and don’t even say we were lucky coz we bit real madrid and juventus along the way.
as for u guys, u can’t even win the uefa cup or pose a real threat to the uefa cup favourites. so how r u gonna enter the champs league. only if the top 4 is forcefully and unfairly demoted 2 the championship. and u might still struggle 2 enter.
