Liverpool close in on bargain buy: Looks like a decent signing

It appears that Rafa Benitez is getting nearer and nearer to picking a new right back on a free.
Liverpool are a step closer to landing Borussia Dortmund fullback Philipp Degen on a Bosman.
The 25-year-old is believed to be signing for Liverpool on July 1 after his contract with the Dortmund comes to an end. (various)
The 25 year old appears to be more of a squad player than a spectacular signing especially as Rafa has a number of players to pick from in that position. However does this signing mean that Rafinha is no longer a potential target? What do Liverpool fans think?

No body know Skrtel before he joined Liverpool. Who knows, Degen can be super Good as Skrtel? Let Rafa do his Job. We trust in Rafa. If DIC were our owner, i’m sure our transfer target wil be like Messi, Kaka. With current owners we only able to sign one Superstar player at a time(Imagine one player t a time with MU 3 to 4 at a time). Rafa will definately need time to assemble his desired team. Give him time, not easy(Rome is not build in day).

Get rid of Alonso, no passion, no penetration, no delivery - Gerard to sit with MAsch and David Villa up front with Torres and Queresma on the wing. Lahm left back, Carragher right back and Agger with skirtel in the middle. Come on…..

Look I doubt any of us have sat down and watched Degen as a player like Rafa has (or must have) done in order to think he would be a good FREE SINGING… Obviously Rafa wants players who are known and talented (Rafinha and Alves being the two he wants for Right back) but he cant come up with the funds out of his own pocket… We need the Americans to either syump up the cash or get the F$$k out… Simple as

apart from voronin.. i think the other squad players rafa brought are all pretty decent.. skrtel, agger, arbeloa are all doin well.. those tat didnt have all been thrown out of the squad immediately.. look at nunez, josemi and even sissoko.. rafa noes wad players to take.. n if theyre not performing he noes when to let them go.. like wat leto is probably feeling now.. so degen free transfer?? i think its ok.. he looks a big lad.. that can probably defend and attack..

what to buy……we borrowed money to buy torres and babel….if no new owner …means no money or less money…..thats why we are still signing average player to turn them into star….a star for another 3 more season……we cant wait for 3 more season….if so the rest of the monkeys out there will have us a laugh between those season….i guess when a bloodline is a hooligan it ends a hooligan…..

Guys, am from Mauritius , to be frank , yesterday i watched the Chelsea Lfc match with passion , I think we needed to win, Arbeloa had a good match, to be frank Rise is shite, no more thaT Rise WE TRUST 3 years ago n Hyppia too old to match these high tempo matches,Despite of da crucial injuries(Aurelio/skrtel) we managed to score 2 goals on Chelski , where not many teams do so .
So ma point is we need a World class Left back,LAHM Mite be the one , Plz Rafa , our right back is secure n also find a true Right midfield,ROdriguez or Quaresma or even MANCINI can play there

Let Rafa,get on with it and stop moaning. There are four great prospects in the reserves,Plessis, Insua,Nemeth and San jose. I sure hope to see these lads play in our last two games, to see if they are ready to step up and I think it is time to cast off the players that are not good enough for Liverpool, Voronin,Riise,Pennant, Carson,Guthrie,Crouch and Alonso, will all bring in good money to reinvest in real quality. Need another top striker, right winger and two full backs to go with the young lads coming through and we may have A chance for next season.

Rafa needs the board to back him but cant be expected to go and buy the 4 or 5 players we need at £20m each…
since arriving he has re-built the whole team and when players have not worked out has got rid.. not like houllier who let them rot in the reserves and then leave on a free.
utd and chelsea have thier teams and now only strengthen with 1 or 2 high profile players a year. We are not in that position yet so he has to take a chance, and save some money in one place to spend in another.
He could buy a right back for 5m but thats 5m less on a winger or forward that we need.
Unless the board back him fully, or DIC come in with money to spend, then can people stop saying we need Villa, SIlva, Quaresma, Lahm, and about 5 others who will all cost £10m+ each… we cant afford it!

We need replacement full backs as Finnan is too old, Riise is unreliable and Aurelio + Arbeloa are inconsistent. Bring in English talent!

Leave Rafa at the job he has started . The biggest signing has to be Rafa himself extending his contract . As for players Michael Johnson , Garteh Barry would be good signings but we are all living in cuckoo land if we think the American owners are going to sanction 100 m to buy players . We need to increase our ground up to the capacity of the Gooners or Manc Theatre of dreams to give us more cash for players . Some great reserves coming through , take a bow Garry Ablett
