Rafa Benitez has been linked with just about everyone and it was only a matter of time before this hot shot was going to appear the radar
Manchester United and Liverpool are set to do battle for Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz come the opening of the summer transfer window. (various)
It is believed both will make bids in the region of £12 million.
Santa Cruz has been one of the buys of the season and even though he has apparently committed himself to the Ewood Park outfit could he really turn down a move to a Champions League side? Surely a better buy than David Bentley! Would Liverpool fans welcome such a bid? Is there anything to this rumour or do you think it’s mere paper talk?

Sergio Aguero, Karim Benzema, David Villa, dont know of any others that would really come in and improve the first 11, unless Rafa has got another unknown lined up like Martin Skrtel; who will give more options no.

we don´t need another striker!!!
my idea of the team is to sell Riise(3m) Finnan(2m) Benayoun(5m) Voronin(4) Kuyt(7-8m) and Kewell(2m) that combined is 24m that we can use with our transfer budget wich is around 20-30 m.
Buy: Rafinha (10m) Lahm (10-12 m) Silva (15m) that combined is 35 m so all this great player woul be at liverpool for as little as 11 m. And talking about squad players every team has to have squad players in their team except chelsea who spend around 30 m on every player..!! maybe this degen guy isn´t that bad at all…

Frikkadellzz….how exactly do you plan to sell Kewell when his contract expires in July and he will no longer be a Liverpool player!! Do you really think that any team will pay 4million for Voronin or 8million for Kuyt based on their current goal scoring exploits.
Crouch (7million) and Alonso are both more likely to go….otherwise why would we be linked to so many central midfielders such as Diarra, Barry and Michael Johnson to name but a few!
Degen looks like a good buy with a good engine - consider him to be a younger version of Finnan with more skill.
Me, I would love to see Rafinha and Lahm come into the defence with Mancini and Alves (he can’t defend!) in the middle and Villa or Santa Cruz (he has scored a hat loads of goals and has proven that he has the tempermant and the quality for the premiership) up front.

Villa is a good choice. Liverpool still need a good right winger. We have been linked with Barry but i think Bentley is good. Valencia shoud get relegated. Then Silva(10m) and Villa(25m). Torres and Villa….. Liverpool will never lose.

id love to get Santa Cruz. He’s been the best value buy this season and is still quite young. Would make a great partner for Torres, altho i still think Babel could do the job with Torres… imagine the pace and power of those two combining up front! Man Utd will get Berbatov i reckon so Cruz would be availible to come to Anfield… LETS GET HIM!!!

I think rogue santa cruz would be a fantastic strike partner for Torres. All this talk about him not beeing good enough for a top four club is rubbish. With the amount of goals he has scored this season in his first season in the premier league and with a team like blackburn who arent exactly the best of attacking teams he is doing fantastically and lets not forget he put one past us not to long ago. I think we should get rid of kuyt, sure he is a work horse but we dont need someone who will work all day and get nothing out of it, get rid of crouch sure he is a good squad player but it is obvious he is not happy, sell benayoon he is great technically but we need someone with a little more power strength and pace like Babel and in terms of defence agger should be back next seasn along side skrtel which would make a good defence but we need another defender with pace because sure hypia has been a great servant but he is just past it and carrager is loosing his pace now and is looking very wary. We need a left and right back because aurelio just isnt good enough i would personally have chosen riise to play before him and arbeloa is good and reliable but we need someone who has pace to attack and then get back and defend something he does but he just hasnt got the pace for it.

Bill Vector .. Its true Riise is crap but kuyt is very effective . he may not be attractive or may not score a load of goals but he does a lot of running and some1 like that is important to any team. you cant have all flash … look at Madrid. Santa Cruz wuld be a gud buy

Yes dadal, riise was good but he can’t run any more. Kuyt is very industrious and has a certain popularity based on that - and has scored some important goals but he’s no winger, he’s no finisher, he links okay with others, but he doesn’t cause a defence many problems whereas Crouch would have given Terry and Carvalho a headache at any stage of the game. Liverpool are NOT flash - they need a bit of flash quite frankly - and they need a manager who can read the game properly - preferably from up in the stand the way Shankly and Paisley always did. Proper managers.

from my point of view..we’ll need very quality striker such as fast runner,good finishing,good header,awesome skiller,good passer and also good teamwork with his team..so we all need PATO for sure cos he got good talented player and also he’s still young..we have to think most suitable with torres..and we want a awesome striker!!!!! dont think wisely..choose most talented striker…or u’ll regret~~~~~~~ santa cruz,pato,nasri,alves,ricardo kaka n aaron lennon nice for the liverpool transfer~~ do the right choice in choosing player!!~~ don’t waste ur money transfer the untalented player!!

Well thats truly said… After so many seasons, liverpool have always fought for fourth place. Look at our line up.. torres, gerrard, babel, masch, carra. We have much stars than arsenal yet arsenal are ahead of us in the league. Benitez has failed. If in season 08/09, he fails to bring the league to anfield, he should step down. As for next season, I would like rafinha, ashley young, david bentley, thierry henry and santa cruz in my lineup. Zat would be a fire cracker.
