Reports have emerged suggesting that Tottenham are now the club most likely to procure David Bentley from Blackburn…I think not!
Spurs boss Juande Ramos is determined to win the race to sign England’s emerging star David Bentley, who is ready to quit Blackburn in the summer, and the north London side are apparently favourites to beat Liverpool to sign the England international.
Although manager Mark Hughes has said recently that he expects Bentley to stay at Rovers it is thought that the lure of a return to London could prove too much for the young midfielder. (Express)
Given Juande’s recent intelligent capture of Luka Modric for a club record fee I find it very hard to believe that the Spaniard would spend a huge wad of Daniel Levy’s money on a player who could prove more hassle than he’s worth.

Blackburn are a small club with small support. That said, I think Huges has done wonders considering the limited funds/players that the club can attract.

If Rovers are so great, what else have you won in your entire history compared to the inferior Spurs? Admittedly i have always had a soft spot for Rovers and have been doing well with Hughes but where were you lot in relation to us in the last 2 seasons? forget the size if the clubs for a minute. Tottenham are in Euro next year and Blackburn wont be. For a player like Bentley he will want european football of any kind. He will leave Blackburn like Berba will leave Tottenham. The players in football are mercenaries, no one is truly loyal anymore so dont expect it. Until we get CL then no player will be with us for more than 3 years at the most. Its down to the manager to achieve quickly. I hate to put this pressure on Ramos because I would give any manager 5 years before anything can really happen but such is the pressure of the PL that this time frame is dramatically shortened. At the end if the day the simple question is who would spurs prefer bentley or lennon.
for me its lennon potential which Ramos can unleash over Bentleys evident skill but equally evident ego!!!

I’m a Spurs fan and I gotta agree with some of what Rovers has said - Blackburn aren’t generally a selling club and Hughes is doing an excellent job there - having said that I’m sure if the right offer came in for Bentley he would become unsetled and jump ship at the first opportunity - can’t realy see Bentley coming to us though-his best role is a free role behind the strikers - we have Modric now who will give us the creative edge

It is all so sad to read such nonsense. Blackburn and Spurs are both great clubs with strong traditions and good support. Berbatov is a great player–certainly world class. He is a joy to watch, whatever club you support, if you think otherwise you do not appreciate soccer at the highest level. Bentley is still learning and may one day be top class but he still has a way to go. I hope he stays at Blackburn as Hughes is a good manager and can develop him further to reach his full potential.

Iv just checked the Spurs website and iv found Berbatov 15 Goals and keane 14. Now i may only have a C at GCSE Maths but i can tell the Santa Cruz’s 17 is higher than 15 or 14.
