Should We Grant Avram Some Credit?
May 2, 2008
Constantly under pressure Chelsea manager, Avram Grant, is one of the odds-on favourites to lose his job this summer as Roman Abramovich looks for the true successor to fans favourite Jose Mourinho. The press specualte about his replacement on a near-daily basis with names like Frank Rijkaard, Gus Hiddink and Michael Laudrup.
Yet not all is doom and gloom at Stamford Bridge. Despite Grant being portrayed as a grumpy, boring person who will never be as good as Jose Mourinho has actually done rather well at Chelsea. He has managed to create a title challenge which seemed impossible back in January and also managed to steer Abramovich’s side to a Champions League ‘homecoming’ in Moscow.
So does ‘Toad of Toad Hall’ deserve less criticism and more recognition from the press and fans? Chelsea captain John Terry thinks so:
To get to where we are and still question his role is unbelievable.
It’s the first time we’ve got to the final. No manager or set of players has ever done that. Results don’t lie.

Got something to say?

Absolutely! It’s hard to argue with results. Say what you willl about his “boring” training regimen and attitude, Grant has weathered his storm with class and dignity–not always the easiest thing to do under Chelsea’s mercurial owner. The simple fact is that Chelsea standas a few games away from winning the double, and shutting out rival United in the bargain!
Got to give credit to the players for doing this well without a manager. But I doubt we’ll see it sustained next season. They might be better off losing the final and the last couple of league games, because without a coherent transfer and team development strategy, I doubt they can keep improving at the rate the big 3 + the clubs chasing for a space in the champions league all will.
It’s just a shame the chav players insist on putting on that godawful affected aggression the whole time. Without that it would be so much easier to wish them well against Man U.
fighting for the league title, in the champions league title. played fantastic against liverpool. how can you not give the man credit? fair play to him.
of course he shud be given credited. when he first entered chelsea i seriously doubted his capabilities and i’m sure i’m not the only one. even chelsea fans doubted him. the fact that they were singing jose’s name at every chelsea match shows how they seriously doubted him.
but the guy has taken chelsea to the champs league which is something no other previous manager has been able 2 do. he has also made chelsea challenge 4 the premiership title which is something no one wud have predicted after mourinho’s exit.
i think if the owner keeps him, he can be a real success story. whether the fans will grow 2 like him as much as they liked jose, only time will tell.
i am an arsenal fan
but i think avram grant deserves a lot of credit
he has done what the special one couldnt do and thats lead them to the champions league final
chelsea would have to be stupid to sack
i am a chelsea fan
for me i think Avran Grant deserves a lot of credit.he has beenable to take us to champions league final.i hope he will use a strong aspect so that we can wine Man U
