Bolton captain Kevin Nolan reckons that it won’t be the end of the world if stroppy perma-pout El Hadji Diouf does a runner at the end of the season in search of some Champions League action – and instead urged everyone to focus on the other players who could join a potential Reebok exodus. Nolan confessed:
“Obviously we’d miss a player like Dioufy, but Jussi Jaaskelainen and Ricardo Gardner are out of contract, and Ivan Campo as well. They’ve been massive players for us and we have to make sure we secure those three first.
“They haven’t come out and said they want to leave, but Dioufy has done. If he wants to leave, then that’s entirely up to him. We’ve always prided ourselves that everyone wants to play for this club. Everyone’s in it together.
“There’s no doubt he’s shown that while he’s been here, but if he wants to go, then let him go – it’s not the be all and end all.”
First off isn’t calling Diouf by his pet name a bit too nice after the Senegalese striker opened his gob at possibly the most inopportune time and confessed he was going off in search of a new team, and secondly – are Bolton going to have any players next season?
