Newcastle after classy £10m pair: ONE good, ONE average
by Mr Comfort on May 6th, 2008Kevin Keegan has today bemoaned the fact that sides outside the Champions League Quartet are doomed to failure
“The top four next year will be the same top four as this year, what I can say to the Newcastle fans is that we will be trying to get fifth and we will be trying to win the other league that’s going on within the Premier League. I haven’t got enough money and I wouldn’t be able to get the players anyway (to do any better than that), so I will soldier on with what I’ve got and maybe add one or two, maybe three, depending what’s available.”
(various)
Newcastle are lining up a £4m bid for Fulham midfielder Steven Davis who has impressed while on loan at Rangers this season.(Daily Mirror)
Kevin Keegan is also keen to bring £6m rated Everton striker Andrew Johnson to St James’ Park. (Daily Mirror)
If Steven Davis doesn’t move to Ibrox then I strongly suggest Keegan goes for the Northern Ireland international. He really has been in phenomenal form since he moved to Glasgow. He may have only arrived less than 3 months ago but he has already started 18 matches and has helped Walter Smith’s side towards a possible quadruple. I am not quite so sure that Andy Johnson would be such a great signing, the Magpies already have a few decent strikers (all of whom are better than the Everton man) and I am sure there are better strikers on offer. What do United fans think about these two possible additions to the St James’ Park squad?

why do pricks like that insist on coming on newcastle sites to talk drivel. Are they perhaps jealous that our club despite it’s consyant under achievement is a big draw and much bigger than the shit they support. If the pair of pricks want a fight then tell them to bring it on.

Well said JP
You can tell they have a great and wide football knowledge with narrow minded comments like that which add absolutley no value to an article.
That said, both are decent players but would rather have Davis if I had to choose between them. Really think the midfield and defence need priority. Then we can go out looking for a striker who can challenge Viduka as the target man, while Carroll learns his trade.

Andrew Johnson chained the matches when brought on as sub for Everton in Europe; by the way does anyone think he sounds and looks like David Beckham?

I am a newcastle supporter and I am sick of you dick heads that hate newcastle. We aren’t the best team in the league and we are far from it i’m first to admit that but we show the best support in the league. Most of the teams in the top 4 have soo called fans who never sing at matches, never been to a game and some cant even name all the players this makes me angry as hell. Newcastle win F all every year but they don’t go diving about when they clearly don’t need to do it because teams eg. man u arguably the best team in the world but they dive like they dodging bullets. They make a mockery to the english game and it makes me absolutely SICK. Lots of teams are taking this on and in a few years the beautiful game will loose all beauty. I have a mate who rekons he supports man u and he thinks george best still plays and giggs is retired and i know alot like that fucking IDIOT CUNTS

Mark Viduka is going to stay at Newcastle next season, with Owen and Martins leaving. Apparently, Keegans looking to Philip Dixon-Smith (Free transfer from Bournemouth) to partner Viduka. Viduka is going to play as target man and Dixon-Smith is going to use his pace in behind the defence. These forwards, if Newcastle generate enough funds from the sales of Owen and Martins, will be supported by Deco, with three in midfield behind.
