1. Torres
2. Babel
3. Voronin (ha ha lol only joking hes crap) even though i hate united id have to say nani or anderson
thecat - May 14th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
Torres a given and probably Santa Cruz but I’d have Tevez in there. Slightly biased but he’s scored some vital goals for us otherwise it’d be Yakubu.
Craigie - May 14th, 2008 at 4:23 pm
Bacary Sagna, Fernando Torres, Roque Santa Cruz.
Anderson will be great, but for this season and his price tag he hasn’t done that much for me.

Don’t be fooled by what the papers and WUM’s say. Anderson cost £8M + add ons not £18M according to certain quarters. Winning the league this year meant we had to pay Porto another million. If (hopefully) we win the CL then it’ll be another million and so on for the duration of his current contract. Its the same with Nani and to a lesser extent, Hargreaves as more was paid up front to Bayern.

torres
iceycalm - May 14th, 2008 at 5:00 pm
bakary ‘the baker’ sagna should def be top three. fernando ‘el nino’ torres obviously, carlos ‘the hulk meets a troll doll’ tevez has been oustanding for united. marty ‘mc fly’ petrov started really well and kept it going for most of the season. kenwyne ‘reggae gangsta’ jones probably kept sunderland up and looks the business.
iceycalm - May 14th, 2008 at 5:01 pm
nani and anderson have been superb buys also, fair play to the wee bastards.
selvason - May 14th, 2008 at 5:26 pm
i think tevez kinda disappointed me even though i am united fan. tevez not a prolific scorer. should have scored more goals.

Torres and RSC are shoo-ins, but Anderson? No bloody way. You can’t base all this on potential. I’d say Kenwyne Jones deserves a mention, just because of how important he’s been to his team in terms of staying up. Same with Danny Murphy. As much as it pains me to say this, Jagielka has been a great signing.
Honorable mentions to the likes of Martin Skrtel. Defenders never get enough credit.
iceycalm - May 14th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
selvason - you must be disgusted with rooney then!
louis - May 14th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
torres, tevez, and sagna

Benitez..buy KARIM BENZEMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! young talent….
RayParlourforPresident - May 15th, 2008 at 7:40 am
selvason - 18 goals in his 1st full season isn’t enough for you???? what sort of lunatic says that?
Sagna has been quality, Torres clearly in there and I’d go for Babbel or Anderson
I do think Santa Cruz has been good and for 3M was definitely the best value for money purchase made
Frank Lampard - May 15th, 2008 at 8:16 am
1. Torres
2. Tevez
3. Santa Cruz
other good signings include Sagna, Hargreaves (no one should doubt that he brings in 110% in every game), Babel and Skrtel
Dirk Kuyt's Next Door Neighbor - May 15th, 2008 at 9:58 am
Dede, Benzema will cost a bomb, might not adapt and might not fit into rafa’s plans. Not to mention the competition form other teams.
allahs boot - May 15th, 2008 at 10:05 am
1 torres. 2 santa claus. 3 martin skrotum
dixiedeansboots - May 15th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
Based on the improvement they have brought to their respective teams compared to last season, my vote would go to. . . . Jagielka (with pleasure) Torres (between gritted teeth) and its a toss up between The Yak and Santa Cruz - and being a Blue I’ll lean toward Mr Yakubu.
allahs boot - May 15th, 2008 at 12:58 pm

Bacary Sagna
Fernando Torres
Carlos Tervez
Engr Don - May 15th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
Yakubu is shit, not a complete striker,he can’t dribble even if his life depended on it
Uncle Necky - May 15th, 2008 at 2:44 pm
I’m a Liverpool fan but I have to say Santa Cruz. Torres is a better player without doubt, but surely a signing has to be judged on value for money as well as how good the player is.
3.5m for 19 league goals has to be the best signing. £184k per goal if you like compared to Torres’ £806k per goal.
Uncle Necky - May 15th, 2008 at 2:46 pm
Surely the everton fans suggesting Yakubu are taking the piss. Great entertainment as always.
Anonymous - May 15th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
cant believe sagna isnt in their top 10, he should be at least top 3. Came in CHEAP, played GREAT - ALL SEASON, for me best player in the Arsenal team this year, and to cap it all he made it into the TEAM OF THE YEAR.
i would say
1. SANTA CRUZ carried a team on his goals, and his price was amazing
2. SAGNA as above
3. TORRES, well who didn’t expect him to be great apart from some stupid pundits? (’he doesnt score enough goals’, well guess what he was playing for a team like santa cruz is playing now, of course he isn’t going to be la ligas top scorer), only bad thing was his big price, which for me makes him not as good a ’signing’ as the other 2.
Patrick - May 16th, 2008 at 1:03 am
Torres
Sagna
Tevez
Rhyle - May 16th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
It’s outrageous that Sagna isn’t even in the top 10 - one of the buys of the season for sure if not quite ‘cheap’ at quite a hefty £7m! When did £7m become cheap?!
Great shout from Fife about Keegan but you’ve got to put Roy ’someone happyslap me please’ Hodgson in that bracket.
Torres wins it hands down though…although I admit that grudgingly….followed by Santa Cruz, especially when you consider his price compared to Torres.
Lukas - May 17th, 2008 at 5:01 pm
in my humble opinion the best signings have been:
Torres : can’t say anymore than agree with what’s been said before….
Tevez: can’t fault the blokes work rate…it’s like he has a duracell bunny up his arse…
Kenwyne Jones: put the wind up alot of defenders this season and is still very young….
special mention to Andy Reid though who showed when he went to Sunderland thaty he actually is a quite a class act and not a lazy little shite like I thought…I doth my cap!
man utd fan - May 17th, 2008 at 5:41 pm
tevez - he saved many games for united to pimp the title
santa cruz - good value for money
anderson - showed glimpse of class in a young age
torres is missin coz i think his record against big 3(not 4) is poor especially against mu. he scored most against weaker teams
Rhyle - May 17th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
Laughable Man Utd fan - you’re putting in Anderson because of GLIMPSES of class at a young age and leaving out one of the top strikers of the season because of his record against the top 3? And you expect people to take your opinion seriously? Take the blinkers off and respect what Torres has done in his first season in the Premier League - he may play for Liverpool but that doesn’t diminish his achievement.
marky - May 18th, 2008 at 11:52 am
Santa Cruz above Torres as he actually scored more than 3 away goals in Premier League ,
Liam Cole - May 18th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
Torres obviously has got 2 be the best signin. 26 mil yea but isn’t he worth it
Malang Jabbie - May 19th, 2008 at 10:56 am

YEA BOOIIIIII!!!!! - July 6th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
Alrite listen up bE-ouches… First of all torres cant count as a great signin as erbody nu bout his talents its like buyin Ronldo and sayin dat its da best buy…And he is exactly like Adebarndoor(im sorry cos i am in fact an gooner) he scorees 3 goals agenst Derby but when the Big matches come he chooses to sit out quitly and do nada…. Tevez was shite missing sitters…. Anderson AKA: Mr wish i was ronaldo, did nutin all season and was usually on da bench… Da only 1 I agree on in dis list is RSC Den it shud b as followd:
Sagna: Is da best RB in da leauge (proven, hes in the team of the year)
Kenwyne Jones: Pretty much Saved Sndrlnd by himself
Peace people ///////////////////[[[[[[
anon - July 16th, 2008 at 3:36 am
no way is anderson in the top three
so overrated and its easy playing in the best team in europe
torres was brilliant
sagna was the best right back
third would be either tevez who scored crucial goals late in games or santa cruz who exceeded expectations
