Mexican striker joy for Arsenal - are there more signings on the way?
by stresster on May 23rd, 2008Arsene Wenger has described Carlos Vela as a similar player to Eduardo, and Arsenal fans can look forward to seeing the Mexican striker in action next season. Le Boss has confirmed that the 19-year-old will be involved in the first team next season, after the club landed a work permit for the player yesterday. The Daily Telegraph report that Vela has been at the club for eighteen months, although spent last season on loan at Osasuna.
“Vela will be involved with the first team next season. He has played the whole season at Osasuna on the left wing but, for me, he’s a central striker, an Eduardo type. He’s a great young player.”
Who are we to doubt the man who has a proven track record of moulding rough diamonds into polished gems? The same article reports that the Gunners are on the brink of signing Marseille midfielder Sami Nasri, while Lyon’s Hatem Ben Arfa continues to be another Arsenal target. Surely fans of the club must be heartened by this kind of news, despite Flamini leaving and Hleb’s agent continuing to flirt shamelessly with the big clubs on the continent.

Gunner #1 - May 23rd, 2008 at 8:59 pm
Great little player, at only 19 he has time to improve still. Hes direct, pacey and strong given that hes not a big lad, reminds me of tevez, a rough player brought in off the streets of south america. Ive seen him in action a few times for Osasuna and when i heard he was contracted to The Gunners i punched the air like we’d won something. Great news on his work permit, cant wait to see him in action for us next season, next stop, marsielle to pick up some french wonderkid!? But you never quite know with wenger and his wallet do you.

I live in Mexico and have followed his career. Over here we think he’s overrated, much like Giovani Dos Santos, the other mexican wonderkid. Hopefully Arsene will prove us wrong.
Cheers

Robinho is a dream move but highly unlikely, Chelski want him and have offered 35M Euros for his services, very unlikely that he would choose Arsenal over Romans millions, especially after snubbing us twice. Shame tho, would fit in really well at emirates.
Ben Harfa won young player of the year, similar award to what Cesc won over here, good player with alot of pace and skill, and the rumourd 25M pricetag is a huge inflation, the reality is that he could come for around 13M.
I hear Nasri is close to being signed but i have yet to hear anything concrete on the grapevine.
Tedd found an interview with Aquliani saying he doesnt want to come to emirates, which is a shame as i rate him highly.
I really think we need a good CB though, im not so fussed about replacing flamini to be honest, i think Diaby can play there or Denilson, they are not the finished article but then neither was flamini until this season.
Have faith in Master splinter, like he said, its not major surgery the squad needs just some minor patching.

Well.... - May 24th, 2008 at 6:22 pm
he hasn’t actually done much in Spain. In fact, he’s been poor. I don’t think he’ll get a game at the Emirates to be honest. Arsene hasn’t had much luck with his’next big superstar’ signings. Denilson, Walcott, Meriva, Vela are good players but no more than that. None have actually progressed since being at the Emirates. So maybe it’s best to offload and start again.
DANIEL ASABRE - May 24th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
l want vela to dedicate himself to the club and provide more goals for the club.
ruprec - May 25th, 2008 at 5:12 am
Well….. ur an idiot, firstly Denilson wasnt a big money signing, it was quite a small tranfer and Walcott’s starting to get better. This kid is only 19, and he’s a starting player for Osasuna a decent club in a quality league. If arsene Wenger rates a player then history has showed there generally good players. No one wanted Henry when he was young, no one rated Abebayor, but Arsene craeted a quality player.

i think Vela is a good signing he scored a good number of goals playing on the wing in spain.
And for those of you who think AW is not good enough ur stupid
he is highly regarded and I think ppl would jump to sign him if he ever leaves (i hope he doesn’t) His mgmt style is very good and he will form a MANU like legacy cuz i think he will stay for another 10 years and make arsenal the biggest club ever.
ANd i think the biggest transfer money paid for a player has been for Eduardo in the last year and he is a hit sadly he got injured.
And pound for pound arsenal has the best value for money transfers in HIstory.
