£5million youngster gives Celtic and Rangers something new to fight over
by Chris on May 27th, 200820 year-old Burnley striker Kyle Lafferty is the latest subject of the Old Firm battle for supremacy in Scotland, with both sides rumoured to be interested in the 5 million-rated young star. Considering how tightly contested this year’s championship was, the summer transfer season could be key in deciding who comes out on top next year.
Both clubs failed in bids for the lad last season, which is a bit embarassing, but at least they suffered together.

Embarassing? For who??
They tabled bids, they failed. Happens across the country all the time.

Ghod knows why are we are interested in this lad to be honest. What exactly has he done for Burnley or the North or Ireland? Not exactly prolific is he? I hope to Ghod we drop our interest in this ‘player’ as soon as possible. What a waste of money he would be! Cheers! Rotheram Bhoy.
GILLEASBUIG GRANNDA - May 27th, 2008 at 5:49 pm
Celtic do not need this fella-they need a better defence and particularly a solid central defender and a couple of fullbacks
the run in was fantastic -Celtic with the largesse aavailable in England would be in the top four in the Premiership but I would rather have Scottish independence and FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Puskas BHOY - May 27th, 2008 at 6:05 pm
Well we are all entitled to our opinions and I don’t necessary agree with Grannda with all he has said..
Scottish Independence sounds good… Cheers fellow bhoy.

Kyle Lafferty is not worth £0.5M never mind £5M.
He is not good enough for Celtic, let Rangers have him for £0.5M if they want, he’s more their kind of player…a forward who cannot score goals!
Here we go 4-in-a-row!
Rangers1690 - May 27th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
Kyle is a true blue and used to play in our flute band back home.
He’d fit in well with the home fans at Ibrox.
Sir David Murray should splash his £50m UEFA Cup war chest and spend the £5M needed to get him.

Murray must be gutted that no one -absolutely no one-will want to take over Glasgow Rangers after the Manchester debacle -disgraceful actions which sullied the Scottish name. The Rangers fans are especially loved by Man U fans, nobody wants to have friendly matches with them In England in case the hordes create mayhem. It was a good time to offload the club ,David, but the fans wrecked your best made plans……………………….Celtic for ten in a row in spite of carpark Mac Curry
Fecker - May 27th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
Rangers are skint so rule this one out for them. And Strachan is too smart to buy this piece of shit. Rangers are getting Kenny Miller apparently hahahahahaha. He’s a fucking shite cunt.

You tarriers will never see the light. We have TWICE as many fans as you.
You are small time stuff and the relationship of RANGERS to septc is similar to that of Real Madrid to Tenerife.
Live with it. You may have pockled the league to win it this time but it will never ever happen again.
You are cheats.

That sir, is racism and an embarrassment to your club. In no other walk of life would comments like that be tolerated, but it is allowed in Scottish Football.

dry your eyes bluenoses, jealousy is never an attractive trait!
6 out of the 8 leagues this century tells a story - your team is too old, your chairman is doing a worse job of selling the club than an Apprentice car salesman, your clubs balance sheet is more unbalanced than Gazza, your manager is morally bankrupt and your support is sometimes a disgrace and always an embarrassment! The best you guys can hope for is a couple of domestic cups here and there, the odd Uefa Cup adventure and the accompanying battle with the local police force.
You are currently experiencing the start of a generation of domination of the SPL by Celtic, so enjoy the ride, oh, and if you dont mind, try to behave yourselves!!!

Indeed -the all conquering Glasgow Rangers of the cheap lager induced fantasies just managed two SPL titles by one point and one goal in this period. Both of these aided and supported by oddball referees and some strange defensveconcessions…”.if Rangers need goals they will get goals !!!

Celtic ,on relatively limited resources, have coped very well with the games with the loaded English clubs-supporters get on well with each other which is a very good thing

Rangers 1690-
You want your team to spend £5m on this dude because he played in a flute band? Go for it. I think that rangers’ scouting network have a set of criterion that may be a little more studious than that. I suppose we are talking about David Murray here, and anything to get ‘one over the Taigs’ is most welcome.
NoTimsInEurope-
Keep saying those words to yourself and you might actually really start beleiving them you little fantasist you. Look in a mirror everyday and keep saying things like “The Taigs cheated to win the league” and “It wisnae us that rioted in Manchester, it wis big bad english an’ ulster dudes” and you will really start to believe it to be true! It’s working for the scottish meeja. Go on delusional huns, give it a try! It’s fun!

WATP and No Tims in Europe
Where has any Celtic fan written anything sectarian? The only intolerance I have seen on this page so far was WATP’s rant about Celtic fans being ‘gypsies’.
I take it you are not aware of the connotations of this statement are you?
Or the connotations of your “why dont you go home” ditty?
Idiots the pair of you, it is just as well you are not wholly representative of your support.
Oh and the poster named BJK Richard Gough did, it is NOT ACCEPTABLE to use child abuse in point scoring
Michael, Glasgow - May 28th, 2008 at 10:19 am
nonsense, I’ll be stunned if he ends up at Celtic. Sounds like another planted story by Murray to make Rangers look good when he goes there, spouting Pierre Fanfan-type rubbish about turning down Celtic first. Gie’s peace. You think Celtic would pay £5m to sign Lafferty before taking Georgious Samaras for £3m??!! hahahaha, aye right….
BJK?!? - Richard Gough DID!!! - May 28th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
Evil Genius,
Wholeheartedly agree, it’s NOT acceptable, but I’m sick of the whole lack of condemnation from anywhere outside the walls of Celtic Park. Time to start fighting fire with fire. It’s the only language these thick deranged cnuts may understand. No more dignified silence.
Apologies to any decent minded person offended.
madness83 - May 28th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
He will never go to Celtic for the simple reason , the day any player from N.Ireland wears the hoops the loyalist football supporters of this sectarian wee province would be issuing death threats towards him and his family , he would be booed every time he played for his country his life would be a living hell so lets be honest if he choose rangers over Celtic it will not be a football decision it will be a sectarian one
KayMacG - May 28th, 2008 at 1:24 pm
It appears that our hooped friends are chuffed with the league win.
Are you chuffed that your club used the Tragic name of Phil O’Donnell to postpone an Old Firm game (that you KNEW you would get pumped in)
Only in Scottish Football.
Very Sad.
MADNESS 83…………..is that why Neil Lemmon signed for Gers???
hair like spaghetti - May 28th, 2008 at 3:36 pm
KayMacG - the fact that you and your verminous cronies keep on bleating out the same excuses, such as the one you mention, shows how much this seasons league capitulation hurts!
The game was called off as a mark of respect, and for no other reason - if you have facts that prove me wrong, show me the evidence!
The fact that the biggest game of last weekend was a tribute to Phil at Parkhead, and not some sponsorless, piss-poor cup final against the giants of QotS, shows how much the Celtic Family care for, and remember their own. A fantastic display of rememberance and togetherness, ideals that appear alien to the vast majority of the ‘pavement piates and vagabond scum’ of the south side!!
Any more piss poor excuses that you would care to trundle out? Any chance you could remind me how beneficial the postponement of the Gretna game was ‘for Scottish football’?
Enjoy your short summer, the qualifiers start earlier every year - UEFA CUP run again by late August, anyone?
madness83 - May 28th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
KayMacG .. if big Lafferty wants to sign for Rangers there is nothing wrong in that .. the point i make is that he would be a hate figure if he dared sign for Celtic .. Niel Lennon seemed to be ok for N. Ireland when he played at Leicester but as Soon as he joined Celtic , the loyalist bigots came into play and the so called supporters where up in arms , Anton Rogan is another example just be honest any player fron N.Ireland who wants to play for the Hoops would have to take all this into consideration so then it becomes less of a footballing decision and more based on the sectarian nature of those who supprt N.Ireland football and just to finish KayMacG is there any real footballing reason to join Rangers ??
KayMacG - May 29th, 2008 at 4:40 am
Hair like Cadete. I have no excuses Gers thru the league away, end of.
However answer me this why ask for a postponement of the old firm game for a PAST player by years? and not ask for a postponement for a current employee (Mr T Burns)?? Surely the sad loss of Tommy is greater than O’Donnell????
No? Ok mate.
Madness, we have moved on since the Rogan and Lennon days (i would like to think) There have been recently former Gers players on your books. ie Mark Brown, Pressley, Miller. They are not exactly hate figures. The problems you mention stems from the Northern Irish, i believe however you are trying to point score against ALL Gers fans.
Twists And Turns - May 29th, 2008 at 8:29 am
KayMacG:
Hmmm…..What exactly was the pivotal role that Princess Di played in the Rangers squad? Phil O’Donnell’s family actually asked Celtic to request a postponment on their behalf as it was felt it was still a little too soon after the tragedy.
Also, to suggest that Tommy Burns was a sadder loss than Phil O’Donnell is a bit tasteless. Both were tragic and premature in the extreme, there was no “more than”.
I think you’ll find that Mark Brown & Steven Pressley are not exactly ‘hate’ figures as such because they ain’t playing much and their effectiveness is zero.
Young Mr Miller on the other hand, well the majority of Rangers fans have made their feelings clear with regards to him. Nothing to do with him being a badge-pounding ex-Celt? When did Rangers fans previously show such disdain to an alleged transfer target due to him being ‘not good enough for the jersey’ before? Where were the howls of derision for Christian Dailly and countless others?
madness83 - May 29th, 2008 at 10:14 am
KayMacG: thank you for pointing out that no matter what team , religion or nationality when you sign for the Hoops and give your all you will always be welcomed at Celtic by players and fans alike , and no i,m not trying to point score ( as you tried with the memories of Tommy and Phil ) against all Rangers fans just the sectarian , racist and bigoted ones from both Scotland and N.Ireland ( who are mostly Ranger supporters ) who refuse to move on and who would rather wreck towns and cities , make nazi salutes while in Israel ( why do those who are so British salute Nazis who fought against Britian ??? ) ,constantly sing sectarian songs and get so angry about players blessing themselves ( as players do all around the world will they all be punished or just the Celtic kind ) so this problem is not an N.Irish one , it is a problem that has been there and its has been allowed to go unchallenged by media , or those in authority , in the SFA , it is a problem of Scotland and N.ireland it is a hatred of anything Irish , catholic and Celtic it is a problem of Racism sectarianism and outright bigotry it is a problem that has been seen on the streets of Manchester and Barcelona a problem that needs to be dealt with as it has now been seen around the world and you are part of that KayMacG you are the one thats attcking all Celtic supporters
ard mhor ort agus slan go foil
KayMacG - May 29th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
Twists and Turns (Tommy Burns) if you take a read mate at my post. I said
“Surely the SAD loss of Tommy is GREATER than O’Donnell”
By that i meant greater loss to CELTIC. Dont get me wrong, i was totally stunned and genuinely saddened with Phils death and the circumstances surrounding it. More so than Tommys due to Phils death being sudden. However Tommys history with Celtic to me means he should be a greater loss (in my opinion)
If Phils family asked for the postponement then fair enough, there endeth my argument. With regards to Christian Dalliy etc. It is of your opinion that we (Gers fans) should question the talent on offer. However i think Dailly and the like with the exception of Cousin have done a sound job on arrival. There were no howls of discontent from me.
Madness. It seem obvious to me that it is yourself that is caught up in your own religiously biggoted mind mate. The crap you are coming out with is the reason Scotland will never rid itself of this bile. Not to say that my lot are squeeky clean.
There is good, bad and downright evil on BOTH sides. It is always goni be a case of “my das bigger than your da” when it comes to whos worse. When both sides are equally the same (in my opinion) Something tells me you believe the Prods are worse and the guys on my side of the same mind as you will say the Catholics are worse. Its tit for tat that will never go away and its becoming tedious to say the least. Just to finish. Barcelona and Manchester are the only Cities of NINE that Gers have visited this season that the media managed to build something on. A handful of guys p!ssin in the street is apparently BIG news, NO ARRESTS. Manchester, an estimated 200,000 Gers fans (not all Scottish, not all football fans) decended on the City. 40 arrests were made, of which ELEVEN were charged. I was embarassed by those idiots and if they were Ibrox regulars then they deserve everything they get.
And im SCOTTISH mate so hitting me with your foreign tongue is of no use and of NO RELEVENCE to me.
Bye for now.

i,m C.O.I and the language is Gaelic and there is a belief that it came from Scotland to Ireland and you translated it very well and i suppose those brave men around the Policemen where trying to lift them of the ground and please don,t and try and pedal the myth that these where not real Rangers supporters and how will they get what they deserve if there is a see no evil ,hear no evil and speak no evil attitude , and lets not pedal the myth also that one side is as bad as the other ..
“This has to be said about Rangers…as a Scottish Football club they are a permanent embarrassment and an occasional disgrace. This country would be a better place if Rangers did not exist”.Ian Archer in the Glasgow Herald..
this was after a friendly with Aston Villa in 1976
We must face Ranger’s problem fans
If all of Scotland is not to suffer, we need to admit that Rangers have a specific problem
This is a Rangers problem, not a Scottish problem, nor even an Old Firm problem. The Tartan Army has built a global reputation for its sense of fair play and fun.
