Ramos plans intelligent £3m Spurs raid: Very useful squad player

Clearly it doesn’t take a mad scientist to realise that Spurs main shortcomings are in the defensive area. This is a problem that Juande Ramos has identified and has gone some way to fixing with the signings of the likes of Hutton, Woodgate and Gunter in the January transfer window, and now he is planning another solid, if not spectacular, signing to boost his backline.

Getafe’s Argentine defender Daniel Diaz has apparently welcomed speculation linking him with a £3m move to Tottenham. (The Sun)

29 year old Argentine international Diaz has a wealth of experience and may be just the kind of signing that helps Tottenham in terms of potential injury/loss of form cover. Clearly Ramos is drawing up a list of La Liga players he admires and can see working well in north London, the former Sevilla coach knows who is who in the Spanish top tier and this knowledge could pay dividends as the WHL outfit looks to make big money signings as well as potential bargain buys such as this one. What do Tottenham fans think Ramos can achieve in both the short and long term? Is talk of a top four finish a little premature or a legitimate goal for next season?
