Wantaway Arsenal winger claims Premier League is the best
by stresster on May 28th, 2008Not that it’s going to stop him leaving the Emirates if he and his agent have their way. Alexander Hleb had just started to peak for Arsenal when, all of a sudden, he goes out for an ice cream in Milan and comes back to London with his head full of ideas about playing for Inter. Setanta report that the Belarussian has described the Premier League as the best in the world, although also explains that the poor lamb has found it tough going in England. Who’s going to get the violin out for this millionaire footballer?
“I have learned in England that there is still so much to improve,” said Hleb in Frankfurter Allgemeine.
“I have always dreamed of playing in a great club. Now I have learned that it is not so easy and a lot of work.
“The first year was a killer. I felt very lonely.
“It was clear that The Premier League would be a challenge – but with this pace, I have not expected this.
“The Bundesliga is still a good league, but a season in England feels like two in Germany.
“I will tell you an example: When I was here at the beginning, everything went chop chop, so fast. The pace was madness, even in training.
“I look for the ball in front of me, then where I can play it – when I looked down again the ball was gone.
“The English league is the best league in the world.”
Is this Hleb trying to curry sympathy with Arsenal fans before he says his goodbyes and jumps ship? Real Madrid are now reported to be the front-runner for his signature and it’s hard to see Arsene Wenger keeping the player against his will.

I’ll stand by my club and The Prof forever BUT even I am beginning to wonder if there must be some truth in the unrest caused by wage demands of our first team squad. If we want to compete in the long term then we must mix great young talent with experienced heads and pay enough to get the best of that experience (NOT 30 somethings but those with a track record of delivering). We must stop this cherry-picking every summer. We must stop players choosing the media-provoked unrest from thinking they can gamble their importance on getting even more pennies (hmmm). Let;s pay top whack to those we want to keep, stop the media wolves and attract the top players we need.

According to Skysports Hleb has said this talk of him leaving has been nonsense.
Don’t get your hopes up but he might be staying. If he stays AND we get Nasri (I’m not expecting us to have both) imagine our attacking midfield next season…
Vela, Rosicky, Fabregas, Hleb, Nasri, Walcott
I’m creaming over the thought.

Read helb’s comments on sky sports.read below.
I have a contract at Arsenal until 2010 and now only think of the game against Germany,” he told Spox.com.
Nonsense
“I have also read [that I have said I want to leave], but I do not know who has written it. That is nonsense.
“I have also read that I wanted to move because Arsenal would win nothing, this too is nonsense.
“But I would really not like to comment on the issue really because there is nothing more to say, because the club means so much to me.
“I have learned so much from Arsene Wenger. This man has always supported me and given me the chance to come to Arsenal. I would therefore never say anything negative about Arsenal.
“If I’ll go, then only in a different league, in any case, in England, there is only Arsenal for me.”
