Liverpool line up £60m trio: THREE signings to make Rafa’s men title chasers
by Mr Comfort on May 31st, 2008Of all the players linked with a summer move to Anfield, and there must have been near on a hundred already, the three that seem to be backed by most of the Loyal Liverpool faithful are reportedly edging ever nearer to the Merseyside club, and with this trio on board surely Rafa’s men will be bona fide title chasers in 08-09.
Liverpool want to repeat the success of £25m-rated Spanish striker Fernando Torres by buying £25m-rated Spanish striker David Villa. (Guardian)
Steven Gerrard intensified the ill-feeling between Aston Villa and Liverpool last night by urging Gareth Barry, his England teammate, to “better his career” by moving to Anfield. Martin O’Neill, the Villa manager, has already expressed unhappiness at Liverpool’s public pursuit of Barry and was understood to be furious upon learning of the remarks made by Gerrard while on England duty in the Caribbean. (The Times Online)
Espanyol have turned down an offer from Liverpool for their Spanish international Albert Riera. The Reds are believed to have tabled an offer of around €12m (£9.5m), but that falls considerably short of the La Liga club’s valuation. (The Independent)
Of the three deals right now it appears that Gareth Barry is the most likely to join, David Villa has made noises about wanting to leave Valencia for months now and is now reported as saying that he will discuss his future post Euro 2008, where he and Fernando Torres will surely scare the hell out of defenders as Spain look to avoid choking as they tend to do at most Finals tournaments. Rafa clearly see Riera as a player who can add a great deal of creativity to his side, however the fact that Espanyol want a rather unrealistic £19m for the 26 year old may be a sticking issue. Of the three who do Liverpool fans want most? If Rafa secures these three does he then have to consider his defensive issues or are they solid enough in that department?

Yeah, i would take two out of three (no more needed), Villa and Barry would be wise signings, Riera isn’\t worth that much
Stevie - May 31st, 2008 at 6:05 pm
I’d take Villa, not the other two.
shadda2002 - May 31st, 2008 at 6:19 pm
we wont sign any of these

what about frank ribery along with barry dossena and krankjar could be interesting
Maestro - May 31st, 2008 at 6:26 pm
We need to get a decent left back as Aurelio is injured most of the time. I hope Riise won’t be back come next season (I wanna know how he scored THAT goal).
Of the three mentioned here, Villa is class and would be a very welcome addition. Barry and Riera are quality players but the prices quoted are ludicrous. They’re not that good.
rowan - May 31st, 2008 at 6:32 pm
In: Villa, Barry and ribery. + deggen and dossena
Out: Riise, pennant, crouch alonso vorronin.
promote nemeth from the reserves.

Can’t see Ribery coming from Bayern, he’s only been there for 1 season. SG wants Barry and so does RB. Must be a reason why and I think Barry would step up his game playing for us. Could be a great signing. Villa would be outstanding say no more. Not sure about wingers as I don’t think there are many world class wingers available. Those who are ,over priced, over hyped.

gareth barry will be a liverpool player next year deffo

Ribery will be playing champions league with bayern next season and will also have klinssman as coach + liverpool will need at least 30 million. Chelsea was also interested in that player.

Agger/Skertal chances, we know about Carra/Hyypia and then Wheater, possibilities,
Return of Warnock, Local and English, Then Alves, Degan/Dossena

why rafa don’t try to buy R.Quaresma???he is behind a player who have not impress in the premiership..Riera ???Who’s that boy????
Why don’t RAfa bid for Ibrahimovic??
To improve the right wing why don’t he bid for D.Alves instead of just making noise about the transfer speculation on G.Barry
reina
alves skertel agger dossena
quaresma gerrard masche
torres villa ibra
oooooooouuuhhh what a team this could be….but……
Redman - May 31st, 2008 at 8:05 pm
Barry will sign unless he has no ambition to play in the champions league with of the biggest clubs in the .competition
Ribery would be great but it is not likely to happen.
Quarema or Joaquin are possible signings to play out right instead of bench warmer Kuyt. Degen and Dossena will probably not be very exciting so I wouldn’t get my hopes up about them. Riera is not good enough.
Peter - May 31st, 2008 at 8:21 pm
lets just get David villa to Liverpool, he’s class not Barry. Even if we have to spend 20 + on him. If we want the title, we need a few world class players like him .
CK - May 31st, 2008 at 8:30 pm
Nice Team Fawzi,
Santa Cruz and Owen would cost 15M between them due to clauses
Ibra would cost 20

We need wingers and a striker and thats it. If alonso goes i reckon lucas can step-up and replace him. Insua has been touted as one of the up and coming leftbacks so we don’t need dossena. Weve got Bruna, Pacheco and Nemeth coming threw who should be shit hot. We should sign ashley young, bentley or david silva. i don’t think Rafa will replace Kuyt on the right, and we should get Aguero or Villa. Quarezma is to overated, unless he comes less than 8mil he’ll be a waist of money to inconsistent.
This could be the team next season imo
Reina/Bouzanis
Arbeola/Degan
Skrtl/agger/carra/hyppia/hobbs/san jose
Insua/Aurelio
Lucas/mascherano/plessis/Duran
Kuyt/Bentley
Babbel/young/benayoun(he’s bollocks but he’ll be useful next season)

Berbatov ahead of David Villa and a dynamic wide player like Richardo Quaresma or Daniel Alves would make LFC serious EPL\CL contenders. Watch out for Nemeth; he has the makings of a genuine superstar.
Dews - May 31st, 2008 at 9:04 pm
lucas kuyt kewell voronin are shite
finnan and rise are over it
alonso is class and should be let forward more
crouch is class and can disurupt play to allowtorres and babel and others more chances.
i also think the youngsters should get more of a chance
also pennant isnt bad. either is benyaoun
need a top winger, a top playmaker and a top striker if sell (both kuyt and voronin)
attacking wingbacks are a bonus but not essential

LOL this makes me laugh alot of dreaming is going on out there, CK i like the idea’s behind your team selection, but we’re never going to get alves he’ll go the chelski or manure b4 us, money talks, as for david villa i would love to see him play for us as well but that would mean blowing a large chunk of the budget on him, where i actually believe the money would be better spent on wingers, a player like silva would be perfect for us, technically gifted, able to take players on, can cross a ball, play’s anywhere across the midfield and has pace, i believe we could sign him for under 20m maybe 15m, krankjar would also be nice maybe crouch to make the wieght of the cost for him, although i would like to see crouch play more, but if rafa thinks otherwise who am i to question him as for alsono i will be deversated to see him leave, barry is a good player would team up well with gerrard and monster,
i also believe the young lads should be show the door to the first team, nemeth looks quality seems to have a natural eye for goal like fowler but moore pace and abilty on the ball, still young but no reason not to play him. plemssis also looked the part on his debut, hope to see more of him.
in rafa i have faith as for the likely lads (hicks, gillet and parry) i have none.
be gone fools

Looking at the Liverpool squad:
========================
Goalkeepers
Renia (Class Keeper)
Itande (Crap) - Sell for about £3m
Carson (good keeper with England prospects?) Sell for £8m to £10m
Defenders
Carragher (Class Defender) KEEP
Hyppia (Veteran Defender but another year left?)
Agger (Another Class Defender – But is he injury prone?)
Riise (Not as good as one was) – Sell for £3m to £5m
Aurelio (Injury prone and not the best of player) Sell for £5m
Finnan (one of them players who inconsistent) Sell to Fulham for £3m
Arbeloa (Not good enough) Sell for 2m to £4m
Midfielders
Lucas (young and talented and defiantly a world class player in the making)
Gerrard (World class) KEEP
Pennant (Never really shown class) Sell for £3m to £6m
Alonso (inconsistent but a class Midfield) Sell for £12m to £15m
Leto (Not impressed by what I have seen) Sell for £4m to £6m
Benayoun (Few good performances but not enough) Sell for £6m
Mascherano (World class Defensive Midfielder) KEEP
Babbel (Very Hot prospect) KEEP
Strikers
Torres (World Class and still young) KEEP (Laugh at Chelsea offering £50m as that is a joke!!!
Crouch – (Good forward but inconsistent) Sell for £10m to £13m
Kuyt (Works hard but doesn’t score enough) Sell for £8m to £12m
Voronin (Simply not good enough) £4m to £6m (which would be good as he was a free transfer)
Possibly Money gained from Player sales
So out of Keepers sold = £10 to £13m
So out of Defenders Sold £14m to £17m
So out of Midfielder sold £25m to £33m
So out of Strikers sold £22m to £31m
Total £71m or £94m
Hicks and Gillette say there is estimated £60 to £70m to spend
Total = £141m or £164m
Maybe buy:
Joe Hart (Good younger keeper) would cost up to £10m
Gabriel Heinze (Maybe just to stick it to Man Utd but is a good player) £4m
Philip Lahm (Class Wing back) Cost £12m from Bayern Munich
Michael Johnson (Young with some impressive performances) £10m from Man City?
Gareth Barry (Player with potential) £12m from Aston Villa
Franck Ribery (World Class player) £20m from Bayern Munich?
Villa (World class striker and with Torres – Would be a nightmare for defences) £25m
Total required = £93m
Players that would be dreams if they signed:
Robben (is a world class winger) £18m from Real Madrid
Nigel de Jong (Young but promising defender who can play anywhere across defense line) £4m From Hamburg
Steven Taylor (Young Hot prospect of a defender with England career for certain) £6m to £10m (Maybe Part Exchange players) From Newcastle.
One thing I would like to see is Rafa buying quality young players that need not long in the reserves and can be used in the first team straight away as we need a squad which is strong but can be changeable if needs be.
mad - May 31st, 2008 at 10:33 pm
why do liverpool always buy Quantity over Quality they seem to always buy rubbish players instead of spending a lot on one good player
Steve - May 31st, 2008 at 11:11 pm
I’d take Villa in a heartbeat. What a brilliant way for Torres to gain assurance in his partnership.
Barry? I don’t think he’s really needed is he, I don’t see why we don’t just keep Alonso unless of course, madrid or whoever is willing to buy are offering 20 +.
Riera, I don’t really know or have seen enough of him to judge, but I reckon we need to look in and amongst the region of the Czech’s, Turk’s or Dutch for quality wingers. That lad who scored that brilliant goal for the Czech’s against Scotland looks quite good. Overall, wingers and a striker are a priority. LB will have much less pressure to deal with if we had a quality attacking force.

bob - June 1st, 2008 at 12:46 am
Villa is key. Torres and villa would be best partnership. Lucas is hardly crap. But i don’t get y they want Barry. Hunntelaar would not be too bad or Messi but thats just wishful thinking. They have gd team but need another striker to support torres and also a winger. Riise should be moved to left midfeild wer he can score screamers and a new left back is needed cause aurelio is injured. Alonso is best passer of the ball and can score from his own half y would u sell him.

CK, have you visited Planet Eart lately?
RaulRaj - June 1st, 2008 at 2:38 am
Ricardo Quaresma, Villa, Barry… You can add ribery to that line-up. Ricardo Quaresma is still considered better than Ronaldo so you can imagine if he explodes alongside Torres etc. Its quite apparent that defenders just aimed for Torres, especially as how Man U did, the past season. They’ll have more headaches to cope with, with the likes of Quaresma, Ribery and Villa and probably Barry too
RaulRaj - June 1st, 2008 at 2:49 am
Barry is just an issue with Gerrard. Friends. Rafa has to give in to Gerrard’s one request. Another reason is an English influence. England hasn’t been producing many promising talents in as many years. Its the same ol multi millionaire faces whi really don’t have much hunger in an England outfit, and add their egos to that mix of a bunch who are just retaining their places in the squad. Where are the Ronaldos, quaresmas, torres’, villas, riberys, messis, mascheranos, nanis of the new generation who incite fear in defenders? Barry at liverpool would help England in the midfield of better understanding. Gerrard can do better given the authority and support but I don’t see that happening in most England games as there are other egos involved all over the pitch of superstars. .

its all well saying get torres and villa upfront together, but lets face it ,unless we sort our wingers out (back and front) we wont have the players to feed the hungry world class torres and villa. we need to sort out the supply or the likes of a torres/villa front line will not be used to its full devastating effect.

We’ve also been linked with Frank Ribery. Buy him, Villa and Barry, and that will be a massive step forwards. If possible (ie if the tight-fisted americans hand over some cash, which isnt likely) I would also like Quasmera, and David Silva. Can only see at max 2/5 coming to liverpool due to financial constraints. Oh for DIC.

Dossena
Ribery
Barry
These are the areas of the pitch we need some improvement. these players shud add alot of strength.
Ribery seems unlikely but if benitez pulls it off, hats down!
I was hoping babel would benefit alot from an gud euro 2008 and a strong pre-season. very unfortunate, as i think he has such a bright future, all the ingredients to be a top top player. hopefully he can hit the ground running next season!

ps. dont shell out 7 mill for lennon either. hes ok, but if you need to get rid of kewell because of his sicknotes then why would you want to bring in lennon. i wouldnt be surprised if he has played less than poor old harry over the last 2-3 yrs. wake the fuk up!
king kenny 18 - June 1st, 2008 at 1:26 pm
HI MARK IN DUBLIN. I dont think we have a chance of signing F.Ribery ,chelsea ar very keen on him, and will not want to see him go to Liverpool and will outbid us and offer him more wages .David villa is also wanted by chelsea and they will try to outbid Liverpool as soon as a serious offer is made by them. But hopefully Rafa will persaude him to team up with Torres and maybe Rafa can snare David da silva to, but will valencia sell two of their best players to Liverpool?Quaresma is an exellent player, great skill but will he perform cocnsistantly in the Premiership in his first season,or will he take a couple of seasons, this is a risky purchase that will cost the guts of 30m euro ,Oh and chelsea want him also! I think G ,Barry is an exellent choice ,versatille and conditioned to play in the Premier league…and at liverpool He is also their captain and best player! He will be of much more use than Alonso .Simple the problem for Liverpool now is Man u have lots of extra cash from their two prem. titles and now champs. L final win ,and Chelsea will have an open cheque book again and Mourinho will want big signings at Inter this summer and he will want alot of the players the English clubs will want, bring Kristian nemeth into the first team,He is quality and could turn out to be a great partner for Torres , similar to Torres and Aguero ,Aguero is only 19 and was partnering torres at 17/18. At best we will sign Bentley ,Barry,Dossena,Degen, and possibly David villa and a quality CB
Adam - June 1st, 2008 at 1:37 pm
If Alonso does go to Juventus or Madrid then definately get Barry in but would also like to see David Villa join us. If he did we would have the strongest strike force in the prem and maybe in the world!
Joey Jones - June 1st, 2008 at 2:05 pm
I recks Crouch,Kuyt,Pennant, Voronin, Alonso & Riise should go
And Villa, Silva, Barry & Quresma come !!!!!!
Ribery would be class but it’s a doubt!!!
Dossena at right-back because Aurelio and Riise SUCK!!!!!
Dave Rosser - June 1st, 2008 at 2:13 pm
Simple really. We know the players we’ll sell this summer:
Crouch £10m to Portsmouth
Rise sell for £5m
Finnan sell for £2.5m
Voronin sell for £3m
Pennant sell for £5m
Alonso sell for £15m
Total Income from sold players - £40.5m
Transfer Investment - £50m
TOTAL SPEND - £90.5m
And with some money available these are the players I would go for:
* Quaresma (£18m)
* Schweinsteiger (£20m)
* Villa (£25m) or Podolski (£18m
* Rafinha (£12m)
* Marcelo (£5.5m) or Lahm (£12m)
Budget £87m max or £73.5m
Done deals and with these signings we’d win the Premier League at a canter. Simple plan of buying only world class players.
1. Reina
2. Rafinha / Degen / Arbeloa
3. Lahm / Aurelio
4. Carragher
5. Agger / Skrtel
6 Mascherano
7. Schweinsteiger
8. Gerrard
9. Torres
10. VIlla
11. Quaresma / Babel
king kenny 18 - June 1st, 2008 at 2:49 pm
would just like to make a piont on the foreign player saga, which is obviously a plan which has been hatched between the French, italians, and probably the spainish who are all disgruntled with the fact that English clubs are dominating the champions league final for the last four years, and all of the top four in Premier lg. have made it to the final, liverpool twice, Arsenal and this year two Prem teams in final. Most people say its only because of the foreign players and the English clubs ability to spend big and pay wages in sterling..but for liverpool it was Gerrard who got them to the final in 05 and he started the comeback from 3-0 down and played super all the way to penos. It was an english man who won them that in traditional spirit, its deffo been the best final in a long time.Paul sholes another English man scored the only goal over two legs with Barcelona which booked Man u thier place in this years final ,and it was another English man who canceled out Ronaldo’s gaol in the final , Frank Lampards goal took it to penos for another great european cup Final night .So Man u and liverppol have won and chelsea have been close for the last four years thanks to English players, and i should also mention , terry and the two coles, rooney, ferdinand, carrick, heargreaves, brown, carragher, crouch, pennant who have all contributed to this euro successBut Arsenal on the other hand who play all foreign players in there teams havent been so succesful, rarely they get past the quarters and the one year they got to the final …they lost….so are foreign players making English clubs better in europe ….i dont think so…
lfc are the best - June 1st, 2008 at 3:11 pm
villa brillient
barry ok
riera would be just another gonzales, nunez, pennant,
king kenny 18 - June 1st, 2008 at 3:17 pm
lukas Poldolski is one of the best young strikers in europe he would be a good choice after david villa..Schweinsteiger would be another good choice for the right side of midfield,he is big and strong ,fast and has lots of skill. He is deffo suited to he premiership. We would have a very strong midfield then, with Barry ,Gerrard, and mascherano we could then go to the brigde and fight and start to get some wins ,and the same at old trafford, we need more presence in our team T. ujfalusi is available now on a freebie and he is expierenced and would give us some good cover or form a good partnership with carra, and maybe buy some top quality CB like mexes, bruno alves, collucini, navarro etc.dossena or eric abidal for LB , Rafinha or dani alves for RB and maybe someone like sergio garcia,da silva, villa, requilme, maxi, aimar, for some creativity ,next year torres will be marked in the premier and he will need the support from Gerrard alot more, we will need some crafty play makers in midfield .
clarko - June 1st, 2008 at 3:29 pm
king kenny, torres was marked this year and it just didnt stop him.
i think you are dreaming about poldolski, i personally think he is already past his best mate.
all the england players that you mentioned as being why those teams have been successful is a tad obnoxiousi have to tell ya fella. share the fkn congratulations round a bit more mate. you startn to sound like a manc.
barry by the way will not make our midfield any better by the way. we dont need him fella. wide players mate, thats whats needed.

kuyt 8-10
pennant 5-7

alonso 15-20
riise 5-8

total cost= around 90 million
that is not all of it rafa has also got another 30 million from he board which means he can add a few more as he will still have 25 million left i would say to spend it on that young dutch forward huntalar or something like that who should cost aroynd 17 million and for the remaining money keep it for the january transfer window
Paddy - June 1st, 2008 at 4:59 pm
You lot are in a dream world. We are penny pinching all over the place. Managers says we are over pricing the players we want to sell but the players we are trying to buy are also over priced. Barry - 16M (I suppose Man U paid 18M for Carrick). Bently hasn’t exactly set the international scene alight - I would go for Milner - also realistic. Villa would cost a bucket. Hicks get your wallet out and buy superstars - stop buying squad players, surely the reserves would welcome the odd chance to shine!
an - June 1st, 2008 at 6:39 pm
i only hope rafa not sell riise…one mistake is not fare.
villa is posible addition for liverpool. ribery not good enough and too much expensive.
it couldd be great if we can get a deal over the quaresma the porto winger.
liverpool lack of atacking ability if quaresma, villa and another great left wing, and the next bpl will be ours. this season could ours but to much draw.. we allso unable to win over Fucking M.u for 8 years now.

Rafa needs to stop buying so many hopefulls and bring in some real quality.
Out with th following-
Itandje 2 m ( crap )
Carson 8 m ( dont need him use the kids as back up )
Finnan 2 m ( sell to Fulham )
Risse 4 m ( good servant but get the money )
Alonso 16 m ( good player but there are better )
Pennant 5 m ( Not good enough )
Crouch 12 m ( i’d keep him personnally but he’s going )
Voronin 3 m ( why did we buy him )
Benayoun 7 m ( incosistent )
Leto 2 m ( doesnt seem good enough )
Total 61 Million
Cash 30 Million
Total 91 Million
Buy the following
Ribery 20 m ( quality winger )
Villa 25m ( perfect for torres )
Barry 15 m ( great addition )
Deco 8 m ( better flair player to replace Benayoun )
Lahm 12 m ( proven quality ! left back i think )
Alves 15 m ( best right back around )

The good thing is this trims the sqaud a bit and enables a few more kids to get a chance like nemeth and Pacheo etc.

Please buy from the Bundesliga!
I like the fact that Bundesliga is similar to the EPL game. Mario Gomez would be good if David Villa cannot be secured. The VfB striker and last season’s player of the season beat Franck Ribéry (2nd choice) into second place and Paulo Guerrero (3rd choice) into third.
Defenders:
2) Clemens Fritz (Werder Bremen)
Werder’s right full back was on good form against Hannover and did his chances of making it into Joachim Löw’s final squad for the European Championships this summer no harm at all. Secure at the back, Fritz could often be seen as an additional wide midfielder as Bremen tore Hannover to shreds in the second half.
3) Naldo (Werder Bremen)
The classy Brazilian defender strode forward to set up Hugo Almeida for Werder’s opening goal in their 6-1 thrashing of Hannover before he beat Vinicius to the ball to head in the Green and Whites second of the game after just 27 minutes. Adept at the back, and a danger going forward, the Brazilian was on top form on Saturday.
4) Martin Demichelis (Bayern Munich)
Demichelis underlined why he is possibly Bayern’s best defensive player this season, and potentially the best defender in the league. His ability to read the game and deal with the danger quickly and without fuss against Duisburg led to Bayern having an easier time of it than they may have thought against a side close to the drop and fighting for their lives. Solid and dependable.
5) Mladen Krstajic (Schalke)
Krstajic was the match winner for Schalke against Eintracht Frankfurt heading in the only goal of the game with a flying effort after 65 minutes. Rakitic’s corner found the Serb in the middle and he scored a potentially vital goal in the Königsblauen’s bid to finish second. With regard the Champions League next season, the goal could well be worth millions.
Midfielders:
6) Thorsten Frings (Werder Bremen)
Frings has had a torrid season with injuries but he looked back to his majestic best on Saturday against Hannover. Biting in the tackle and driven, the midfielder enforcer allowed his team mates to attack and will have given German trainer Yogi Löw a timely reminder of his form.
7) Mimoun Azaouagh (Bochum)
A day after signing a new permanent deal at Bochum, U-21 midfielder Mimoun Azaouagh put in a ‘Man of the Match’ display for Bochum to show the fans just what they are getting. He scored the away side’s first goal himself against Karlsruhe, before turning provider for Dabrowski. He was the creative force in the Bochum midfield as they triumphed 3-1 over KSC.
The Werder midfielder was given a fine send off by the home fans inside the Weser Stadion on Saturday. Borowski will join Bayern Munich next season and his commanding display highlighted just what Werder will be missing. He capped an impressive display with a goal and a 6-1 victory. Werder’s loss will be Bayern’s gain.
9) Simon Rolfes (Bayer Leverkusen)
After two successive defeats, Leverkusen needed to get themselves back on track and midfielder Rolfes helped them do that against Rostock with a top performance. He kept his nerve before half time to stroke home a penalty to put the Werkself in front. Rolfes was the key man in the Bayer engine room and deserves a large slice of the credit for their win (alongside keeper Adler).
Forwards:
10) Lukas Podolski (Bayern Munich)
With both Luca Toni and Miroslav Klose out injured, the responsibility for getting the goals fell to Podolski, who was partnered by Jan Schlaudraff. The youngster didn’t disappoint (as he has done at times this season) scoring two early goals to send Duisburg down into the second division.
11) Stanislav Sestak (Bochum)
He may not have hit 20 goals and finished top of the goal scoring charts, but Stanislav Sestak has gone a long way to make Bochum fans forget about Theofanis Gekas. The Slovak hit his 13th league goal of the season against Karlsruhe to cap a fine debut season in the Bundesliga. He has quickly become a fan’s favourite and will be looking forward already to a second successful season for Bochum.
Honourable mentions:
As always there are only eleven slots in the team of the week, so some players who played well for their club haven’t made it. They do however get an honourable mention.
Anthar Yahia (Bochum) was a rock at the back against Karlsruhe as was Per Mertesacker for Werder Bremen. Petri Pasanen was on form at full back in a fine display for Thomas Schaaf’s side.
Another defender to impress was Marcelo Bordon of Schalke. Stiven Rivic was on top form for Cottbus as they secured their top flight status, while the whole Wolfsburg’s team deserve a mention for their display against Stuttgart.

We havent much money to spend this season, so i think the following would be decent signings for us:
degen (not my choice) - free
dossena (not my choice) - heard about 7m
behrami - heard about 10m
maxwell - Don’t have a clue but maybe get him for around 8m?
barry (not my choice) - 15m
villa - Rafa could probably get him for around 20-25m
£60-65m
Rob - June 18th, 2008 at 10:10 am
well, i think it is very unlikely that liverpool will sign all these players this seasaon. how many times has this happened where we have been told players are coming to liverpool, but in fact its just paper talk or even just rumours. this season we are short on money so i see it to be very unlikely liverpool will sign these players you are talking of. another thing is, for liverpool to spend 17 mill + on a gareth barry a player who is 27 and cant get any better is absoloutly ludicris. i would love liverpool to sign these players as would any other fan, but i just dont see it. i wouldnt get your hopes up liverpool are linked with absoloutly everyone, as is every other top four team in england. David villa is a possibility and gareth barry is a cert.
