Is Manchester United manager losing battle to keep Ronaldo?
by stresster on June 1st, 2008His latest set of comments regarding his star player and Real Madrid hint that all is not well in the state of Old Trafford. The speculation linking Ronaldo with a move to Spain is undoubtedly going to continue until after Euro 2008, despite the player claiming that he is happy to remain with the English champions. However, the BBC report that Fergie is adamant that the club would rather make the player sit in the stands all season than let him join their European counterparts.
Ferguson has met the Glazer family, who own the club, and said: “Their attitude is ‘To hell with them’.
“They’d sit a player in the stand, I’m telling you, absolutely no doubt about it, just to prove a point.”
Fighting talk from the Scot, although the scenario is at best implausible and at worst completely laughable. However, it does highlight the increasing pressure being felt by SAF as the Red Devils number seven continues to keep his options open.

United should ask for his decision today not three days time!!If he can’t commit his future to this club then put him the reserves and run out his contract than sell him to Barcalona to piss off Real!!No club is bigger than United and the only reason Real has 9 champions league trophies is to the tragedy of Munich!!The English Premier league is the strongest and has been for the past 3 years! The Spanish league is pathetic at late and there’s no reason for Ronaldo to go there to test himself? He’s got to the position he’s in world football now because of Fergie and United! If that’s not enough besides playing in the current European Champions side and potentially the greatest side in Europe for some years to come!!Then let him rot in the reserves and watch us retain both our titles from the stands!

man utd dont have to do anything as ronaldo has 4 more years left on his current contract; all this talk about ‘making a decision in two or three days’ is his business. he can say what he wants on tuesday or wednesday but man utd dont have to sell him. its simple really.

I hate to say it but I think his mind is made up and yes we can let him rot in reserves, but player power now rules. I’d love him to stay at least for two more years and then let him live his dream, but I’m not sure he will. If we do sell him I agree with you Kerry, and if not 150, then gotta be 90-100 mill up front, then buy Benzema, Quaresma and Micah Richards. Although Ronaldo is a star those three with cash to spare would make us stronger
