Liverpool want £3m keeper: But they can’t have him!

Given the relative failure of Charles Itandje you can understand why Rafa Benitez is looking for a more solid back up for Liverpool excellent number one Pepe Reina, with that mind the Merseyside outfit wants a veteran Frenchman to sign, however his club have no intention of allowing this to happen!

Bordeaux chairman Jean-Louis Triaud has told Liverpool to not bother trying to sign £3m rated goalkeeper Ulrich Rame.
Triaud was quoted as saying: “Forget all the whispers, there won’t be any departures. Because all our players are under contract but as well because they really want to play the Champions League with us.
The objective is to strengthen the squad.” (various)

35 year old Rame is something of a Bordeaux legend having spent the last decade plus at custodian, this past season was their best in years as Laurent Blanc led them to 2nd place. Clearly the former French international would be a very sturdy understudy but it may be that the Reds will have to look elsewhere for a good solid pair of hands to man the fort should Reina be due a rest. Who would Liverpool fans like to see as their second string keeper? Maybe they should hold onto Carson?
