Spurs and Aston Villa after £4m full back: Who’s the better club to join?

With Aston Villa finishing in their highest position in four years and with a great deal of talent in their squad and an experienced manager at the helm its understandable that they are now being linked with a great deal of quality, now they appear to be going head to head with Spurs for a right back of some quality.

Tottenham and Aston Villa are battling Juventus for Sampdoria’s £4 million rated Argentine defender Hugo Campagnaro.

“Talks with Juventus are under way, but I have planned a trip to England to examine the offers from several clubs,” agent Massimo Camarlinghi declared. “Aston Villa, Tottenham and a top club appear interested in Hugo. I am also due to travel to Spain.” (The Times)

Even though Spurs finished well down the field last season they are clearly a bigger club than their 11th placed finish, hence the signing of real quality in the form of Luka Modric. Campagnaro was a big help to the Genoan club as they broke into the top six in Serie A and qualified for the UEFA Cup. Who is a better bet for the full back if he does indeed leave Italy?
