Manchester United eye £15m strike partner for Rooney and Tevez: Could this really happen?
by offsidetrap on June 3rd, 2008After finishing off the 2008 campaign with the Premiership and UEFA Champions League titles, one would wonder how Manchester United could improve on a squad that is considered by many to be the best in the world.
Well If United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has his way, he may yet add another piece to the puzzle that would surely make every team in the Premiership quake in their boots.
The be-all end-all paper that is The Sun is reporting that United are prepared to use the chaos going over at Blackburn to their advantage. The club is planning a massive bid to take Paraguayan ace, Roque Santa Cruz, out of the turmoil and into the loving arms of SAF.
Manchester United are planning to bid £15 million to lure Santa Cruz to Old Trafford, after Sir Alex Ferguson was persuaded to give up on a bid to sign Thierry Henry. (The Sun)
Surely this is just paper talk, but if this deal were true, could you imagine how scary it would be to go up against a strike group that included Tevez, Rooney and Santa Cruz? I think I see four or five Premiership teams wetting themselves as we speak.
So what’s your take United supporters? Is Santa Cruz the man to push United even further ahead of the pack? Or would you rather see SAF spend the £15m elsewhere?

What kind of 3rd rate article is this? Are you stupid enough to think its anything other than the player’s agent trying to up the price. United won’t touch him with a barge pole. Take it from me, they’ll go all out for Karim Benzema whatever the cost.

Santa Cruz is not suitable for Man Utd. we need a player with height n power

Benzema looks class and sure will make squad even stronger, should also look at Quaresma and Diego, lets face it if in squad, stops competitors from getting hands on them.

Alves and Benzema are all we need this summer. Should be excellent additions to the squad.

I think we should get Crouch - he wants away from Liverpool, he’s English and he’s class.

For arguments sake, let’s say ManU gets Benzema. You think that he competes for a starting job over Rooney/ Tevez, or do you think he’ll be on the bench? I think he could push Wayne Rooney for a starting job for sure…Thoughts?

15 millions for santa cruz is just plain stupid money. he is worth no more than 7-8 at the very very maximum. that would still turn a nice profit for blackburn me thinks

Drogba wants away at Chelsea. He lacks balls upfront or in the box over there but he is a good finisher, has power, pace and can do the job for us. What a chance!!! Comeon Fergie, forget about WIP Benzema who may not be sold this year and get the finished product who will produce instant results in the immediate run: get 8 titles: Super Cup, FIFA World Club Cup, Lancashire Cup, Charity Shield, Premier League, FA Cup, Carling Cup and Champions League; Why not bring Benzema on board after closing the deal with Drogba? Drogba is available for heaven’s sake, thanks to the madness at Chelsea!!! If you don’t get Richards, be prepared for an embarrassing one man back four against us next season home and away within Manchester.

In my opinion, i don’t think we should invest in Karim Benzema because in honest fact, we are just getting ripped off by Lyon. If they want at least £30 million for him, who has only proven himself for one season, then im sorry United but do not fall for the trap. Honestly, if we were to get someone, we should wait for the Euro’s to finish, and have high tabs on Lukas Podolski, young and very talented. Can do the same job as Benzema is suppose to do.
