Newcastle prepared to splash the cash for £6.5m Argentina ace: Now this is a fantastic move!
by offsidetrap on June 3rd, 2008If King Kev gets his way, Newcastle could be only set to make their move for a midfield ace that could surely improve their squad. And to think, all it took was a little bit of bad karma at a recently relegated La Liga club to their potential dream a reality.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that Keegan is prepared to use Real Zaragoza’s drop from the La Liga to his advantage and make £6.5m midfielder Pablo Aimar his top signing of the summer.
The Newcastle United manager wants to sign Pablo Aimar, the Argentina midfielder, after Real Zaragoza put him up for sale at £6.5m. (Daily Mirror)
In terms of quality, Aimar would be leagues ahead of any other midfielder Newcastle currently has on the team; plus he has the pace and quality that Keegan has been desperately searching for this summer.
Would Newcastle supporters welcome Aimar to the squad? Is this the type of player the club needs to make a serious push for a top 6 finish?

I certainly welcome him to SJP with open arms, but I think it’s just more paper talk. We’ve been linked with hords of players already, but the only player we’ve actually made a concrete offer for is Modric.
So until they’re signed, sealed and delivered I’ll not get to excited!

I doubt we’ll get him as he is on the Transfer list and that will alert loads of clubs. Would be a great signing though.

how old is Aimar - no doubting he is an exceptional player but how old is he?

Pedro Idiota - June 3rd, 2008 at 4:29 pm
Does he still have his own teeth?
RayParlourforPresident - June 3rd, 2008 at 4:36 pm
would be a great buy - that’s the same age as fat frank and at a fraction of the price for double the ability,
not to mention the pace
FabregasISGod - June 3rd, 2008 at 4:43 pm
mind you, my gran has more ability than fat frank……..
Adedpa - June 3rd, 2008 at 5:18 pm
Forget his age, I live in Sierra Leone and i follow the Premier League as well as La Liga. I watched Pablo Aimar all season and thought he did well just that he played with some players who do not understand him and things does not seem right at Real Zaragoza you could see it as he plays just as Zarate at Birmingham so was he at Zaragoza (a class above the rest) he could bring that extra spring in midfield which EMRE could not give.
i say i’ll vote for him to come any time and any place.

hes to old hes been going down hill for a few years now why else would he be playing for a very avrage french club hes just gunna be another big name after a pay rise if he comes hes no better than emre
FabregasISGod - June 3rd, 2008 at 5:36 pm
he’s a good player but the EPL is more physical than la liga, could he cope at his age?
whitey - June 3rd, 2008 at 5:56 pm
aye, canny like
Peter P - June 3rd, 2008 at 6:13 pm
Yes, great player. NO chance of him coming to Newcastle….ever !

This is a load of crap and you thick geordies have fallen for it. A player of his standing in the game is not going to join newcastle. Ashley is trying to cut wages but this player will want at least 70k per week.
When will you lot realise that you are not a big draw in england and are not known throughout europe. There are teams in the champions league and in the uefa cup who will want this player so do you honestly think he will want to move to tyneside to play under the tactically naive keegan and surround himself with shite players like smith, duff, zog, owen, viduka, beye, harper, taylor, and the rest of the dross.
