Clarke to Goodison? Everton to pick up Chelsea’s useful assistant coach

Reports today suggest that David Moyes has set his sights on Chelsea’s Steve Clarke for the vacant assistant manager role at Goodison. Clarke has been popular amongst players and fans alike at Stamford Bridge, but all the managerial shenanigans at the London club have left Clarke in the dark about his future.

STEVE CLARKE has emerged as the new front-runner in the race to become Everton’s new assistant manager.

Chelsea’s search to replace Avram Grant has left Clarke’s position as assistant coach shrouded in uncertainty and there is a strong possibility that he will seek a new challenge this summer. (Liverpool Daily Post)

Moyes has been flying solo at Goodison ever since Alan Irvine left for Preston North End, and if the Everton boss is looking to bring in Clarke, it would be prudent to bring him in nice and early so he has time to bed down. Clarke, though, is rumoured to be thinking about moving into management, so this might not be a move he is interested in…
