Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Manchester United

There it is, in black and white. The Daily Telegraph are reporting that the Portuguese forward is done with Manchester United and has told his agent that he wants to play for Real Madrid. Whether this happens next season remains to be seen, although it appears that the Spanish club have finally got their man after the best part of a season trying to lure the world’s greatest footballer to the Bernabeu.

Cristiano Ronaldo has told his agent, Jorge Mendes, that he wants to leave Manchester United to fulfil his “dream” of playing for Real Madrid.

The Portugal international’s wishes have been made clear to the Spanish giants and their president, Ramon Calderon, will now move forward with his plan to try to bring the world’s most coveted footballer to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Ronaldo will be offered a deal worth £150,000 per week after tax, a contract that he feels is too good to refuse, but as well as fulfilling his financial demands, he has informed his closest advisers that the chance of playing for such a prestigious club is one he does not want to miss out on.

Many people will be wondering why a player would want to leave a club who are English and European champions to join a team who are famous for underachieving in the Champions League over the past few seasons. However, it’s clear that Ronaldo holds Real in the highest regard and it’s always been an ambition for the boy to play for the Spanish champions. This news will come as a blow to the Red Devils, especially as their number seven won so many matches singlehandedly last season.
