Man United winger could earn £300k a week at Madrid

Goodness me, just when you thought player wages couldn’t become any more astronomical. According to the Daily Telegraph, you’d be bang wrong to assume this, with Real Madrid willing to break several banks in order to bring Cristiano Ronaldo to the Bernabeu. Apparently, the Spanish champions are prepared to go double or quits as far as his salary is concerned, with money apparently being no object to this unique football club.

Real Madrid are prepared to offer Cristiano Ronaldo a world-record five-year contract worth £300,000 per week after tax in order to entice the Portuguese to the Santiago Bernabeu next season.

That deal would not only represent more than a 50 per cent increase on his present Old Trafford wage, but would also make the Double Footballer of the Year easily the world’s highest-paid footballer at £15m a year.

The Spanish giants are hoping that this mind-boggling offer, which works out at £75m over its duration, will finally tempt Ronaldo into breaking his silence and declare his intention to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Not only would Ronaldo become the highest-paid footballer on Planet Earth, he would also become one of the highest-paid sports stars on the globe. Which way will Ronaldo wriggle? Will the Manchester rain drive him to Spain or will he stay for an Old Trafford swansong?
