Should West Brom’s Zoltan Gera stay, or move to Middlesbrough or Everton?
by Dexter on June 5th, 2008Baggies midfielder Zoltan Gera, who is being wooed by both Everton and Middlesbrough, has been offered a fabulously decadent contract by his club in an effort to convince him to stay.
The club have made a final contract offer to midfielder Zoltan Gera, whose contract expires at the end of this month. The Albion chairman, Jeremy Peace, said: “We understand from his representative that Zoltan has received substantial offers from other clubs, but we have now tabled the best deal the club can make and we await his decision.” (Independent)
So should Gera stay or go? West Brom won the Championship with style and panache and he will be a big part of their season if he stays, or will he be lured by the smell of extra dosh at ‘Boro or European football at Everton?

Gera has been a good player for the Baggies and I would like him to stay. However, who can say what his motives will be if he moves on. I can understand that he would want the security of a Premiership contract for the next few seasons (which will probably be his last in English football) and therefore Middlesborough or Everton might be his best bet. What I can’t understand from a footballing point of view is a move to Fulham. Surely Fulham are odds on to struggle with the likes of Hull, Stoke and West Brom next season?

hmmmmmmm its a tough call i think his chance of winning a trophy is better with everton to be honest, and if like you say its likely to be his last few seasons, then he should go there.
but in reality, how many games would he play for everton? would he be a forst tema player or a bench warmer?
if its the latter he should stay where he is and play first team football

Gera has had a fantastic season for WBA and I for one will be sorry to see him go. i can fully understand him moving to a bigger/more established club for the chance of European football. But what beggers belief is that he says he will only move away fro West Brom for a more ambitious club, and then we read reports about him going to Fulham.
If this move transpires then Gera has gone way done in my estimation and sits in a lower league than Kamara,Koumas, or any of the rats that deserted the ship last season. I for one will boo his every kick next season. I hope he has a get out clause in his contract otherwise he will be playing fizzypop football again in just over a year.

iam a evertonian an have been saying for weeks have ya bollocks on it that z-gera will be evertons first new signing, and pleased with it too especially on a free transfer…………………..z-gera plays for in my opinion a great club in west brom who for the first time in years have got a genuine chance of turning a good few teams over this year an have a good season. so i ask myself why does he want to leave..?the only thing i could thing of is hes 29 now and might want to finish his carear at a bigger club playing in europe and regular premier league football .everton and villa are the only two teams who fit the criteria an i thought surley hes got some morrells rather than rub salt well an truley in the wounds an sign for a team who only score goals from set peices(30+) in total i think .so hes nailed on to sign for everton who certainly arnt blessed with wide men at the minute arteta, pienarr .zultan and family must be desperate two go an live in london!!watch out for the traffic sunshine.
