Sunderland boss Roy Keane isn’t one to be messed with this summer, especially after he made it known that he’s prepared to get rid of up to 15 players to fund his proposed £50m transfer budget.
The Mirror is reporting that Keane isn’t too impressed with where his squad currently is at the moment, so he’s prepared to bring in bright shiny stars for next season that could make the club a contender for mid-table glory (if there is such a thing)!
Roy Keane has started a clearout that could see up to 15 players quit.
The Sunderland boss wants to spend £50million on stars such as Damien Duff, Julio Arca, Stephen Ireland, Kevin Doyle, Nicky Shorey and Jonny Evans. But Ian Harte, Stephen Wright, Andy Cole and Stan Varga have been released.
And Ross Wallace, Paul McShane, Anthony Stokes, David Connolly and Liam Miller may quit. (Mirror)

It makes your stomach churn doesn`t it? The press and TV commentators talk about Roy Keane like he was a Brian Clough or a Bob Paisley when in reality he has achieved absolutely nothing as a manager! No top 5 finish, no FA cups, no Worthington cups, no Prem titles,no Champions League cups, no Inter Toto cups, not even the Teeside local pub team challange cup. His managerial skills and tactical genius kept Sunderland in and around the relegation zone for most of the season and narrowly avoided relegation . What Steve Coppell did in his first season in the Prem was staggering and eclipsed Keane by a zillion light years but he was rarely mentioned. Now Roy has this massive budget and he can rush out and buy all the Irish players he wants! (hmmm? and there was me thinking this was the ENGLISH league?) Maybe Sunderland should change their strip to all green and have a little leprechaun front and centre on their jerseys. My money is on another Sunderland relegation scrap next season regardless of who he wastes those English pounds on.

Keane has already been given the nod on 50million.. I was talking to a kid in a youth hostel in prague on monday and his dad has just joined the consortium so there must be a couple of extra quid going in too… we all know the prem clubs are getting at least 35million from TV so 50mill doesn’t seem much too me….
I think selling the bunch of shite that he wants to get rid of will bring in a few more quid to add to the 50million not fund it!!
