Would Ronaldinho be a success at Man City?
by Dexter on June 5th, 2008In a story normally reserved for the usual tabloid purveyors of transfer tripe and doggerel, The Times is reporting that Thaksin Shinawatra is set to double his efforts in his pursuit of Ronaldinho.
Mark Hughes has given his backing to Manchester City’s ambitious attempts to sign Ronaldinho, the Barcelona and Brazil playmaker, after being confirmed as the Barclays Premier League club’s new manager yesterday. (Times)
The idea of partnering soon-to-be-new-signing Jo with fellow Brazilian and all-round superstar Ronaldinho is definitely mouth-watering, but would the fizzy-haired Barca star be a success at Man City? It is no secret that many people at Barca were getting annoyed with Ronaldinho’s utter lack of form, fitness, drive, and effort - and it is surely a little telling that a big European club haven’t leapt in to buy him. Can Ronaldinho really handle the Premier League?

im not sure he would sign tbh…….. they can afford his wages sure, but why would he sign for a non CL club?
not many big name players now would come to a club because they can see them getting better, i think nowadays players sign for clubs for money and high level football

I hope he does come to us. The man has won every honour in the game and is now bored. Coming to an up and coming club with a rich owner who is willing to meet all his conditions and financial demands etc should be an exciting challenge for him. Also Manchester is a modern and interesting cosmopolitan city with a range of activities to do. It is also just 2.5 hours away from London. If City are successful in gaining trophies and such with him in our team, he would be a legend with the fans as much as Colin Bell was. Lets get him in. Ronaldinho Whooooaaaa Ronaldinho Whooooooaaa.

would love to see him in the premiership, don’t even care who for (apart from Spurs or Chavski)
not sure it will happen but would be brilliant to watch if it did

He’s won everything, he has the right to pick and choose. If City are going to give him the money, maybe it’ll be fun for him. With a good manager and a couple of other good buys they could be pushing top 4 within 2 seasons, good luck to them.

I can see Man City buying him; he is a bit of a fading star and Barca are looking to get in some fresh talent. I think it would be good to see City pushing the top four for Champions League places with some of the great players they have and Ronnie would be a great asset to them (even though I am a United fan(!) ).
It would be good to see him in the Premier League for any club (apart from Chelsea) to see how he would handle it.
Up the Red Devils!!!!
