Man United set to beat Man City to signature of Blackburn striker?
by stresster on June 6th, 2008The problem with losing Cristiano Ronaldo is that he’s impossible to replace. Nobody is going to score 41 goals for Manchester United next season, not even 31 and maybe not even 21. More firepower will almost certainly be needed if the Red Devils are going to win even the Carling Cup and that’s where Roque Santa Cruz might come in.
The Daily Telegraph report that the Red Devils have declared an interest in last season’s Premier League best bargain, although they may face some stiff competition from Man City, especially as money appears to be no object at Eastlands these days. The Blackburn striker reveals that United are keen for him to strut some of his goalscoring stuff at Old Trafford, could this go some way to making up for their bad news this week?
The 26-year-old said: “The interest from United is real. But I’m busy now so my representatives will handle anything if there is a concrete offer.”
And what about Blackburn Rovers? Losing Mark Hughes is a bad thing and losing their star striker would be pretty shocking too. David Bentley is rumoured to want a move after shunning a new contract, while you can imagine Benni McCarthy is taking one look at this situation and thinking that he also wants out.
However, surely Man United fans would be delighted to see RSC in a United shirt?

Nah, cant see him going to them. The lads ambitious and utd are the new titanic now tranaldo is going. Dont think we will have him either with dinho and jo signing on Monday. Chelsea might be in for him tho if Drogba moves on.

titanic cuz of ronaldo, you’re having a laugh - only teams outside the top 4 sink because of star player losses.
santa cruz would be an amazing addition for united, i hope it happens.

Santa Cruz for Manchester - No way!
Neither of the two manc clubs will tempt RSC away from the mighty Rovers! Manure are on their way down to top 6 (not top 4) after Ronaldo leaves for Real Madrid and Shity cITY will never sign Ronald Reagen or Ronald McDonald never mind Ronaldinho or RSC! The time of chnage is here….5 foreign players per team means that the likes of the Rovers and other small city and town teams have at last got a chance of challenging for the top slots again. Not only the England national side will feel the benefits of this change - other teams will be able to develop young players and put the into their sides and challenge for the top trophies. Bring it on baby! Come on you Blues! Rovers rule OK!

united should have higher targets than RSC. He was just a big fish in a small pond…United need a little more quality than that…

Hahahaha - O how some of the posters on here wish that United will not be in the top 6 if Ronaldo leaves. Don’t even think for a second that United will not replace him with an equally top goalscorer. We are European Champions, not Man City, who sank from top four very quickly, in spite of all money Sven spent. If any team is sinking like Titanic it’s Man City. B’Burn Rovers post Mark Hughes will be back in relegation zone again. Wonderful Man City, whose chief and only ambition is to beat United home and away. That’s why United are premiership and CL winners, and why City will win nowt!.

Santa Cruz would be a great replacement for Saha not Ronaldo.
We need another top quality winger now that he seems to be sodding off to Madrid.
Maybe Joaquin? But we’ll see what happens over the Euro’s.
Incomings hopefully:
winger
2 strikers
a left back

Manu has a split personality,
He throws toys out his pram when Real M was chasing Ronaldo, still chasing as he will now report them to FIFA but thinks its *F ok to talk transfer fees about a player thats got four years to run on his contract at Blackburn. We only got Cruz recently and we have no need to sell so Fergie stick your *F money where it hurts like *F!
I doubt any Blackburn players apart from Bently will be going anywhere before a new manager comes in.

I agree with the needs Eujen, but no fucking way to Joaquin. He is awful.

yeh i used to watch most of Valencia’s games but after Koeman sacked Canizares, Albelda and Angulo didn’t want to. He was promising at the beginning of the season, maybe not so much now. He’s still a bullet. We can even bring in a good left winger and move Nani onto the right. David Silva maybe.
Oh hopefully even 1 striker, if Manucho can get that work permit.
So IF ronaldo decides to waddle off to the career destroyers (see other Ronaldo, Beckham) we’ll have at least 50mil to spend.
put 20 on a great striker, thats another 30 to spend wherever and that should bring in some class)
In a perfect world if Ronaldo went we could pick up:
Huntelaar for Saha
Lahm for Silvestre as its likely he’ll go off to join Laurent Blanc at Bordeaux.
David Silva
for something like 40mil.
