Blackburn fans: would you like Alan Shearer to manage your club?
by Dexter on June 9th, 2008Former Rovers hero and current tepid pundit Alan Shearer is edging closer to the Ewood Park hotseat and, according to Blackburn stalwart Tony Parkes, he could do a good job - he could even be the next Kenny Dalglish!
“I think Alan will be a good manager.
“When Kenny was manager, he did hardly any coaching. Most of it would be down to Ray Harford. Alan could do the same [with] an experienced No 2. When Alan was at Rovers he had a very old and wise head on young shoulders and he was a leader of men.” (Telegraph)
The rumours swirled around Shearer after Allardyce was sacked at Newcastle but nothing came of that, would Rovers fans welcome him at Ewood Park?

As a season ticket holder of many years I would love to see Alan Shearer as Blackburn manager. However, I do think that people shouldn’t get carried away if he does, as his first goal as manager should just to be trying for a top 10 finish. From their anything better is a bonus.
So, if he does get the job people shouldn’t be expecting miracles as it will take several years to change Rovers into consistent top 5/6 team.

bburn-fanny,
Thats what you deserve for being a silly club

Blog head, could you define a “silly” club. If that’s one that is run properly, with not a single incident of sleeze or scandal and still finish above the likes of Spurs, City and Newcastle without spending zillion son players and wages then we’ll be as silly as you like…
The list of Candidates proves how good we are rated in the real footballing world and not the Sky Sports version. Henk Ten Cate, Dick Advocaat, etc
In fact we have a much better list than Newcastle did when they were appointing!

just what has alan shearer done to be linked with premiership managers jobs?
despite be a golden boy of the bbc doing a job that any football fan in the country could do?
what kind of message does this send out to hard working young coaches in the lower leagues learning their trade like simon grayson and jim magilton? they werent great players so they dont get the chance of big jobs?
give paul ince a go, he has done his apprenticeship and deserves a crack

Shearer would be magic, but would have to be teamed with someone with top level managerial experience, like Advocaat or maybe even Strachan and perhaps at a stretch ‘honest’ Mike Newell. Paul Ince would be an outsider for the job, and I dont think the Ewood board or fans would want McLaren or BFS.
It is a good club and a well paid post for the right manager - hence the 40 applicants - but whoever takes on the job it will be tough! Even to keep the Rovers at the current level (which is ahead of Spurs, Newcastle, Man City, Portsmouth Everton, Villa etc) would be a big task.
To take us into the ‘top four’ group (in place of Liverpool) then we would need some outside investment, which I am glad to say does seem to be happening even as I write this!
Blackburn top of the premiership? Well it happened once not so long ago and could again, watch this space! Shearer for Ewood!

I’m delighted..however, I’m a Newcastle supporter. I think every Newcastle fan wants Shearer to take over at Blackburn as this will give him the experience needed for when KK retires. And I’m afraid to tell Blackburn fans, that this will be only a stepping stone for Shearer no matter how good/bad he does.
Because if shearer is a good manager, he will be given the Newcastle job for the next 30-40 years, because that is how much he is loved up here..
So good news for Newcastle fans, but we’ll have to wait and see if it is good news for Blackburn fans!
