Rafa will have money to spend, DESPITE his American paymasters putting Liverpool in the hole…
by Dexter on June 10th, 2008The Guardian’s Merseyside guru Andy Hunter reports that despite Anfield comedy duo George Gillett and Tom Hicks recording a £33m loss for the year ending July 31, 2007 with their Kop Holdings Limited company, the Spaniard will still be given a decent wedge to splurge. However, the Guardian also reports that much of “the Spaniard’s spending rests heavily on the amount raised through player sales this summer” and that the amount given to Benitez is “understood to be far from what the manager would like”. All in all looks to be a bit of a miss, and with Roma dragging their heels about forking out 5 million quid for John Arne Riise, it looks like it’ll be a long summer at Anfield…

I will wait till I get the offical story about funds …… gossip is not a positive way forward and often proves to be untrue …… like all the talk of no money for rafa last year, over 72m worth of new players came to anfield during 2007/2008 season!
Also it is normal for directors to put expenses against the business, and for those that think differently, LFC is now a business and will be treated as one …. NO MATTER who the owners are (get use to it guys)!

I’d love to see where your 72m figure comes from.
Does it also take into account sales?

Lets pray Rafa selects transfer targets that are going to consolidate our position as a top 4 outfit, forget milner, downing and co and start looking at players to improve the squad. Lets get rid of the dead wood eg riise, crouch, vol, etc

benni £5m
Torres £26m
Babel £12m
Masch £19m
Skrtel £5m
Lucas £6m
jawz - June 10th, 2008 at 4:37 pm
Red- your figures are wrong. Ive had enough of this stupid miconception that torres cost us 26.5m. He did not, he costed us 20m. Rafa said it, as did guillem balague. The cost was hyped up by atletico madrid to appease fans and also by the idiot owners for us to believe that they had spent loads on one player.
In-
torres- 20
babel- 11.5
skrtel- 5m
benayoun- 5m
mascherano- 18.6m
lucas 6m
total= £66.1
fair enough, we spent alot. But take into account player sales:
out
cisse- 6m
bellamy- 7.5
pongolle- 2.7
paletta= 2m
gonzalez- 5m
warnock- 2m
garcia- 4m
29.2m
36.9 m spend. which was covered by our champs league run. the owners have spent nothing on the club. I dont know how rafas kitty can get smaller. 20m is nothing compared to the other top english teams.

hicks wants liverpool fans on his side over his childish fighting with the other yank so he will give rafa money for that reason

These Wanks sorry Yanks need to sell up for the interest of the club. If they stay we will end up a mid table team like Villa or Spurs. If you don’t splash the cash then you will end up as trash. Can’t understand why the Wanks are still there! no one wants them ,no one likes them and they do not have the best interest of the club at heart. They don’t have any money to invest in the club, Why are they still here? If I had one wish for the club it would be for the Wanks to P…off and let someone who cares for the club and who has money to invest come in. DIC are fans of the club and have money. I fear they may get fed up waiting and end up buying the Blues Sh!t across the road. What on earth was the previous owner and Parry thinking and doing getting theses clowns to run LFC. They must be having sleepless nights I hope. Did they not require theses Clowns to back up all the mouth with action by putting in some kind of clause in the paper work to say if they do not mactch there promises then they have to sell up to another party who has a firm offer. Sounds like they sold up and lined their pockets and never gavce the future of the club much thought.

Thank goodness Rafa has been able to wheel and deal by selling a few player to generate money over the last few years. The Yanks came in with big massive promises. Hope you all remember! what have they done NOTHING! Don’t tell me about buying Torres. We have had very good champion league runs which over the last 4 years has generated around 75 or 80 mill. This has bought our players as well as Rafa selling a few. The Yanks have done nothing. They should sell to DIC as they could not be any worse. To make it worse they are taking money out of the club over a mil on expenses! whats that about. whos asked them to come over and stay at top hotels travel in private jets or first class. Not us the fans . For all I care they can get here by donkey, which would be fitting.

Mark and Jawz, you’ve both hit the nail on the hit (shame we can’t just do the same to Hicks). Reikirebel your figures are all wrong chief. Our net spending over the course of the last two transfer windows was a little under £30 mil which puts us below the likes of Man City and Spurs (who’ve never even come near the Champions League) and miles behind the likes of Man Yoo and Chelsea. Hicks must be having a laugh if he thinks he can con anyone into believing that selling class players like Alonso in order to afford a few new ones is an example of him investing money. Just more Yank lies to try and gloss over the very sad truth.
