World-class winger turns down the Abramovich circus at Chelsea, what about Kaka?
by Dexter on June 10th, 2008France international winger Franck Ribery has shunned the advances of moneybags Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich, in favour of staying with Bayern Munich. The French star said that he was having a spiffing time at Germany’s best club:
“I signed a four-year contract when I arrived at Bayern a year ago and there is a good chance I will fulfil it.
“I have so much fun at this club - it is like Marseille multiplied by 10.” (Telegraph)
Meanwhile, there are some crazy rumours suggesting that Chelsea’s Evil Emperor chief executive Peter Kenyon is swanning around Italy, busy trying to convince AC Milan to swap player of the year Kaka for moaner of the year Drogba. The Kings Road dilettantes must think that the Rossoneri were born yesterday - when in fact the majority of the Milan squad are older than Yoda…

nice to see a footballer with a bit of loyalty and a lot of sense. why would anyone join chelsea other than for the money
Norman - June 10th, 2008 at 1:59 pm
Absolutely no evidence that Chelsea enquired about Ribery, nor indeed Kaka but why let facts spoil a good story.
RayParlourforPresident - Why do you think players join Arsenal?
NormanBOORMAN - June 10th, 2008 at 2:55 pm
Norman, they juin Arsenal to play football and learn about the game, they only go to Chumpski for the moolah.
gooner-manzi - June 10th, 2008 at 2:58 pm
norman, its certainly not for the money…i heard steve sidwell refuses to move from chelski coz he’s on a 50k pw contract. this for someone who was signed on a free and is a perennial reserve player.
otherwise i would join arsenal because of their professionalism, the intergrity of the club, its community focus, an opportunity to grow and develop as a football player, an opportunity to play under arsene wenger, the fact that i know who will be coaching next season from now on (stability) and the fact that i identify with their fooballing philosophy on how football should be played coupled with the belief that i would have a part to play in shaping that philosophy. am willing to elaborate for longer but i cant….i hope that answers your question.
now why would someone join chelski other than for a 100k cheque at the end of the week.
Not Chelsea fan - June 10th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
Chelsea will F#@k all your “professional” teams, just wait amigos.
RayParlourforPresident - June 10th, 2008 at 5:08 pm
seems I don’t need to answer the question asked,
players join Arsenal to play beautiful football for a well managed club with decent supporters in a great stadium
Chelsea neither play great football, nor are they well managed (or at all at the moment) and neither do they have great supporters or a great stadium, (the supporters comment is more aimed at the hoard of Jonny-come-latelys now attracted to the glitz of Chelsea)
plus the fact Arsenal pay what a player is worth rather than what they ask for, yes we will lose people on that basis but at least it means we also stand for something and it also means that the stars have shown their loyalty to the club in staying with us despite knowing they could be better off elsewhere.

players go to arsenal to get some exposure so that they can be bought by bigger clubs who are willing to pay more- flamini, hleb, reyes….nasri

You want to change your site name to “I hate Chelsea” or “The anti chelsea site” or even “I’m jealous of Chelsea without even realising it”
Shuff - June 11th, 2008 at 9:16 am
Players go to Arsenal to win F@ck all and get molested by the wengerphile.
Salford Sam - June 11th, 2008 at 9:41 am

franco - June 11th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
All you Chelsea haters make me sick to my stomach. I wonder how many of you babbling little bitches would be moaning if Roman had joined you instead.
Grow up fools.
J - June 11th, 2008 at 1:04 pm
Chelsea didn’t win anything this year but when Ronaldo goes this summer United will be 30 goals worse off, dozens of assists worse off and probably 3 premiership places worse off. Without him, luck and the referees on their side Manure would have won F*ck all too.
franco - June 11th, 2008 at 1:05 pm

J - June 11th, 2008 at 1:04 pm…grow up!what premierships did chelsea win before abramovich arrived?none, what did utd win before ronaldo?ermmmm plenty!and do you honestly think that when ronnie goes that utd will be faltering down the league?silly man,i suppose you said the same when utd sold ince, kanchelskis and hughes o when utd sold van nistillrooy etc etc.and remind me of what happened…o yeah they STILL won trophies!how many times has it been said that a player is never bigger than the club and you have the cheek to say that.
so the most effective player at chelsea is not lampard o terry but abramovich.
i dont hate chelsea o the fact that roman is the owner not at all but stupid comments like that are just that….stupid.
