Sorry Arsenal, looks like Chelsea are going to snap up David Villa
by Dexter on June 13th, 2008…And when they’re done, they’ll throw some money Barca’s way and bag Deco too, and they might nab Kaka as well. There’s a new sheriff in town folks, and his name is “Big” Phil Scolari, a man with a “big” reputation, “big” plans and bolstered by the “big” money at his disposal, courtesy of his boss “rich” Roman Abramovich.
The Telegraph reckons that first up on the list is Valencia striker David Villa, who was previously being delicately wooed by Arsenal and, for those willing to suspend disbelief - Spurs. They also might have a punt on AC Milan’s Kaka, and then stop off in Barcelona to pick up Deco, before bringing their Magical Mystery Transfer Tour to an end…Is anyone scared of Big and Rich and their crazed spending spree?
The Telegraph, though, thinks that Kaka’s price tag may scare off Chelsea (as hard as that is to believe):
“The 26-year-old, who has a World Player of the Year award to his name, could command £60 million, at which even Roman Abramovich may baulk. Chelsea are also admirers of Fernando Torres, but Liverpool would demand a similar fee for him.
“Half that price could prise Spain’s David Villa from Valencia, hardly bad business for a player who hit a hat-trick in his country’s first game of the European finals. Valencia are reportedly receptive to offers of around £30 million for the striker, to whom Real Madrid, Barcelona and Inter Milan have also all been linked.” (Telegraph)

Lol he wont go chelsea. They ruin players, ill bet my house
RayParlourforPresident - June 13th, 2008 at 2:38 pm
not scared of chelsea because they play dull football - if Villa et al have any sense they will go to a club that plays decent football week in week out and inspires people to play for them rather than just following the money
that said, Big Phil is an excellent manager, I guess it just depends how much Villa rates him as to whether he would want to be managed by him at club level.
jockney - June 13th, 2008 at 2:41 pm
Dunno about Chelski, but I know unless we sell Bedntner or Adebayor
Wenger wont sing Villa because he likes to prove that his buys are right in the first place. ie Eduardo.
RayParlourforPresident - June 13th, 2008 at 2:46 pm
I know, I’d rather get shot of Bendtner to be honest but we wouldn’t get the price to buy Villa, hmm, maybe there is more to this Ade rumour than meets the eye,
Chelsea is still career suicide for any player until they can keep a manager for longer than 6 months though. Hopefully Roman will run out of patience or money before they totally destroy the game (they are already close)
Samsagoona - June 13th, 2008 at 2:47 pm
Here we go again.. Just like Raneiri and Mourinho… Chelsea are going to try to buy the league.. i still think there should be a limit a team can spend in the summer… because its ridiculous… every transfer window… Chelsea want to buy a whole new team… Just this season they bought Sidwell, Malouda, Belleti, Anelka, Pizzaro, Ben Haim, Alex.. and thats just one season.. They do it every year… they want to buy the league… theyve been linked with Kaka…Deco..Villa..Ronaldinho..Robinho.. Virtually every big name has been linked with them and its wrong…
Sixtus - June 13th, 2008 at 2:47 pm
We can loose one Villa but can also choose from many Villas. I am telling u, Wenger will be knocking on Newcaslte door’s not only for Given but for Matins too. Mark my words.

I think you’ll find that sidwell and Bn Haim were freebies….
jblue - June 13th, 2008 at 2:55 pm
Chelsea ruin players, please. drogba, lampard, essien, cech, joe cole have all stepped up and become better players since going to chelsea. of course there are players who havnt made it, arsenal should know that. pennant? jeffers?
Varun - June 13th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
SHUT UP, TORRES PLZZ DON’T JOIN CHELSEA….
Samsagoona - June 13th, 2008 at 2:58 pm
Why would we want martins.. i think hes useless.. hes greedy and noway an arsenal player… David Villa would keep fabregas at arsenal and show that wenger is serious about a title threat… it could even keep ade and hleb there.. we have the money.. spending big on 1 player in a decade is ok by me lol
Rob - June 13th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
Drogba and Joe Cole have certainly had their careers destroyed by Chelsea, as have John Terry, Michael Essien, Arjen Robben and a dozen others.
Sigh. Gooners. That selective memory that remembers how well Arsene did with, say, Franny Jeffers, to name but one.
I love how Arsenal, in the space of less than ten years, have forgotten how they were the proponents of the ultimate negative football and, incidentally, the most yawn-inspiring team to watch in the world. Unless… whisper it… some of these posters might perchance be plastic JCLs? No, no, of course not. Never. George Graham? Never heard of him.
kakatk - June 13th, 2008 at 3:07 pm
Sad Sad goners, don’t you lot ever stop whining,
CFC dont change managers every 6 months, but do change them to often
to build stability, this should please you halfwits, if Mourinho had stayed for 5yrs more you would never win anything. The reason to get Scolari is to change to a more attractive stye of football
If you sold Bentner you would still be £30M short!
I am sure you lot still whinged 5 years ago when you won something just
not as much as when you and Man utd shared the cups, such bad losers.
get used to it theres years moe or CL qualifing to come

I’d be happy to lose greedy Adebayor, who would get half the opportunities on goal in Italy he gets in England, and sign in his place Villa and Santa Cruz: a target man and a runner. With RVP/Bendtner and Eduardo backing up and the youngesters Vela and Walcott likely to play as attacking midfielders, it would be a great improvement on last year when goal-scoring was far from our problem.
rolly - June 13th, 2008 at 3:20 pm

GunnerWin - June 13th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
i feel sorry for david villa if he goes chelsea
he is too skillful for that team
who knows, lampards’ shots may deflect off him and he will get a few more goals that way
chelsea and their money, makes me laugh
they buy the best players and yet how many trophies have they won in the last 60 years?
mubeennoor - June 13th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
why we dont want to buy david villa. if anyone know the answer please give me the answer.
JaR - June 13th, 2008 at 3:53 pm
Chelski…Chelsea..or whatever the rubbish club is called ??? They are very arrogant and they thought they can even buy style & history with their money ??? which they will never ever have class….losers…
dan, Chelsea boy - June 13th, 2008 at 4:48 pm
I can only presume that all of those Arsenal fans who were alive during their period of dire but successful 1980s football no longer have any interest or comment to make about their team: nowadays, their only mouthpieces are deluded, up-their-own-khyber thickoes who witter on about their principled stance against money. This is the same club found guilty of giving ‘bungs’ to entice players, not videos of their byooderferl football. They don’t recognise how stupid and insincere they sound, but at least it allows the rest of us to laugh at them behind their backs.
J.J. - June 13th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
With Drogba potentially leaving for A.C. Milan, Villa would be the perfect replacement for him.
Samsagoona - June 13th, 2008 at 5:31 pm
I wasnt even alive in the 1980s.. different team.. league.. managers..decade..time..
so its kinda got NOTHING to do with this debate.. on the other hand… Chelsea wasnt even a team until Roman Abromavich took over… You were mid Table.. we didnt need money to become a top 4 team.. you did (y)
Emohawk - June 13th, 2008 at 6:20 pm
In return to some of the comments I read in this forum, I must say all of you are rather arrogant *arsenal supports* Chelsea spend nothing in comparision to the likes of Manchester United, yes we may have brought in Alex (already contracted to Chelsea 3 years before he came to Cheslea, because PSV is a feeder team) who only cost us 1 pound to remove the loan contract from cheslea to PSV, Ben Haim, Sidwell, Pizarro, and Beletti were free transfers, we may have spend mopney on a winger and a stricker but thats where Chelsea need player, insedently I hear that Arsenal have decided to spend large amounts of money to justify there fight for the title this year, by trying to aquire Samir Nasri, and Hatem Ben Arfa. Chelsea spend money yes but we hardly brought the premiership, plus the reason Abrovinich brought Chelsea was becuase they were an uprising team who came second the previous year he brought the club.
Chelsea Nned new strickers and attacking minded midfielders; because alot of our players are planning on leaving, such as Villa. I think that Scolari will do a fantatsic job at Chelsea, and I can’t wait till the next season begins.
4everhighbury - June 13th, 2008 at 6:37 pm
ohh well enjoy Villa. Chelsea, hell if you buy him it means we get to keep on being cheap again. Find someone for 50p build them up a bit and sell them off for 16m to barca…..or i guess real. pssht, but in all serious opinions, go on get him. We can’t exactly say no we called dibs. Its football afterall, so all i really have to say is that he liked our football, so it would be a shame for him not to come to ES. But then again we will get to see him on the bench there at least once next year
4everhighbury - June 13th, 2008 at 7:11 pm
Villa will be mad to join Chelsea.
chris - June 13th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
why would Villa join Chelsea? Does he want to play in front of a half full Stamford Bridge?
Ben - June 13th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
There are some true idiots posting here.
Rich - June 13th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
Chelsea, where ever u may b uve got f*** all history,
lampards fat,
joe cole’s queer,
ur gonna win f*** all next year!
Arsenal more likely to get santa cruz than villa but hopefully he joins liverpool as it would make the league more exciting, esp with at least one of the £50M rated players goin to the bridge! abrahmovic has ruined you’re club!

dream on spuds - June 14th, 2008 at 2:35 am
I cant recall a premier league trophy in your cabinet for 55yrs until abromovich turned up & spent £250m on players not including there wages.what other dumb ass team would pay john terry & frank lampard £130,000 per week.that would be great if every team was forced to put a cap on there wages say £80,000 per week half your players would jump ship.
Sir Cecil - June 14th, 2008 at 8:22 am
I love reading the jealousy of non-Chelsea supporters. It fills me with glee and high jollity. I so enjoy envisioning their gritted teeth and quivering lips as they try to express their rage and frustration, to no avail. The awful bitterness stays locked up inside them no matter how hard they try to spew insults. And that’s because, instead of upsetting us grinning Chelsea supporters, all they manage to do is make us feel even more smug and content with our great riches and new influx of fine new players. Big Phil will soon be putting his own boot into Wenger and the rest, so us Chelsea lads can look forward to the pleasures of hearing even more groaning and anger from Arsenal fans next season. LOLOLOLOL!!!!
Jack - June 14th, 2008 at 9:10 am
LMFAO at some of these idiotic Arsenal fans on here. It makes me laugh that they keep talking about Chelsea not winning anything this year when they havent won shit for 4 years!!!
and please stop goin on about Chelsea being a mid-table club before Abramovich came in. we were always top 6 at least.
Jack - June 14th, 2008 at 9:12 am
also, in the 10 years before abramovich came in we won the Cup Winners Cup, 2 FA Cups, 2 League Cups and 2 Charity Shields. plus we always beat Arsenal when we were broke lool
brian - June 14th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
all these fans make me laugh im a chelsea fan as i was born on kings road, to all the gooners how many times have you won back to back trophies, whaen was your last trophie and also why the hell do you think your best player left yeah henry, because all you team is is the wannabe french national squad with only 1 english player who never plays, chelsea yeah we have the money but we opened the door to a host of other clubs to get the money from investors your all just upset cuz we are richer by miles and can afford palyers you dream off, hahaha bendtner who and who the hell is sangna hahaha well enough said you are now a bottom table team
Dave D - June 14th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
I find it so amusing that all these “free transfers” that Chelsea fans talk of as not costing anything. It’s not all about transfer fees it’s about wages as well. Chelsea’s wage bill is some 30-40m above that of any other team in the league. Ballack and Co on 130k a week! Paying Sidwell 50k a week? please it’s madness. You are trying to buy the league and don’t even try and deny it.
As for the boring football tags, yes Arsenal had some very dire years, but we had players like Morrow, Jensen, Hillier (where did I leave my bags, I’m sure they were here a min ago?) etc and won trophies. The club played some dire football, but still achieved those titles and trophies without the need of a sugar daddy. You are not a football club, you are a rich mans plaything, I just hope the dirty money man decides to go and play with some cars and goes and buys a F1 team instead, and so on. I especially like the “we won 2 Charity Shields bit LOL” - it’s a pre-season trophy. God you’ll be telling us you won the Zenith Data Systems Cup next or was it the LDV vans trophy or something like that - chuckle!
Harry - June 14th, 2008 at 1:36 pm
Dom - you’re on. I’ll take your house if Villa come to Chelsea. When can I expect the keys?
Cliveo - June 14th, 2008 at 2:23 pm
Samsagoona you idiot, most of Chelsea’s player purchases last season where ‘FREE’ transfers. Chelsea spent much less last season than Liverpool, Man Utd and Man city. So get your facts right.
And take a look at how much all the big 4 or 5 have spent over the last 5 years, and have a look at how much was being spent by Arsenal, Man utd and Liverpool before Mr Abramovich bought Chelsea. Perhaps then you wont say stupid things!

are you being sarcastic?
how did we ruin John Terry, he was enver anywhere before us. As for Cole we have made him an England starter not just a trick pony, wjislt Essien and robben are now considered two of the best players in world because of our devlopment. also 30 goals last season for drogba..
i hope your taking the pisss
ThE GaMbLeR - June 15th, 2008 at 4:08 pm
i think this is the right time that chelsea must looking forward…
buy villa for the new striker n part him with another unselfish striker…
villa is a good player n i think chelsea must buy sergio kun arguero to be his partner…this is absolutely superb…chelsea had no good striker accept drogba…should buy quaresma to be left wing/right wing…
huhuhuh
