Spurs close in on £12m pair: Ramos can do better than these!

Whilst it’s true that Tottenham’s defensive frailties once again cost them dear last season, surely this pair of centre backs are not an improvement on what Ramos already has?

The north London outfit’s coach, Juande Ramos, wants one of the two to boost competition at the back as both Jonathan Woodgate and Ledley King are prone to injury.

With Michael Dawson not a first choice under Ramos and Anthony Gardner having been told he can leave, Spurs are searching for a new central defender.

Coloccini was the subject of interest from both Barcelona and Real Madrid before the end of the season, but the Blaugrana have looked elsewhere and los Merengues have yet to make any firm offer.

Tottenham were rumoured to have agreed personal terms with the Argentinian international in January before the Galician club refused the offer that was put on the table.

Interest in Diaz also surfaced in the winter transfer window and the Getafe centre-back stated at the time that he would jump at the chance to the Premier League. (goal.com)

After the top quality signings that Spurs’ Spanish boss has brought to White Hart Lane, this pair just don’t seem to cut the mustard. The speculation regarding this £12m pair seems more than likely to be the creation of their over-eager agents looking to boost their client’s careers. Anton Ferdinand was previously linked with the club and he would be an interesting addition if it came to anything. It does seem that the likes of Dawson and Kaboul could well be leaving the club, who do Spurs fans think should be brought in to shore up the defence?
