Chelsea ‘keeper has the perfect excuse for his craptastic gaffe
by Dexter on June 17th, 2008 When it comes to steaming tripe, the footballing press and internet rumour-mongers are the usual culprits. However, this time it is the Czech Republic keeper Peter Cech, who let a dodgy porker leave his cakehole.
Cech - in a coffee-splutteringly terrible excuse - claimed that there was “water on the ball” for his super-gaffe in which he dropped a ball at Nihat’s grateful feet, allowing Turkey back into a game they were losing 2-0. Cech said:
“There was a lot of water on the ball and it slipped from my grasp.
“I know now I should have punched it. After the game, you always know everything. Everybody makes mistakes and I am a human being.” (Independent)
Is “water on the ball” the real reason that the Czech Republic lost to Turkey, or was it down to Cech’s slippery hands?

He’s saying that the ball was wet, you mong. Not an especially ridiculous statement under the circumstances. Should he have caught it? Yes. But I have no doubt that had it not been raining hard he would have been able to hold on to it.

he has come out and admitted his mistake, what a twat he is.
ffs, give the guy a break. he is by far and away the best in the business and will continue to be so for the coming years.
am sure the media will do their best to convince everyone he is a walking disaster now, calamity cech
where as proper football fans who watch and understand the game know he is still the best despite 1 mistake

yes i will agree that he is by far the best keeper in the world .. but it really gets on my nerves when goal keepers make excuses. he should have just said that yes he dropped it and probably couldve punched out. but as for adding that the “reason i dropped it was cause the ball was wet. ” now that is just stupid. sure i agre it is alright to make one mistake. but just admit it and dont go makin excuses.
