‘Ronaldo not happy with Manchester United stance’ says ‘close friend’
by stresster on June 17th, 2008It must be difficult for newspapers when footballers and managers have the audacity not to say anything regarding their future. How can you bolster circulation throughout the summer months when they decide to keep schtum for a few weeks, keeping your reading public in the dark when they have a right to know?!
There are no such problems for the Daily Mirror, who have invented a ‘close friend’ for Cristiano Ronaldo. Let’s call him Paolo Pinto, someone who went to school with the Manchester United forward and has been in touch with him ever since. Paolo (which is definitely, I repeat definitely, not a fictional character) has revealed that Cristiano (as he calls him) is jolly well fed-up with United’s aggressive stance over his future when all he wants to do is leave Old Trafford and play for Real Madrid.
“Ronaldo has made his mind up now and feels it is just time to wait before he announces what he will do - which is to go to Madrid.”
“The announcement about Cristiano’s future will be the next step, but it won’t happen until the end of Euro 2008 for him and Portugal,” added the insider.
“At the moment he’s trying to work out what United are playing at and why they’re saying what they’re saying, because it’s simply not right.
“He is determined to be the master of his own future.
“The decision has been made and now it’s a case of everybody getting in position for the future - even if United aren’t yet ready to sit down and talk to Real.”
Well done Paolo, it’s like hearing from the great player himself. It’s so great that a close confidante of Ronaldo is happy to spill the beans at every turn, who needs to wait until the end of Euro 2008 to hear what’s really happening!

Who gives a shit? Just another greedy and selfish footballer trying to wriggle out of a contract. If he kicks up a fuss about leaving Man U should stick by what they’ve said and let him rot in the reserves. It’s about time one of the big clubs made a stand and started to make players honour what they’ve signed up to do!
Great player, shit attitude.

I have to admit - I do find this “close friend” stuff quite amusing, the way it is written in the papers it almost suggests that Christiano and his “close friend” want to be in Spain together to celebrate the love that dare not speak its name… brilliantly comic.
utter bollocks but very funny

All teams on every continent should have a cap on wages
you can blame twats like abromovich who agree to pay these players these ridiculous amounts(£130,000 per wk)
sepp blatter should be concentrating on this subject
then players might honour there contracts if they were not tempted by more money elsewhere.
sorry this has little to do with the boring blog at the top of the page.

I must agree this “friend” of ronaldo sounds like crap, some friend this fellow is if he told all that to the idiot who wrote this shit and I don’t know why this reporter wrote this bullshit because it makes him look like a 12 year old. Grow up you idiot!!!

everyone always moans about players leaving clubs & being greedy half way through a contract but what happens when a player has one year left on his contract? The club try to sell him before his contract run out.Clubs cant have it all their own way.Manure will get 50million so its hardly like their being ripped off !!!!!

What a position for Man Utd to be in. Contrast there new found ethical stance about Real Madrid and Ronaldo and their own re Berbatov over the last year. No wonder they are so quiet about Berbatov now. Utd may be one of the world’s great clubs but they are no doubt the biggest hypocrites in the game.
