£10m Liverpool target is worth every penny: Make it happen Rafa!

Another Spaniard is linked with a move to Anfield, this one, unlike David Villa, won’t cost the moon on a stick….

Spain’s Euro 2008 squad is blessed with an abundance of midfield talent such as Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Xabi Alonso, Santi Carzola, Marco Senna and Cesc Fabregas. However, there is another young starlet in the squad currently interesting the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool amongst a host of top Spanish clubs. That player is Real Madrid’s Ruben de la Red.
The 23-year-old has come through the youth ranks of the Spanish champions but has only recently made a name for himself after a season on loan at Getafe under Michael Laudrup’s guidance. De la Red has only made 10 first team League appearances for Real Madrid (all as sub) but such was his performances for Getafe this season that he is now hot property. His club have recalled the player into their first team squad for next season but with such competition for places at the Bernabeu he is unlikely to get much playing time. After all, Guti, Gago, Diarra and Javi Garcia are currently blocking his route. (footballpools.com)

When De la Red first hit the headlines I didn’t really see what all the fuss was about but now he has matured and has become a very good player indeed and he seems unlikely to get a good run in the Real Madrid team so a move to the Premier League is apparently his dream. Now all Liverpool have to do is beat off competition for his signature, apparently he is valued in the £10m bracket so won’t break the bank. Do Liverpool fans see Ruben as a good addition to the squad, or are there bigger fish to bid for?
