Now Spanish giants are in hunt for Arsenal striker
by stresster on June 18th, 2008The Gunners managed to head Milan off at the pass by slapping a hefty price tag on the head of Emmanuel Adebayor. However, there now appears to be another club in the running, where price might be less of an object.
The Daily Mail report that Barcelona may be in the hunt for the Arsenal striker, depending on whether he’s on their three-player shortlist for a hitman. Even more worrying for the North London club are the comments that the Togolese striker has made with regard to playing for Barcelona, although the more cynical amongst us might think he’s simply angling for more cash at the Emirates.
Pep Guardiola said: ‘We want a No 9; we need one to complement Henry and Bojan. We want three up there competing and some of the names in the papers have been very good.’
Adebayor is on record as saying: There is not a player who could say no to Barcelona. If Barcelona make an offer for me and reach an agreement with Arsenal, I would be delighted to go there.’
Has Adebayor become the new Didier Drogba with the above sort of comments? It certainly sounds a bit disrespectful to the club which have made a man and player out of him. Perhaps Gooners should start bracing themselves for a season without their number 25, perhaps Van Persie and Eduardo can tear it up as a strikeforce next season anyhow.

I would accept a ridiculously overly-priced sum for him tbh, but only if he didn’t want to remain at Arsenal. I’m not keen on us keeping players who’s heart aren’t in the club.
We can replace him.
In any case I take this story with a pinch of salt, until I see something concrete.

The media really aren’t going to give up with him leaving us will they.

Its hardly the Ronaldo saga though is it?
I think Darren Bent leaving the 4×2’s is a bigger exclusive.

still can’t see this as anything substantiated, he said that about barcelona ages ago (when they definitely weren’t interested) and it is now being dragged up again as a negative, the more important story that COS haven’t printed is that he is also due to sign an 80k per week contract any day now to keep him at the club
this couldn’t be a story making sure that the contract is definitely offered could it?

I’d say let him go if the offer is big enough, anything over £2om would be good value. Van Persie and Walcott are potentially the better partnership for next season anyway.

What’s with the stupid pictures?? Bit odd for a footie forum frequented by grown men. Are the COS crew all on crackpipes or something???

your spot on with everything u said pc but ya cant ignore eduardo, he’s a top top quality player and if he gets back 2 his best deserves a starting place.. get rid of the pictures there stupid! although i must say mine is quite dashing!!!

Oh yeah, completely forgot about Eduardo, top player as well. Having him back in the team/squad would make it even less of a blow for Arsenal to lose Adebayor.

And the stupid pictures are gone, about time too! The COS guys must have sobered up this morning and put away their tin foil…
