Manchester United players ‘bombard team-mate with calls and texts’
by stresster on June 21st, 2008There’s more than one way to skin a cat and, according to one of the newspapers, Manchester United are certainly not giving up Cristiano Ronaldo without a fight.
We all know that the Portuguese superstar is going to leave Old Trafford and there’s not really much that the English champions can do about it, other than demand an extortionate fee as compensation. Nevertheless, the Daily Mirror aim to squeeze the very last drop of this long-running saga by making the below claim. Excellent story-telling chaps.
Senior players bombarded the winger with phone calls and texts, urging him to stay at Old Trafford.
And an angry Sir Alex Ferguson put his authority as manager on the line by telling his men he will not let the Portugal winger go. “Some of the players decided to take matters into their own hands and give Ronaldo a call,” said a source close to the team.
Authority on the line? So if Ronnie goes to Real Madrid, there will be anarchy at Manchester United then? They’ll talk over Fergie in the dressing room before the match, Rio will ignore team orders and play centre-forward with Rooney while Nani will juggle the ball rather than pass to his team-mates? Oh hang on, the latter is already true actually.
Nevertheless, the writing is on the wall for Manchester United and the newspapers must know this by now!

All a bit pathetic trying to keep a guy who has stated Real Madrid is a step forward in his career. Man U really are making themselves look like a little club trying to hang on to a star.
Dump the overrated loser and be glad to get such an inflated price. Ronaldo has had so many poor games against big clubs, Barce, Liverpool, Arsenal etc., and AGAIN against Germany that at this stage he has proven consistenty he isn’t as good as they hype him up to be.
Beckham mark II from the Old Trafford hype masters.

United have already decided to sell Ronaldo. They have learnt from their own dealings with the likes of Lyon how to up the figures when you want to sell a star.
No more Beckhams or VNR’s on the cheap. Madrid are going to pay through their inflated nostrils for this one.
Ronaldo already said if it was up to him he would stay at United. That was right at the beginning of all this, before things really started to hit the fan. He did an interview on MUTV saying he was at the right club with the right players just after winning the European Cup. All that has happened since is my clue that United were already making the early moves to show him the door, probably by telling him they would not improve his present contract despite Ronaldo having a ‘verbal agreement’ to the contrary. United are playing hardball and at the end of it all we will get the real history behind the events that have transpired. We are getting the impression that United are acting very naive in all this - making verbal promises they don’t keep, taking such a hard sance when it has been implied making good on their verbal agreement with Ronaldo would stop the whole circus but an article written in the Guardian by Daniel Taylor entitled “Why United should let this ego walk off to Madrid” gives you all the reason in the World why United want shut of this person. Sir Bobby Charlton and Sir Alex Ferguson will just not stand for this type of behaviour from anyone at their club. He was on his way out the day this happened.

its destabilising the team.
and if rumours are true, it could mean that we get both robinho and sergio ramos as an exchange… sounds amazing. nani did 5x better than ronaldo did in his first season. with fergusons nurturing, he SHOULD get to the same stage in 3 years time.
jebote - June 22nd, 2008 at 4:40 am
i think they should just let him go … but if he does go i wouldnt expect any players in return to all yyou man utd fans thinkin that you will end up with sergio ramos and robinho. i dont think so. real madrid have for than enuf cash to buy ronaldo without a player swap. i just cant wait till this saga finishes. got to real: i do agree with you on what you said about nani. if ronaldo does go and he steps into ronaldos position which is more than likely i think he will become a better player than ronaldo in a few years.

Almost as pathetic as seing your local lad captain hand in a transfer request to leave for a rival club. Imagine seing Paul Scholes, Gary Neville or Ryan Giggs doing that! We all knew Ronaldo would leave but we still have the heart of the team left. United isn´t a big club because players like Ronaldo, they can be replaced or sold. Neville Scholes and Giggs are invaluable
RJ - June 22nd, 2008 at 10:22 am
Just let the lad go. If I was playing for Inter Milan or Barcelona and Liverpool came in for me I would jump at the chance. Sometimes its not about your career just living your dream (but he is goin to a bigger club :p)

It’s true that at the moment, Ronaldo is one of the best, if not the best, player in the world, and as a United fan, I’d love him to stay. However, we all have to live in the reality, and in my opinion, the best thing for United to do at the moment is to let Ronaldo go at the highest possible price.
Manchester United is too great to be relied on only Ronaldo. We are the richest club in the world. Success in the past of Real Madrid in Europe will never identify the fact of present time. At the moment, Manchester United is the best team in Europe, the richest club in the world, and above all, have greatest number of supporters all around the world. Therefore, Let Ronaldo go, and show the world, including Ronaldo, that Man.United is the best team on the planet.
Bringing in Berbatov, Benzama, Ben Arfa or other world calss striker. We need to strengthen the squad. With 3-4 new world calss players (One Striker, One Winger, and one defender as we’ve already sell Pique and going to sell Silvestre), I think United will be stronger next season.
ManU - June 22nd, 2008 at 1:24 pm
Mourino was right to comment that Ronaldo has a poor low education and has become very greedy and ignored loyalty. MU has made him what he is today but this ungreatful Ronaldo has become swell headed.
If MU had not bought him he will be nobody because playing in small club like spoting lisbon will not improve his skills and win him nothing.
I am sure many MU fans were glad to see Portugal and Solaris failure in the Euro Cup and Ronaldo was just no where.
Rooney - June 23rd, 2008 at 4:01 am
United should just irritate Madrid and keep ronaldo in the stands, get Rooney or Scholes to “accidentally” break his leg during training…lets see if he still dares to attempt a dribble after his injury. Ungrateful dog. Dreams aside, Ronaldo has to understand that he wouldn’t be having the world at his feet if not for the nuturing of Sir Alex. Moving to madrid does not even seem like a step up…rather more of a step down..It is everyone’s goal to live their dream. However Ronaldo has to think about what is most important for his career. With top players and managers linked with or already moving to the EPL,it is a perfect stage for Ronaldo to excel in. Madrid are the richest and greatest team in the world, but their acheivements over the past few years says less.
c ronaldo real madrid - June 23rd, 2008 at 7:26 pm

wanna break ronaldo leg? keep your foot in a safe place roony shrek.u wanna broke ur footies thrice?hhahaha.n for school @scholes , can u see somethin? just wear googles before trainning.hahahaa..hate manure club
rooney - June 24th, 2008 at 2:55 am
For ur info crap ronaldo shit real madrid, being injury prone or short-sighted does not mean that they cannot injure anyone…look you peace of waste…i am sure no girls would want to even look at your face. I get it…you are one of those lonely, friendless guys who seek enjoyment in insulting talented people that you are so obviously jealous of…hiding behind the screen? I bet you can even play a little of footie. I suggest you should just stop wasting money and just go kill yourself. Probably your whole family hates you coz u look like crap and support a “glamour - seeking” team like Madrid. Grow up kid. or rather go kill yourself. There is more to football than fame and fortune. There is something tats called passion. Which you obviously don’t know coz ur brain is fried. United was doing well when Cantona left, when beckham left, and they will still benefit if Ronaldo leaves. United is not about Ronaldo. Seriously u r just plain dumb. I think if you were given the chance, you will eat Ronaldo’s crap and go around boasting about it. Lame ass ugly bitch.
rooney - June 24th, 2008 at 2:57 am
Forgot something…gay faggot…go jerk off to the girls that are attracted to Ronaldo. Probably your mom and sis included…
