Arsenal midfielder on cloud nine after winning penalty

Perhaps Cesc Fabregas will get his hands on some silverware this season after all. The Arsenal midfielder readily stepped up to the plate on Sunday night to score a penalty which sent Spain through to the semi-finals of Euro 2008 and eliminated the dullards that were Italy.
Setanta reports that the Gunners midfielder believes his team deserved to go through at the expense of the negative Italians and you’d be hard pressed to disagree with him.
“It could have been any other penalty I had taken,” said a jubilant Fabregas.
“From my point of view we deserved our win. This is for the fans who came here in such large numbers.”
Will Spain now win the tournament? Or will Andrei Arshavin, a player who could be linking up with Cesc next season, spoil things for them in the semi-final?

i love fabregas but i dnt understand why he is gtin the most credit for spain going thru… is it jus me who saw casillas make two stunning penatly saves in the shootout and make a crucial save during the game from camronesi… casillas was the true hero of tht game but fabregas handled the pressure of tht penalty perfectly…. spain r certainly capable of going all the way, however u may be right about arshavin who is most certainly able to disrupt spains euro final plans.

Cesc makes playing Football look so simple. He deserves all the credit. Casillas wasn’t under pressure to make those saves but had Cesc missed that penalty, well……ask JT.

right wen fabregas stepped up to the mark to take the final penalty… i knew tat Italy were doomed…. atleast now the spanish coach should take notice of the increasing influence fabregas has on the spanish team and start him ahead of iniesta for the russian game… cos only cesc can counter arshavin….
