Now I am more than happy to speculate with the rest of the known universe about potential Arsene Wenger signings, but I really can’t see the Frenchman stumping up that kind of cash, even if he had it to spend. With Nasri on his way, the Gunners do have a quality player coming in to join the wealth of young talent already in situ at the Emirates.
However with Adebayor supposedly on his way, then a striker is probably very much needed. Eduardo, a fantastic striker, is of course on the long-term injury list and, although all the signs point to a good recovery, one can never tell just how a player reacts to such an injury.
Nicklas Bendtner takes flattering-to-deceive to whole new levels, and simply cannot be expected to weigh in with anything more than a dozen goals a season if the wind is blowing the right direction. So clearly Arsenal’s wise boss is thinking about who to bring in, and we all know just how good Benzema is, although his performance, albeit brief, at the Euro was pretty inept. Can Gunners fans really see Wenger spending big money for a new striker?
