German striker could be headed to North London: Could Spurs really pull this off?

Question: What do the Spanish and the German have in common? Will besides good beer and both still being in Euro 2008, they are now also being linked together in a rather tasty transfer rumour.
The Sun is reporting that Spanish boss Juande Ramos is intrigued by the idea of adding a bit of German flare to his strike force, and is being linked with a move that would bring Bayern ace Lukas Podolski to White Hart Lane next season.
Lukas Podolski has asked Bayern Munich if he has a future at the club. Tottenham are said to be interested in the striker. (The Sun)
While there hasn’t been a price attached to Podolski, his recent showing for Germany has to make him one of the hottest targets going forward this summer. And judging by the strikers Tottenham are being linked with (Villa especially), one would wonder how the club could stump up the funds for the German ace.
Would Tottenham supporters welcome a move for Lukas Podolski? Or would you rather see the club concentrate on bringing David Villa to the club to link-up with Berby?

well i heard we have 90 mill to spend in some articles but we can dream but with the podolski and villa rumours i think that we should wait and see instead of getting carried away with top names being linked to us fair enough modric and dos santos but we will have to wait untill the players have signed the dotted line.

Lukas Podolski is shite. Bayern dont want him. He has been on loan to a third div outfit. He is Klinsmanss discovery, he is the new boss at Bayern and even he does not want him. i live in germany, Lukas Podolski is a mid table striker, compare this to Berbatov who was one of the top strikers in the bundesliga when we brought him. I hope we dont sign him……

Dillusional fans right here. If we offered £300m for Villa we wouldn’t get him, know why? ‘Cos he doesn’t want to come to some crappy team in the UEFA cup when he has the biggest clubs in Europe after him. Podolski isn’t brilliant but i think he’s decent, just like D. Bent and to be honest we can’t hope for much more in the position that we’re in. I don’t want to see Milito either, he is simple a skill-less poacher who lacks any class whatsoever, I’d prefer the pace, guile and strength of Podolski to work on the counter attack because Keano and Berba aren’t exactly the quickest forwards in the game and a Podolski/Keane or even a Bent/Keane partnership would be good if they were used in the right system, with plenty of delivery and consistently used throughout the season. We need to face up t the fact that Berba is as good as gone and I don’t particularly want him - would rather take the £20m and get this whole saga over with.

Podolski has proved himself at the euros theres no doubt about that, he was probably the best german on the pitch tonight other than some of the turks, and if klose is ahead of him at bayern then their manager is seeing stars cos podolski would be a great addition to us.
As for bent, he is talented and spurs fans need to give him a chance 6 in 12 games is a good return plus the few assists he chipped in.
Berba i’m sure wont be there next season, all i can say for that is thank you and good luck and hopefully to us as well with whoever we bring in as it’ll take some doing to replace him…..do the business Juande. COYS!

Please do not sign Podolski. He is absolutely shite. I’d rather rebuy Rebrov, at least he came with a good record, but unfortunately we never took into account that he was playing beside Schevchenko
And Villa is definitely not worth £20 Mil. The only exciteable crap I have read recently was the Van Nistlerroy story. I don’t give a shit what age he is, we would make the money back on two fantastic seasons with him.
It is becomming rapidly painful to log on to Newsnow, watching Skysports News, and reading rag mags. We are linked with about 60 players, it’s a right nut wrencher.

Good question. It hurts to say it but I don’t think Lennon is developing quick enough, and I think Ramos has had enough.
I think Bentley is smarter, more creative, and he can land a ball on a sixpense, unlike Lennon. I don’t see much more progression, and it might be time to let him go for £8 Mil.

i agree with Darren and Berbisoff,lennon did look so pormising at one stage,but he is very much a one trick pony. As you so rightly said,Bentley would be an ideal signing. Was really dissapointed with spurs campaign this year,you guys really have an extremely tallented squad,and have made two awesome signings in Modric and dos santos(i’m an lfc fan btw).
Also agree with the comment about giving bent a run. Maybe with berba gone he’ll get his chance because in the games he has played he’s shown some real signs of quality.
On the topic of Podolski,i think he is a really good player and would be a nice addition to the spurs squad. His style would fit right in at spurs. Didn’t hear about van nistelrooij being linked with you guys, i think any team would like to have van the man,he’s real quality regardless of his age and is a proven finisher. The sale of berbs should be enough to finance a move for at least two of the three.

I feel it is my duty to inform the spurs fans, what is really going on in the corridors of whl, as i have a well placed source ( i broke the dos santos story 2 days before it was in the papers)Firstly David Villa will NOT be joing he is going to Barcelona along with Arshavin, we will however sign podolski for 12m and capel from sevilla for 9.5m with kevin prince boateng going in the opposite direction. Spurs are also hoping to offer 10m and lennon for bentley but lennon prefers a move to the toon. The goalkeeper situation is proving more difficult as everyone knows we need one and clubs are putting there asking price up. Remember don’t believe everything you read most of it is rubbish, but i am a well connected.
