Liverpool want £12m winger: Will Rafa really bid for this star?

It seems that Rafa’s advances for this England winger have not been made official as no bid appears to been made, but are Liverpool really interested?
Rafael Benitez was reportedly looking at the England international as a potential £12million summer recruit for his Anfield squad, but Middlesbrough boss Southgate insists he has had no bids for any of his players.
“We haven’t had offers for any of our players,” the Boro boss told the official club website. “The only interest we have had is in taking a couple of players who we have had loan enquiries for.
“Everybody that is here is contracted to us. If players stay or go is ultimately our decision and we have got to make the right decisions for the club. That’s the same as players coming in and players when they leave.” (fansfc.com)
Of all the names linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks, this one is possibly the one that makes the least sense. Downing can be fantastic on his day but, to be honest, he just doesn’t seem anywhere near good enough to be a regular at Liverpool. Personally I rate a move for fellow winger James Milner to be a better acquisition. Who do the fans think would be a wiser purchase?

Yes i agreee with the above, first them but then dowing is going to be a real good talent! if not already and we desperately need to sort out the right!

we should first concentrate on players such as villa silva and bentley and if we cant get them then downing who is a very good player

Forget Downing and Milner…bring in Silva and Padolski….Villa wants to stay in Spain. Of the other players that we have been linked with Arshavin wants to go to Barca, Queresma is very skillful but doesn’t have enough end product and can be as frustrating as he can mercurial as he does a lot of fancy stuff in the wrong areas loses the ball and doesn’t track back. If we were to bring in an English player I say go for David Bentley.

I wouldn’t mind downing i’d prefer silva and schweinstieger (spelling) i think schweinstieger wouldn’t be too expensive £10-£15m possibly

Lennon,while he does have good delivery,is very much a one trick pony. If he can’t beat a guys for pace then he’s not gonna do much. And as it was afore mentioned,lennon does have too many off days.
Milner is a better choice,if I had ONLY the choice of the two.

Hi,I am from serbia and I am big fan of LIVERPOOL ! I think that liverpool should get a lot of players if he want to be a champ! Liverpool must sign Milner,Barry,Villa and Silva, but that wouldn`t be enough. In my opinion liverpool must got young talented players like Bale,Lennon, Akinfeev,Thiago Neves,Thiago Silva,Kacar,Downing…and superstars like Van Der Vaart or Quaresma!And then he make a team who can fight with Man Utd,Chelsea…for the champion title…..
