Should Liverpool keep hold of hot-and-cold striker?

While the speculation over Peter Crouch’s future rumbles on, there’s another striker on the books at Anfield who will need to pull his socks up next season if he’s to remain at the club. Step forward Andrei Voronin, the chap who looks very much like a plumber or an electrician rather than a footballer.

Sky Sports reports that the striker is keen to show what he’s all about next term, after having limited first-team opportunities last season. The Ukrainian is aware that it’s do or die at Liverpool for him and he’s confident that the fans won’t be disappointed.

“I think I started not bad,” he told LFC magazine.

“I played a lot at the beginning and scored a few goals.

“Obviously the injury was a setback. There are a lot of good players here. It’s competitive, so it’s difficult to get straight back into the team after an injury.

“I’ll do my best next season and hopefully I can help the team. I think I still have a lot to show the fans.”

Liverpool fans, do you think that Voronin can cut the mustard at Anfield or will he be offski next summer? He looked quite good in the Reds’ pre-season friendlies last summer, but started to fade away after a bright start to the season. While it’s clear that Fernando Torres is the main man at the club, can the pony-tailed one chip in with his share of the goals?
