Spurs set to splash cash for £20m Spanish ace: Ramos means business!
by offsidetrap on June 25th, 2008The Euro 2008 semi-finals might be upon us, but that hasn’t kept Tottenham boss Juande Ramos from making sure that his London club are well in the spotlight with the transfer window nearing the boiling point.
According to Spanish rag, Marca, the London club is prepared to throw £20m in Valencia’s direction in the hope that the club will be so kind as to send striker David Villa their way.
Tottenham are preparing to bid £20m for Valencia striker David Villa. (Marca 0919 BST)
Villa has been fantastic so far for a Spanish side that has made it to within one game of the Euro 2008 final. While most assumed that Valencia were going to let the striker leave for a discounted rate this summer, it appears that his recent showing has again made him a hot commodity.
Are Spurs supporters excited about the prospect of having Berby and Villa up front? Do you think he could be had for £20m?

whats the point of having having them both when Berbatov & Keane were excellent last season.
We only need to sign someone of his stature if berbatov goes
Kym B - June 25th, 2008 at 3:14 pm
Would love him down the Lane but we don’t stand a chance of getting him - and I think the price would be around the £25m-30m mark?
Hodgey - June 25th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
Cant see it happening but Juande knows his stuff so if he says buy I say welcome
Paul R - June 25th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
I think Villa is a fantastic player and would love to see him at the Lane, however he cannot be a replacement for Berbatov, it wouldn’t work Keane and Villa are too short especially with Modric, Dos Santos, Malbranque, Lennon etc. Villa and Berbatov would be electric and undoubtably a fantastic partnership, however that is more likely to happen at Barca or Real. Great player but he won’t come to Spurs anyway and I wouldn’t really want him as Berbatov’s replacement.

I do think we have a chance of getting him, however unlikely that may seem but I dont actually believe it will happen. I have heard and read rumours relating to a deal being struck before the Euro’s commenced and if that is indeed true, it would have been an outstanding piece of business for Spurs, but unfortunately as each day goes by I cannot see it happening.

please can someone tell me what the fuck is going on with bentley some dick itk was 100% he was sigining
zulkifly hairi osman - June 25th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
If Villa comes to spurs,he will form a formidable partnership with Keane….yes, both are short but so were the two legendary strikeforce in the early 80’s…yes!none other than the Archibald/Crooks combination..
we can’t have both Berbi and Villa in the same side…must sell Berbi if Villa sign for spurs.

apparantly we have agreed a fee of 20mil - i just wish he had played badly in this tournament and we could snap him up - personally want to see Milito in and Berba out - sorry but he is going anyway and his attitude at the end of the season made me want to throw my season ticket at him!!!!!! in Juande i trust!!!!

is there anyone outhere who knows who is arriving next not thinks but knows
spurfect one - June 25th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
getting villa would be great. i think jr obviously wants to change the way we play and villa compliments his style of slick passing counterattack football. if berba does go i can see keane linking with villa as a great partnership, back to reality he has already stated were his preferd destinations are so i dont think this will happen.

Tricky - June 25th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
Not a chance, spurs have already forked out alot of cash on Modric and Santos, unless berbatov goes for the reported fee I doubt ye have that kind of money to spend on a striker plus all the reports of Bently and ye NEED TO SORT OUT YOUR DEFENCE

Bristol Spur - June 25th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
Not sure if Keane & Villa would be a big enough arial threat for the Prem.
I think the answer to replace Berbatov is Zlatan!

Stop re gurgitating this total bollocks!
He would not come to Spurs in a fit…he has stated that publicly.
No matter what we offered he would only go to a top four team in England and he does not want to play in the premiership.
Here’s an idea…..why not write stories that may actually have some reasoned thought behind them…..
You are out of your league ….fucking lorno wannabe….fuck off and write about womans hockey or something…..

IF BERBATOV MOVES ON A BIG STRIKER HAS TO BE BROUGHT IN AND PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE NOT CROUCH HE STUMBLES OVER HIS FEET HE FALLS ON HIS ARSE HE HAS A POOR GOAL RATIO NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU GIVE HIM A RUN IN THE TEAM , RAMOS WAS ON THE RIGHT TRACK IF ITS TO BE BELIEVED AND ITS GOT TO BE NISTLEROOY / HUNTELAAR , DIARRA IN , MILNER BEFORE BENTLEY , ROBINSON TO STAY WITH A LARGE KICK UP THE ARSE , BENT TO STAY , THUDD TO STAY , JJ OUT , RONALDHINO THESE SUPER STAR PLAYERS ARE ALL MERCENERIES AND MONEY IS THEIR GOD , SO SPURS IF YOU WANT CLASS YOU MUST IMPRESS THESE GUYS WITH TOP CLASS WAGES FOR A TOP POSITION NOT ONLY WILL THE VERY BEST GET YOU THERE THEY WILL CONSISTENLY KEEP YOU THERE IT WILL BE COSTLY BUT THE REWARDS ARE MASSIVE !! THATS HOW UTD , POOL , SCUM , CHELSEA , STAY THERE , THE POLICY IS SPEND ON CLASS AND YOU WILL GET CLASS REWARDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

andrew - June 26th, 2008 at 2:41 pm
plz stop sayin bull crap like Villa cant play with Keane cos theyr both short, ones really intelligent playin in an around the box n the other is a master finisher.
the yidd father - June 26th, 2008 at 2:43 pm
When berba leaves ,which he will we need2 sign some1 of the same height and a bit more of a physical striker no point even signing some1 same sort of height as keane unless u r gonna play bent at all times switching from keane 2 some else which i dont think a player like villa wil want 2.Keep Bent, and sign some1 like a ole gunna solsjker type of player who u can bring on with 25 mins left who will always get a goal.
the yidd father - June 26th, 2008 at 3:01 pm
Whats the point in signing players like bentley who send the crosses in all over the place if u aint got any1 tall enough to header in goals…………
