Arsenal set to chase German flop and wantaway Blackburn striker: Only one is worth it!
by offsidetrap on June 27th, 2008If you believe every rumour out there (and honestly, who doesn’t?), then you’d be just the type of person that would enjoy this lovely bit of news coming from the Emirates.
The Daily Mail reports that Arsène Wenger is preparing for life without striker Emmanuel Adebayor — who is reportedly nearing a possible move to AC Milan — by targeting two strikers of opposite quality.
Manager Arsene Wenger is also watching Germany forward Mario Gomez and Blackburn frontman Roque Santa Cruz as he prepares to sell Adebayor to Italian giants Milan (The Daily Mirror)
While I would imagine that most Arsenal supporters wouldn’t mind having Santa Cruz playing up front with Van Persie, the thought of Wenger bringing in Gomez is sure to make most cringe in fear. This isn’t to say that he isn’t a quality striker, but based on the speed and pace displayed by the current Arsenal squad, and Gomez’s poor display in Euro 2008, you’d have to believe that Santa Cruz would be the better option.
Would Arsenal supporters welcome a move for either Gomez or Santa Cruz? Or would you rather see the club chase another option to fill Adebayor’s role?

sell him and buy good players like santacruz gomez or david sliva compy??
clockendjim - June 27th, 2008 at 7:51 pm
Gomez would be a wrong buy
However Santa Cruz would have finished with a total of at least 45 goals last season if he had been playing for Arsenal and had all the chances on a plate dished up by Fabregas & Co, that Adebayor missed.
Sell the ungrateful b****** and get someone like Santa Cruz who would be proud to wear the shirt. That would leave some change for Nasri &/or one or two others.
Wenger would have worked the magic trick of again strengthening the squad and it not costing a bean.

i agree with clockendjim.
i mean adebayor’s changing statements every hour of staying and not staying is clearly a gimmick in tryin to get a better pay package to stay at the emirates… he thinks he’s a great striker n indispensable … but he’s sadly mistaken…
he shud learn a lesson or 2 from fabregas…
fabregas is a superstar n if he agrees real madrid can buy him tomorrow… but still he has shown loyalty to arsenal… not only tat… he hasnt raised any wage related issues (atleast publically he hasnt) showing his character n maturity…
im sad to say the togolese striker has grown greedy for money(a la cashley cole n flamini)… and considering the chances he missed last summer we gotta move on n show him the finger…
he may hav been the highest scorer n stuff like tat but santa cruz wud hav easily converted at least 10 more chances than wat adebayor did last summer n we cud hav had the prem in the bag….
but if adebayor stays im confident tat wenger will teach him tat no player is above the game…. he’s forgettin the fact tat wen wenger can do without guys like henry n viera who were so prolific for the club he doesnt stand a chance in trying to convince wenger to overpay him for his underperformance…
its a win win situation for wenger nyways… cos if milan or barca buy him in 1 season they’ll no wat a useless striker he is and wat a waste of money it was to buy him… n then like eto’o n ronaldinho he’ll get offloaded to some smaller club…
and with tat money wenger can introduce some younger n more deserving talents at the emirates…
if adebayor wants to learn a lesson the hard way then so be it….

As an Arsenal supporter my priority is to have Adebayor staying at the club if only someone kan help “release some air “from an inflated ego and save Adebayor from himself.Just save him from becoming “Adenelka”. Ade you still have friends among Arsenal supporters!

German player of the year has no quality? You can’t base him soley on Euro 08.
