Now that he has successfully severed ties with footballing leech Hara-Kiri Kewell, Liverpool gaffer Rafa B is apparently after someone to fill his lazy antipodean loafing boots.
The Sun, the UK’s finest purveyors of wanton doggerel and tripe, reckon that Rafa the gaffer is set to have a little splurge on Middlesbrough‘s Stewart Downing, conveniently ignoring the fact that Downing silenced any transfer rumours last season by signing a contract extension for his boyhood club.

So it looks like this story could be a bit of a non-starter, what with Downing signing a new contract pretty recently, but the fact that he is only 23, and would no doubt be an improvement on injury collector Harry Kewell, must make him a tempting prospect for Rafa.
