Manchester City chasing £8m Spanish striker: Now this is the kind of quality they need!
by offsidetrap on June 27th, 2008Man City have been hot on the heels of a certain Spanish striker for the last couple of weeks, and after fighting off other potential suitors left and right, the club looks to be in line to finally get their man.
The Manchester Evening News is reporting that Man City are in the driver seat to secure the signature of Real Zaragoza ace Diego Milito.
Manchester City are in pole position to sign Real Zaragoza striker Diego Milito, who is available for £8m. (Manchester Evening News)
The club has been desperately searching for a new striker for some time now, and Milito seems to fit the bill perfectly. It remains to be seen if the club can secure the transfer fee and his signature, but regardless, this has to be music to Thaksin’s ears.
Are Man City supporters excited about the prospect of having Milito at the club next season? Do you think £8m is a fair enough price for the Spanish striker?

I think 8 million is a fair price due to his age (29) and the fact his club is now in the 2nd division. I think he’s the type of player we need, an out and out striker. I think we all knew deep down that people like Mpenza and Samaras were never going to be world beaters but in Milito we have a proven goalscorer in that league. I know you could say the same about Bianchi but Italians never succeed apart from a select few (Zola and Vialli). Milito would be perfect because he is the complete center forward and dominant in the air for someone below 6ft and has decent pace. It would be nice to see someone up top with pace who is agile for once and if we get Jo aswell, it will be very exciting times I believe for Man City next season because surely both will play up top. My only fear is if we do get 2 top strikers, where will Elano play because he plays best in 4-4-1-1 formation, can’t play out wide and I’m not sure about the Central Midfield positions.

yeah get your story strait

Lets see what Mr Milito & Mr Jo can do… surely more in one game than Samaras & Corradi did all season !!

i’m not convinced… he looks a very bianchi type player, fox in the box. to succeed in the premier league you need more to your all round game, he is not going to get all the clear cut chances he gets in the primera ligue, good goalscoring record there doesnt always mean a lot, look at forlan ffs!
plus, with Jo in the bag i dont think another striker is top priority. get rid of the shite like samaras, corradi, dickov, mpenza and probably bianchi… but we still have sturridge, evans and etuhu, thats like 3 new signings! add benjani, castillo and vassel as the other senior strikers. and caicedo who we paid 5mil for we will be top heavy
bigger prioities now are DM, LB, RW and backup GK and Centre half

good centre forword, w?ll be good to see h?m partner Jo up front. we now need a good DM, LB & a RW for sure. ?f we get these s?gn?ng r?ght we w?ll have a great season. I hope.

not sure about milito….maybe past his best — though jo could be interesting—-add castillo, bojinov and caciedo to the list of anon — sge made a few good buys and a few mistakes.

i want to see more of bojinov and i also think that we will do much better this season than last- sven played italian football defend then try and snatch a goal- and it didnt come off.
hughes is likely to ditch svens 451 and go 442 therefore two strikers on the pitch at the same time and bringing out the best in other players such as elano and geovanni(another who i want to see more of)
